A fun fact about crowdsurfing and crossing barriers: Although Igyy Pop is known to have done it earlier, the first documented video instance of crowdsurfing is actually by Bruce in Tempe, Arizona in 1980. And he made non-surfing ventures into the crowd way before that.
Those guys truly have fun on stage. Plenty of bands act like they’re having a good time. There’s no faking it with Bruce, Steve, etc….
A few tours ago Bruce actually got in the habit of crowd surfing 😂

I'm so glad you got to experience Bruce live in person. As you go to more shows and see more videos, you'll notice that the crowd has their own parts in the shows. Did you notice in Hungry Heart that the crowd sang the first verse? They've been doing that since the original River Tour in 1980. Even in foreign countries. In other songs, the crowd has their own parts too. He crowd surfed for many years too, even after he had back surgery! He only quit this last tour because of Covid and probably because of his age a bit too. He and Clarence both used to go into the audience before that in the 1978 shows during Spirit in the Night. I wish we had more videos from back then.

One of my favourite Bruce moments was on the 1999 reunion tour Bruce reserved the 2 front rows of seats and before the show one of his crew known as the man in black would move people from the nose bleed seats to the front . Yes I was lucky enough to be traded up from one of the worst seats in Manchester Arena England tp the second row. I still have the the ticket that has "guest list " on it. Love the reviews.
How long has it been since I listened to Bruce Springsteen? Maybe 30 years...when I was 19 and on my first trip to the U.S., the only thing I bought for myself was Bruce's 5-records live set. Nowadays people make a fuss about the fact that a dollar costs 150 yen, but back then it was about 300 yen, and that was all I could afford as a student. But it was a wonderful purchase. Because it was not sold in Japan.

If you want to see Bruce having fun, crowd surfing, review a video of him playing hungry heart live between 2008-2016. Just need to find a good video. Really fun to watch. I’ve actually passed him over my head more than once. Btw, I saw him play this song in Hartford but began it as “Honky Tonk woman “. Guess it’s the same cords and tuning.

79 Bruce songs. I wish the guy requesting would request one or 2 Nils Lofgrin solo songs - Some Must Dream, or Keith Don't Go. David needs to hear these epic solos to really appreciate Nils total brilliance and how much restraint he exercises in the E street band. He's one of the greatest guitar players of all time but for 40 yrsrs he has just held back and played the basic riffs for the sake of the song.
There are no "$1,000 plus seats" ... spots in the pit are GA tickets. You come at the designated time (maybe 3 PM), get a wrist band with a number on it. They put all the numbers in a jar and at 6 PM pull out one. The person with that number is the first in line and all succeeding numbers line up behind them.... it is equal opportunity for who gets up front, no "fan club" tickets, no "special packages'.

Perhaps your comments reflect why the ESB is in the Hall of Fame independent of Bruce. Is there another backing band you can say that of? Perhaps the Heart Breakers?

I think the good Mr H was referring to his review of the 2009 Out in the streets video from Hyde Park - where Bruce asked for an f'in elevator after getting winded coming back up the stairs

Bruce reached “legendary” status due to his live shows. He’s one of the few artists that I love his live renditions of his music so much more in most cases than the studio tracks. You should do a comparison video of a song like “Point Blank” and compare the studio track to the live version done in 80/81 or 2015-16 during the “River tour”. It would be worth it

This is off the BITUSA album from 1984. It had seven top ten singles (tied with Michael Jackson's Thriller album) and Bruce has said it was the furthest down the pop genre he wants to go.
About the crowd interaction: do you remember when the Blues Brothers sang country in a cage? Do you want to interact with that crowd? Ha ha ha. The barrier between the artist and the crowd has a good reason: $$$$$$$$$. If you cross the barrier you are taking a risk, a big risk that could cost a lot of millions. Imagine that a crazy fan injures the artist, he has to cancel some shows, refund money, etc etc etc.
