Spring is almost here at my little cottage by the woods and I'm so excited to be spending time outside planting seeds and soaking in some sunshine. I've been dreaming up some fun ideas for the garden as well as some exciting plans to add to my Spring bucket list.
Making a seasonal bucket list has become something I really love to do as it pushes me to get out and do more fun things. Please leave a comment below and let me know what things you're hoping to get up to this Spring!

My bucket lists always include things like power wash and stain the deck, dig out the overgrown bushes, replace a door, etc. I like your list better😊
Keep your eye on Charlie when he's out. Owls will get little dogs and cats. I'm ready for spring too.
I unexpectedly found out at the end of last month I was going to have to move, I’ve lived in my current home for just shy of 17 years and it made me really sad, I have been decluttering and donating as much as possible, so as little as possible goes to waste and although I was sad and scared, I’ve got to a point where I’m looking forward to making new memories in a new home. Also I have found watching your videos really helpful for my mental health and keeping me in a positive mindset.
I recently had to move unexpectedly too. It was very upsetting but, you know, now I’m on the other side of that, I’m much, much happier in my new place. I wish the same for you! ❤
@@Trissa.33 I am now the other side of that move, and I am genuinely really happy. I think i just had so much happening at once it was overwhelming. My new place felt like home even on the first night.

Don’t forget last summer’s ticks trapping you in your house. Spring is also the time to clear the perimeter around your place and get brush cleaned up so this summer is everything you and sweet Charlie dream of.

Hi Kate, I live in California and I patiently look forward to each one of your videos. I'm sure I'm not the only one that feels like you are a kindred spirit. Some of the things you share bring back some wonderful memories of my childhood living in Dover, Delaware. Today while you were talking about morning glorys I just had to share. When we lived there my mother and all of her friends grew blue morning glories over the front door every year. They remind me of her and I have been growing them in my garden for over 36 years. They bring me such joy and comfort. There is also a perennial blue morning glory that will come back every year out here. I'm not sure how it is with snow. I think if it was covered with straw or mulch it might make it there. Also I grow marigolds every year from the seeds of my plants I grew the year before. Here they come back fuller and taller. I've had them up to 3 feet. You planted them the way I do and I've always had success. They love full sun and are good for detouring bugs. Thank you so much for sharing! You are such a blessing!!!❤

A great way to pamper yourself is soaking your feet in 1/2 cup epson salts and warm water for 20 minutes. You can also add a few drops of diluted lavender, peppermint, or eucalyptus essential oil too. 🌺
marigolds were never my favorite until last year i started to love them, they got so big, bloom the whole season and found different pretty colors. I hope you enjoy yours:)
Orange marigolds are one of my all time favorite flowers. I adore them. The color, their scent,everything.

I share your amazement with seeds, so not surprised that gardening, sunshine, and Charlie have helped you with acceptance and moving ahead with your father's passing. Putting new life in the vessel from your dad is a lovely symbol. I wish the best for you, your mother, and all who loved your dad. (I'm going to try the banana thing)
FYI...Rubbermaid has a very durable shed that locks for your supplies. We have had ours for 16 years, and it has held up great. Easy to put up.

I ❣️LOVE marigolds! They require so little care, they bloom like crazy all summer and well into fall, and the colors vary significantly! From lemon yellow, to gold, some are more orange-like, and of course I adore the varieties that also include red! I have come to really enjoy marigolds over the last four or more years!

Wal Mart has a variety of marigold seeds this year called "Jolly Jester". Ferry-Morse seeds. I've only been able to order them by mail before. They're very pretty, yellow and red stripes. I think you'd like them. Also, last year I planted marigolds right in with my basil plants. No more bugs bothering the basil. I love your posts. Happy gardening!

2. Go to a farm near here for a session of baby goat snuggling
3. Make a glass mosaic of a piece of my grandson's artwork by his 16th bday - 31 May !

