It may be a midlife thing, I’m 54 and have challenged myself to master nunchucks. I have been practicing since beginning of this spring, minus a month I had both wrists and hands with stitches from dog bites. It hurts still but I’m back practicing again. I’ve video of my progress and I think I’m doing pretty good. I love it, Bruised up, Pippi
You are a great teacher. I used nuns 30 years ago. I am 55 yrs old and want to start back up. Believe me I am out of shape. I wish you could of taught me back then. I was pretty good but when I watch you and other u tubers . I wasnt vary good. I just want to say thank you and I realy like the way you teach.
You have opened my mind to new ways of using nunchuks. I have been using this weapon for years but never really imagined doing most of the things you do. Thanks for your videos.
Litteraly took me 30 seconds to get tge hang of tge front to front your explination is so to the point and easy to integrate into reality im 356 lbs im useing nunchacku as a cardio work out to get back down to where going to a gym makes sense and youve helped me over come a major plateu ive been on with this as i also want to master nunchaku my daughyer also loves it shes 6 and learning rip rolls
Just so everyone knows ken is the best at giving tutorials on nunchucks. I have watched countless hours of other people giving tutorials on nunchucks and all's they say is ok you just do this, this, and that. Oh don't forget to roll your wrist. Never explaining exactly what you need to do. Then I saw ken and I was all like Damon this guy is like a Bruce lee student nunchucks. Lol also I put batteries in my foam chucks for a little more weight. Thanks ken, you're the best.
***** yes I was looking for a way to give them more weight and the guy said put batteries inside the pvc pipe and tape the bottom. I like them better now because more heavier and I am still protected from injury more :)
Ken you and your vids are awesome! You are a great teacher! I've been swinging for 30+ years and still enjoyed your vids. I fall into my old moves too easily, but you have given even me other directions to go! Keep on swinging!
Bro you are the best teacher at what you go. Keep bringing it. I know its a pretty neich hoby . Not a whole lot of people that do what we do .. but. Keep it coming mam
Thank you for the 720 Ken! I have been doing a front to back back to front combo as my go to move for a while.. You have given me a new trick to show off.
Not only are you fantastically skilled, and a very clear, concise, awesome teacher; you really do have a very genuine, down to earth and generally nice vibe as a person. Thank you very much for these videos =)
I agree on your safety methods for foam, ive done fire, wood and foam and foam is definitely way more forgiving at the beginner stage, now i stickly use wood for all training because im more advanced but man your crazy good, way better then me and good on you for advising foam because fire nunchuks hurt alot
On your reverse. Or back grip wrist roll in slo mo you say to point the one your holding straight out but when you do it at regular speed the one your holding never points out and you can do infinate back grip to back grip wrist rolls with that move as well i watch your vids all the time and have learned almost everything i know im 3 weeks into nunchuku i learned left to right wrist rolls both hands in bou 4 hrs fluently your awesome to watch a great teacher just wanted to point that out
Ken! I am so glad I found out about you! I have been a martial artist for 16 years, and have been using nunchakus as a weopon for a long time. Only recently have I been getting into flow arts ... I think you're talk on practice and injuries is hugely important. I almost broke my elbow after watching a Bruce Lee video. Although I learned a lot, and am way better, way to go on promoting safety! (Can't wait till you teach them on fire, that is a def goal)
Thanks for the video. Learned a few new tricks. Earned a new respect for you when you dropped them and didn't edit it. I agree wholeheartedly; everyone makes mistakes with them and anyone who says otherwise is lying, editing, or shooting a million re-takes before they get it right. As for the people who say "foam is for pussies", haters gonna hate. I highly doubt they are half good. Easy to leave a nasty comment with the safety of an anonymity. Just keep doing your thing man.
thanks ken hill i have watched your videos and now i use my nunchucks like pro man love your videos you are a great teacher i love to use nunchaku but i didn't know how to use them i have learned by watching your videos thanks man
I made a couple pairs out of Bamboo, for accuracy and new things. I have a heavy pair for basic moves and strength. I have a couple for speed on known moves and it's all fun!
I've got two nunchucks. One with a smaller chain and another with a longer one. I love the longer one which is a steel nunchuck, lighter than my oak nunchuck. But due to it's long chain, I can't do the wrist rolls with it. Whereas I can do it with my oak nunchuck with smaller chain. What should I do with my steel nunchuck?
I practice at night with weighted chucks so its a work out and i drop em all the tine learning new things im 1.5 months in and im down 375 to 345 just doing chucks an hour or two a day throughout the day i figure by the time im in shape ill have a good handle and when i move to regular chucks of wood or aluminum them thing gonna whistle
