- FRUGAL LIVING video is here! The cost of living and the price of food has increased so much that many people use a food bank or food pantry to make ends meet. The food pantry is a great resource to obtain food and household supplies. There is no need to go hungry when there are great resources out there for everyone to use, if you qualify. I encourage you to apply to your local food pantry or food bank if you need help with groceries. It's also a great place to meet new people in the community. If you do not qualify for the food pantry or the food bank then please check out your local churches as that could be another option to get help.

Food Haul & Food Pantry Hauls Are Such A Blessing To Be Able To Have
There is no shame in going to a Food Pantry, a Food Bank or a local church for help with groceries. The cost of food and the cost of living is high. If you have low-income, lower income or no income then the food pantry may be a great option for you! Inflation prices are rapidly increasing, so more people are using their community resources and programs than ever before. Using your local community resources to help offset the cost of food can help you stretch your paycheck or retirement funds further. Keep in mind that sometimes the food has gone bad. There are times I have received items from the food pantry that were spoiled. Sometimes the food is very out of date and not suitable. Please check the best by dates! If you receive spoiled items, then I'm sure it was an accident. Food banks and food pantries move a lot of inventory and there are times when the food has turned. They have a lot of food that comes through and they're not perfect. Volunteers help rotate and shelf products at the food pantry. Just keep your eye out for best by dates to make sure you are getting the best quality items you can find!

I live a Frugal Lifestyle. I shop sales and squirrel away supplies for winter. I am mindful to stock up on everyday items to save money in the long run so I can pay for daily living expenses like electricity. Every purchase I make is a financial investment in my future. It could be a bottle of water or a can of beans. Part of my frugal living lifestyle is using my local food pantry and shopping at thrift stores. Each organization has their own rules and if you qualify, you become a consumer to their program so please follow their rules to maintain a good relationship with your food pantry or food bank. I still have bills like everyone else and I budget according to my finances. Although I am considered financially poor or low-income, I do not feel poor. I eat well.

HOW TO GET FOOD BANK HELP?
Contact your local churches or you can ask the county. There is nothing wrong for wondering how to get food bank help. Each county has a social services department that can direct you to food pantry resources in your area.
WHAT FOOD DO YOU GET FROM A FOOD BANK?
All types! I get all types of food from the food bank from unknown brands to name brands. Each shopping trip is different. I also get a lot of seasonal vegetables to cook with. Some food pantries offer staple items like beans and lentils, other food banks may even offer organic food.
HOW DOES A FOOD PANTRY WORK?
Every Food Bank and Food Pantry has their own set of rules, so make sure to call and speak with staff that can guide you to apply. Some go by how much money you make (income guidelines).
FOOD PANTRY NEAR ME TO DROP OFF FOOD?
The best way to find a location near you is to contact your local churches, google search it or contact social services.
HOW TO QUALIFY FOR FOOD BANK?
They go by how much money you make in most cases.

Hey Sarah, I have to say that whenever you put your slippers on, it gives me old school Mr. Rogers vibes when he comes in the door. I love that you put slippers on when you come in the house because I do the exact same thing. I stayed with a family in Slovenia when I was younger and they had a whole trunk of different size slippers when you came in the door because it is thier custom to do that when you enter the house in thier country and I have always loved that.
Awww thank you! I love that TV show, Mr. Rogers was a great program. Putting on slippers help keep some of the outside dirt away!

Ha! Good point. I think getting "boy shorts" to wear with the real shorts could work also. The material is just so thin. Back in the 90's clothing seemed to be made so much better. I guess companies are using less material to save on production costs!

Do you remember many yrs ago there was a trend of making purses/tote bags out of denim jean shorts, by sewing the legs shut and adding a handle of some sort maybe you could make a bag for your storage of laundry odds and
ends. Might be a helpful alternative instead of donating.

That shaved steak….steak sandwiches, breakfast steak and eggs, plain or sandwich….or top your salads. Hot meat on cold veggies is really good. I’d add 6-8 French fries to the salad too if it were me. Beverage bar looks very nice. I like half and half in my tea…no substitute.

Hi, if you use your cooler (my grandfather used a cardboard box lined with newspapers), and a refreezable ice pack or two, the fruits, cookies, etc. will be fine
for a few days. My grandfather didn't have those packs, he'd put a milk carton full of water in his freezer. I keep my freezer compartment full of empty juice

Adding the goldfish to the salad made me smile for some reason! I say consolidate the coffee pads into the big jar and I absolutely love the tiny jars with the tea!!!

The shaved beef can be fixed a lot of ways. With gravy over noodles, beef dip sandwiches, Gyros, or stir fry.

Shaved steak makes great steak and cheese sandwiches using the sourdough bread.