Another lovely video..maybe try spraying your plants with dishsoap and water...you can buy insecticidal soap but dishsoap works just as well...the Owl..they are elusive creatures...silent fliers..and by the way..if they allow you to see them..they bring good luck..the flowers are so lovely...Charlie is so smart...love his chomping sounds..😊....you inspire me to want to container plant some vegetables this year..Love your dress..I have one very similar..same exact color..❤...
Thank you for the dishsoap tip! I think that may be the one thing I haven't tried ... so I'm going to : ) And yes!!! I don't know if I have ever seen an owl so close to me in the woods before! I had already made a general bucket list, but going seasonal will be much more focused.
As for the blessing of little reminders from people we’ve had to let go of for now… isn’t it beautiful that we have these? I have such reminders from both my parents, 1 grandmother, 1 great-grandmother, and more recently one of my sisters, to name a few. As the initial pain of loss eases, these little things become more sweet without the bitter of the early days.

Thank you so much for your ongoing videos! There is no doubt in my mind they are a lot of work. I can only speak for myself when I say your videos are very, very uplifting and enjoyable. As soon as I see you have posted a new one, I'm clicking on it. Charlie is an amazing little dog, and he will do just about anything for a treat, won't he? LOL That twitching, little upturned nose is so stinkin' cute!! I admire your artistic ability and the creativity you sprinkle throughout your days. I know I'M not happy unless I'm creating something! Marigolds are amazing flowers, because they reseed themselves and they are so hardy. You truly can't go wrong with them. My dream is to have a home where I can plant all sorts of flowers and create a butterfly garden and mini bird sanctuary. I'm so jealous you saw that owl....a very rare treat indeed! My son is a horticulturist, he says the best way to get mealy bugs under control is to find them daily and smoosh them between your fingers. Gross but effective. ❤

My spring bucket list includes eating pastry and coffee under the cherry blossoms, bike ride to a taproom on a sunny day, taking a nap at the beach in good weather, decluttering, planting flowers on my porch, eating asparagus, doing my taxes. Gotta mix the happy things with the things I dread but must do regardless. ❤

I'm with you- if something grows well- plant it! Charlie is getting so good at following commands and doing his tricks. He's such a sweetheart 🥰 Your dad's planter is beautiful. How wonderful you get to use it for your beautiful plant. My dad passed in 2017 while he and mom were visiting. We planted a beautiful blue spruce within view of our window. It was about 4 ft then and I'm sure it is at least 12 or more now and I get to enjoy it every day.

I see other comments about dishwashing liquid and water but here's a slightly different and extremely effective recipe. Four tablespoons of dishwashing liquid into one cup of vegetable oil. Mix in with twenty parts of water. Then spray. Those cheap plastic sprayers are fine. This really does work. Good luck. 🦋
Got a small greenhouse to start a veggie garden that the deer can't get to. Awww, Fresh Tomatoes 🍅 😋

Hi Kate another great video! I think I would add on my bucket list bird watching. I have a few perches and bird food in different dishes I hung on the trees. I love to watch the different birds that flock to these spots. I also have binoculars for when the owls fly up in the trees. Wow Charlie has come a long way❤😊

Peppermint essential oil on a QTIP. Leave the QTIP in the planter, if it’s big planter put a couple in there.

I love marigolds. Natural bug repellent and great for coplanting with vegetable garden. The happy color of marigolds is fun and I love zinnias as well. Zinnias are super easy to grow, drought tolerate and so many colors.