And by the way, my spinning got a lot better. Better control, and less falls..I am grateful to you..! :) :) I am doing lot of experimenting as well.. Still a lot to learn! It is sooooooo nice of you to ask to be safe.. Thank you:):) I used to train on oak chucks[used to hit myself many times though :D].. now I use foams.. I get lot of inspiration from your videos !!
you are such a cool guy! i found this looking up flow and poi and meteor things i never knew nunchuks could be flow i always thought it was so weapon oriented now i'm just going to start spinning everything i can find lol
i'm using heavy steel nunchaks and now my elbow is a lil bit swelling haha.. but the good news is i watch all of your videos and i'm doing all of it right :) thanks Ken
This is a great video, very inspirational! First video of yours I've watched.. I just bought myself some foam nunchucks today and I'm eager to get started on my journey to mastering them! Looks so damn cool! Thanks for the tips.. off to watch your first videos for beginners xD Thanks a lot man!
+ken hill yes well acctually i am the teacher of the school where i want to host the seminar how much will you charge me to come down to texas where sre you from
My elbows are OK, I didn't make elbow injury about 4 months, but I always drop all my chucks to the thumb on my feet :) I don't know why, but it is every day :D
***** Thank you for responding. How did you wind up with those numbers? Are those numbers based upon the length of your forearm and width of your hands? I've made a few different pairs and I can't seem to find which sizes I'm comfortable with. Did you make those chucks? Also curious how much each chuck weighs.
I use foam ^^ I'm thinking about getting glow in the dark sticks. I don't mind making mistakes to be honest.... the neighbours dog barks so so so much I LOL every time the sticks hit the ground. I'm like "yeeee wooo BANG!".
I've been viewing u a lot.&ur moves with the nunchucks.remind me of a character from soul calibur.maxi.ur really good man.I'm training to get as good as you are .I'm still working on the rist .rolls.all though I'm only able to perform one spin.I still am going to pratice at it.thks.viewing ur videos.are inspiring to me.
Totally agree, I've only just started but train with foam. Pain could be a good teacher but how can you keep training with a broken elbow, knuckle or face. Same basics with swords.
yes, thats what i mean. i agree with you. does not help when you use the real thing, a beginner could horribly injure themselves. no more training after that.
So im in taekwondo and im doing the nunchucks as my weapon of choice and I have learned everything from you and I must thank you for that but I still can't get the inf roll to save my life and its something I want to learn before I do my form in front of class can you help me
ken hill Yes I see that it’s artistic expression, and you definitely have good control in that sense. To me it’s like taking the rounds out of my AR and juggling them, guess I’m just too old haha. Carry on young man 👍🏻
I have been tearing this apart for months trying to figure it out and you ninjaed my brain in ten minutes. 🤯 crazy how one tiny disconnect throws everything off. Thanks.
Thanks for the video man, the last one you made about the wrist rolls was kind of an express video. I was able to practice those wrist rolls in a more proper and rewarding way ;)
+Jeffrey Gonzalez Actually, he bought some white foam ones, got some black tape and made like a spiral pattern on them. Ken did that because he thought it would show better on camera when they're being whirled around in circles and stuff.
dude, i have been using my socks as chucks and bin practicing the bacics for 7 years. so I want to try to do the same moves that you and bruce lee use combined. so... cowabunga.
Awesome tutorial , don't know how i've never seen your videos before but i'm so glad i've came across you , awesome chucks as well , where did you get them ? They look awesome spinning , i've got foam ones but they're far too light for.spinning .
Nope. Chain can occasionally catch you skin and fingers, and in the worst cases can actually split/cut your skin. Cord is much safer and more flexible, but it doesn't really have the satisfying clicks of chain. Otherwise, there is nothing wrong with cord at all.
+Mewtwo420 The first ones I bought had a chain on them which is really, really good for this kind of nunchaku work. Unfortunately, mine suffered minor damage then broke completely so I bought another pair. This time, though, I bought some ones with a cord which are good for Bruce Lee style nunchaku but they aren't suited to things like aerials or wrist rolls. So now I've ordered another pair of my original nunchaku and I'm SO looking forward to spinning Ken Hill style again.
+Jack Taylor Yeah, chain can hurt. It used to destroy the side of my hand (knuckle mainly) during figure 8 wrist rolls which is why I started wearing fingerless gloves to soften the impact. But I read somewhere that if skin and muscle come under too much damage or stress, muscle memory kicks in to cancel out the pain. Not sure if it's true or not, though.
Lee Whitworth That is true, though it isn't kicking in to cancel the pain, it's just used to it, so treats the impulse as a normal reaction - like clicking 'Accept' on terms and conditions, you know something may be up, but it's natural for you to ignore it.
dude I just did back to back roll - f*ck I'm so happy :D - I was trying to do it for weeks - I can only do one at a time but its a start :) for any1 else who reads this, slowing down videos really helps :)