Thank you! I really like the coffee station, too. It looks pretty and is more functional than before. I try to make my home a little better here and there, it all adds up!
I really like your food pantry. You get a good variety of things and you get to pick what you need. Our food pantry prepares boxes of food and puts them in your car so you may get a bunch of stuff you can't use or store. Sometimes you might get four gallons of milk or 20 lb of frozen pastry that's hard to store or use quickly. I like that yours has toiletries and cleaning products from time to time too.
That's a big challenge to work around because what do you do with so much of one item. Only thing I can think of is share the blessing with others! I really enjoy the shopping experience of being able to pick out items. I'm glad the food pantry offers kitchen and bathroom supplies!
That shaved steak I would do a Philly cheesesteak with onions and green peppers yum! Or you can do a stir fry with it too! You always get the best things, great haul! ❤🎉

I cook the shaved beef in my electric fry pan with bell peppers, onions , a little salt, pepper and garlic. I eat it on mini naan instead of a sub or hoagie roll. It' s very good. I just tried bag salad after watching your videos and they are surprisingly good. As a single person, I was wasting too much produce buying separate ingredients for salads.. I enjoy watching your videos. Blessings.

Hello Sarah great haul. The shaved beef you could add onions and peppers and make a cheese steak hoagie. I've been eating a lot more salads these days. You could wear flesh tone panties under the shorts or wear around the house. I would put all the little k-cups in the big jar, that's one less jar on the counter or rack. That is 100% the best and correct way to use a food pantry. Always... always always reserve some cash to get items you don't get. If you use up every penny then go... you don't end up with everything you need. Stock at any pantry varies... if they have no TP, you have to have the funds to buy it. Sometimes a $3 item may make a food pantry haul last a long time... because it is a lynch pin grocery item. It is such a important bit of info to get out to new food panty users.
I saw Vergina meat... does this mean you are close to a sharp shopper store? Their deals are just crazy cheap.
I've not been to a Sharp Shopper store but I've heard of it! Yes, I agree, it's great to get most groceries/supplies at the food pantry, if possible, then do the "fill-in" grocery trips as needed. I enjoy coffee in the morning, so it's nice to be able to get the coffee pods and the half-n-half creamer, too! I've been very lucky to get TP at the food pantry and not have to run to the store for it. I remember when the Pandemic happened and I'd never seen stores without TP, it was not a fun time! I was eating a fair amount of fast food back then and found a stash of napkins in my car, it was like winning the lottery!

And for the jars, I keep my decaf ones separate, and all the regular strength ones together but if you only do like say regular, keep it all in the big one. looks nice and I like the empty space at the top.

Hi Sarah! My favorite part of tonight’s video was all of it! I’d transfer the coffee pods into the big container if I was in charge of the kitchen. I like consolidating things. I’m glad you picked up the basket at the dumpster-I have something similar (it’s insulated) and it comes in handy. Regarding the shorts…you’re right-no one needs see-thru shorts, but something underneath (short leggings or ??) might help keep it rated PG13! 😉

@@CareFreeLivingChannel it's a great jar. I'm a jar/glass person, I like putting things in jars. I also reuse plastic bottles. Video I'm working on I showed putting lentils in a empty club soda bottle, very handy for pouring in to a measuring cup.
I got the big jar from the dump some time ago. There were no chips or cracks and it was full of water from rain. I brought it home, cleaned it up and it's wonderful! That's a great idea on storing your lentils in plastic bottles because it does pour better!

Just fast fry the meat add and melt your cheese add onions, mushrooms and some ketchup if you want too. yuuunmnny!

@@CareFreeLivingChannel the only thing I can think of is probably an Oder neutralizer spray maybe. I cook with onion a lot and the smell really doesn’t last long. That smell doesn’t really bother me anyway, though🥴

Nice haul. With that shaved beef., you could make like steak sandwiches with but I’m sure you could use it in any application stirfry like you said or anything you want. I just wouldn’t cook it real long, otherwise it could be chewy.

You could turn that shaved steak into a steak sandwich with a little cheese, some onion, and some green peppers sautéed really good

I FINALLY get to go to my food pantry (once monthly) on Thursday. I so hope they have some of those salad kits and I almost always can get a whoe, frozen rotisserie chicken. I can almost taste it now!! lol Try wearinng beige underwear with your white shorts. They dont show. My shirt comes almost down to the middle of my butt anyway, but this is a trick for white pants too.
Rotisserie chicken sounds yummy! Good idea on the beige underpants, that might work! Long shirts are nice to have.
Season your meats. Use black pepper, salt (optional) onion powder, garlic powder, oregano and paprika (optional). You will love it.

I am 74 and disabled and don't eat as well as you do.We don't shop in our pantry , they just give you a bag of canned foods, flour, small sugar, no pastries. Only once a week. How old are you? Mostly it seems due to the high-end grocery stores they coordinate with. Yes, coffee pods are expensive. It's a luxury item I really enjoy buying. A pair of boxer style "boy shorts" white underwear will make those shorts wearable. Or even white spandex shorts under them.