Just put marigolds an inch in the ground..here and there..they grow everywhere ..easy flower to grow and collect the seeds in the fall..🌺🌸
An etsy store is a great idea. Pictures can be sent in envelopes and also seeds. Very simple. Do it.
Try dawn wash soap..place in spray bottle with 1 tablespoon of dawn the rest with bottle water..spay liberally on plants let it sit a while and then water plants.. also coat your leaves by using mayonnaise and place on leaves ..plants love it! Love, Kat

Hi Kate, it was such a wonderful surprise to be mentioned on your Story, thank you. I have written my Spring Bucket List too! I have 12 items, to plant as much as possible, to make home made Dog Treats (including Pumpkin Ice Cubes in anticipation of some hot weather, which I think Charlie will love too!) and to give somebody my smile (as Dolly Parton says, if someone is struggling, give them your smile). i am so happy to challenge myself too and had wonderful success with Marigolds last year, even though, they are not my favourite. I will take their beautiful coloured blossoms and enjoy them. Donna X
💖 This was such a nice video. I grew up with morning glory (purple) on a fence we shared with a neighbor & under our dining room window at the front of our home was a small flower bed filled with marigolds (yellow & orange). They make such pretty flowers arrangements. I love a good list or two or three & a really thought out vision board, they help keep me focused. Your art is so pretty. 🌸

Charlie is really doing good with his training. He’s such a smart little guy!! Don’t want to be a downer but large birds like owls,hawks, and eagles can pick up small dogs. Charlie looks really small but it doesn’t seem he goes out without you which is good. I live in the mountains an I have a Yorkie so when there are large birds around watch him closely. I know you would do great on Etsy cause you have some great ideas!! I absolutely love your art and I know lots of people would!!! Blessings to you and Charlie!!🤗❤️

Marigolds are the perfect flowers. They'll grow anywhere and deer do not like them. Cosmos and zinneas are all good work deer not eating.

Thank you for such a lovely heart warming video. I love your voice, and this may just be me, but I would rather not have the background music, although it is lovely, it just distracts me from listening to your lovely words. I LOVE your beautiful Charlie as always, he is such a great companion for you, and he is so good at his agility tricks now! My rescue greyhound Madge has a twister puzzle to get treats out of, and she learned to do that so quickly. It keeps their brains active, and these puzzles are such a good idea. You really are the best owner for Charlie, and he loves you to bits back. Things are just starting to show themselves in the gardens in West Devon, England. The daffodils have been out for a couple of weeks now, and we have lovely yellow and pink primroses growing along the side of the road, in the Devon banks. My grape hyacinth has been out for a couple of weeks, and it is lovely to see their little blue heads amongst the greenery. My cherry and apple tree are in bud, and the little lilac tree I grow in a pot is budding too - so spring is really on the way! I had rabbits eating my morning glories. I had a luxurious pot full one day then chewed stems the next. Had to put a fence around them. Your Charlie is so smart! I'm hoping to adopt a dog soon so my bucket list will be full of doggie activities! I hope I hope I hope!!
Marigolds are said to keep some insects away. I plant them all around my vegetables. I love their bright colors! 👍🇨🇦😎🌼🌼🌼

Your paintings are everything. I would like them in my sheets pattern and throw rugs and in some harem pants. I would love a huge painting for my wall and small ones for greeting cards. They are the colors and prints that I always look for they make my eyes dance with pleasure.

re bugs on your plants. have you tried a mix of liquid soap (not dish soap) and water? spray on leaves. it usually works. good luck :)

Good evening! It's great to see another video from you & Charlie. He is good good at agility. My fur baby is enjoying watching lol. You sound & look so happy. I'm so glad to see your father's flower pot, it's beautiful. I don't know when sadness is mourning or even grief though I know I have felt all of them when I lost my dad ( and Mom). Yet the happy memories & remembering his sense of humor still brings me smiles. I wish you many more smiles than sad moments. I am so looking forward to spring. We didn't get a lot of snow this year but have had enough cold rain. Marigolds are a flower even I can grow here with all the evergreens blocking the sun. I'm still using seeds I've had for over 20 years. Am so looking forward to seeing yoir beautiful garden. You are so creative, really inspiring. My tiny cottage is 300 sq ft & with an active cat I can't keep plants inside. My little ole chihuahua will also appreciate warner weather. Wishing you success & fun in having patreon. A Spring Bucket List is a lovely and hopefully inspirational idea. #1 on my list will be to plant basil from seed in my sunroom and some flowers too! Charley is a little wizard. Such a character!