Hey man I appreciate you dropping it man, we all human, your skill is still on point bro! Keep it up!

Actually dropping them makes you more believable AND lets me believe that I actually have a chance to learn how to spin nunchucks. Tyvm!👍🏻
Just so everyone knows ken is the best at giving tutorials on nunchucks. This made perfect sense , well explained.
Watched another video for this spin, made no sense at all.
Thanks..
I can do front to back, back to front, and front to front but I am still having trouble with back to back
That was 5years ago, how about now?
Thank you for the 720 Ken! I have been doing a front to back back to front combo as my go to move for a while.. You have given me a new trick to show off.

Sam Whillance thanks 🙏
Ken! I am so glad I found out about you! I have been a martial artist for 16 years, and have been using nunchakus as a weopon for a long time. Only recently have I been getting into flow arts ... you can also get hard plastic which are mostly the weight of light wood ones to get the feeling of it but without as much injury when they hit you
you can do this only with customised nanchak fitting to your palm size
Should flow tricks be done with suggest foam nunchucks
Amazing break down of each technique with super clear and thorough explanations! Thank you!!
7 years already..And utube recommended me today.
Anyway I'll practice those move😊
Great video. Great energy. Learned a lot from this video.
Thanks for the video. Learned a few new tricks. Earned a new respect for you when you dropped them and didn't edit it. So nice ... You are teaching skills are very good and professional.. I like it..

+ken hill yes well acctually i am the teacher of the school where i want to host the seminar how much will you charge me to come down to texas where sre you from

You teach pretty well!! Thanks
what is length of your chain between chuck ends?
How to do a wrist-roll if the chain distance is long?
Thanks dude!
These videos help out a ton!
I've been practicing with nunchucks for about 3 months now, I've learned a bunch of techniques
who taught u how to use nun chucks
Are your nunchuks speed chuks
Can you speak a bit about your chucks your using? Why you use chain over rope and the length of it. Are those chucks padded?
***** Thank you for responding. How did you wind up with those numbers? Are those numbers based upon the length of your forearm and width of your hands? I've made a few different pairs and I can't seem to find which sizes I'm comfortable with. Did you make those chucks? Also curious how much each chuck weighs.
I've finally got this ! Aha I didn't even understand how it worked but I get it now....thanks ken !
I use foam ^^ I'm thinking about getting glow in the dark sticks. I don't mind making mistakes to be honest.... the neighbours dog barks so so so much I LOL every time the sticks hit the ground. I'm like "yeeee wooo BANG!".

where we get that nachaku
Totally agree, I've only just started but train with foam. Pain could be a good teacher but how can you keep training with a broken elbow, knuckle or face. Same basics with swords.
yes, thats what i mean. i agree with you. does not help when you use the real thing, a beginner could horribly injure themselves. no more training after that.
i just dont agree with the saying,
I practiced since I was 7 in taekwondo. It hurt a lot and I had a lot of bruises. so lucky you got to start with foam. my taekwondo master was mean :(
Plz, can someone tell me if those tricks work With nunchaks in wood
Yeah of course if your good enough
I’m picturing a mime when you’re doing the rip lines.
So im in taekwondo and im doing the nunchucks as my weapon of choice and I have learned everything from you and I must thank you for that but I still can't get the inf roll to save my life and its something I want to learn before I do my form in front of class can you help me
Boy, I never knew I would be able to do this!
ken hill, thanks
It was nice meeting you
whats the length of that chain?
I want to know where are you from can you come to south texas to teach a seminar for my students
The step by step is good but, program the camera to film the moves in slow motion.
clarence trotter you can slow down your videos on UA-cam
this is the best tutorial nunchucks
It looks so easy... To come to this point there is likely a lot of training sessions before.
sir you are nicely teaching, I want to contact you sir,I am black belt in karate
Martial artists for 31yrs.
Retired military combat instructor, hapkido, judo and multiple weapons.
What is the purpose of doing tricks with a weapon?
ken hill
Yes I see that it’s artistic expression, and you definitely have good control in that sense.
Thanks.
where can i get those nunchucks?
Thanks for the video man, the last one you made about the wrist rolls was kind of an express video. I was able to practice those wrist rolls in a more proper and rewarding way ;)
hi ken , can I still do a wrist roll if the chain is twice the width of my Palm? I'm having a hard time getting it.
Thank you
How about that wr u do with your fingure ?
Where did you get those neat nunchucks? Link me
deez nuts
+Jeffrey Gonzalez Actually, he bought some white foam ones, got some black tape and made like a spiral pattern on them. Ken did that because he thought it would show better on camera when they're being whirled around in circles and stuff.
+Lee Whitworth I know that... But does aren't the foam nunchucks he's using... I'm talking about the nunchucks with triangles... Look at min 11:06
Jeffrey Gonzalez Oh, ok. Probably did the same procedure but with a different pattern, I guess. That's what it looks like.
What is your Nunshuks made of ?
dude, i have been using my socks as chucks and bin practicing the bacics for 7 years. so I want to try to do the same moves that you and bruce lee use combined. so... cowabunga.
great video thanks☺☺ I just got some nunchuku and you videos are really helping with my progress as I don't learn at a club. anyway great video ☺☺☺
Very2x nice men
I feel like the chains of the nunchucks are to short for my hand to grab the other stick, so is it actually too short or am I just bad at this?
Working on trying to get these with my extra long strings haha it's tough but I can kinda do the b2b already. Thanks for the video!
8 years of nunchucking under my belt
If this bored me I wouldn't have gave this video a thumbs up.
Can you do a video on a bunch of different re-directs? That would be great
what do you use in your video to make the back round black ?
green screen maybe !!!
Awesome tutorial , don't know how i've never seen your videos before but i'm so glad i've came across you , awesome chucks as well , where did you get them ? They look awesome spinning , i've got foam ones but they're far too light for.spinning .
Loving this, How do I see it from the beginning..
Do yoy think I can do it as well as you do?? If your answer is Yes,,,I'll start learn today and hope one day can meet you to play together🙌✊🙏
Haha,,okayy I'll try and show you🙌
😎love your tutorials bro
Hey i just ordered my first pair of nunchaku but someone said cord is better so i got cord. Is this a bad choice?
Nope. Chain can occasionally catch you skin and fingers, and in the worst cases can actually split/cut your skin. Cord is much safer and more flexible, but it doesn't really have the satisfying clicks of chain. Otherwise, there is nothing wrong with cord at all.
+Jack Taylor what r u trying to say....fuck tat..!!!
It is very nice training sir thanks
Your the man bro love the vids!
I want all spins of na chalu in one video and it's kata
Where are you man? Are you still alive 🥺
I teach less but I’m on instagram! Kenhillfire!

I DID IT!!! oooooohhhhhh yeeeeeeah!!!
Damn, I feel so proud of myself and stupid at the same time, but who cares? I did it!! :D
