Horses really DO know who’s riding them. This horse knows there’s a tiny human on its back and must keep it safe.
Yup
Either way, the horses will always behave badly some days, because horses should no be expected to behave 100% perfectly. Even if there is a small child on it's back.
My horse acts like himself with me, but he’s a literal angel with my little beginner brother
@@Roses6858 a good horse will tell you if that’s the case... and an even better horse will control all reactions no matter what.
@@Roses6858 My daughter's Morgan mare took great care of her from 8 yrs old to 17 yrs old. She rode her in orchards with just a halter and another kid on her back, took her in the mountains on poker runs, and rode & drove her in the show ring. There were bucking horses, carts hung up on the rail, people shaking cans, and dogs barking but that little mare always took care of that child and never once spooked or bucked or went crazy. She wasn't a dead horse either; she was a high-stepping English pleasure show horse who won & won because she seemed to really like pleasing the child. So, I'd have to say that SOME horses will not behave badly when there's someone they absolutely trust on their back, child or adult.
Anyone else hear the announcer. *So cute, but so last year*. I'm DYING 😂

Slowing it down at 0:58 and watching closely, both rider and horse look comfortable and safe. Kinsley is in no way "yanking" on the bit. She relies on it for steering simply because her legs are not long enough to put much pressure on Ruby's sides.
I'm a rider, have been since I was about 12 years old. I jump this height now, at 17. I've loved horses since before I could speak (according to mom :P). Imagine where Kinsley could be in her teen years! Not every kid would willingly trust an animal this powerful which shows her devotion. I always wished I could've been learning to ride at that age.
For those of you nay-sayers, consider how much training and time has gone behind this. She steers well--looking towards her turn before pulling, knows not to go too fast or slow to a jump, trusts Ruby to make the right distance when she gives her her head, and does a beautiful two-point. She is still learning, of course, and I've seen riders triple (or even quadruple) her age make the exact mistakes. But nobody is saying that a fifteen or twenty year old is "too young", they just chalk it up to their level of experience! Kinsley is comfortable in the saddle, and Ruby looks like a very safe and happy mount for her.
TL;DR Wonderful video! Very talented little girl and horse!

Over thought perhaps

"it's cute but it's so last year" had my dying. 🤣🤣🤣
It's hard not to appreciate a good behaved horse and a kid that knows how to steer without pulling. I started out with a horse like this, but I didn't jump. I pleasure rode and worked my way up to barrel racing. There is so much good that a sweet big horse can do for a young rider. Starting early does a lot for your balance and seat. I'm at a point where I can practice my barrel and pole patterns bareback, or I can sit a trot for an hour without getting sore. More young kids need good horses like this. They're worth their weight in gold and make some great memories.
At first seeing the caption for this video, my mom warning bells rang off and I was all worried someone out there was being irresponsible for internet attention.. but after watching the video... this little girl has a SOLID jump seat for her age, and that horse is a DOLL!!! So sweet and careful and just happily jumping whatever he's pointed at :) So cute!
Had a huge smile on my face by the end of the video!
That horse is just a gem, isn't she? Every little kid should have a companion that willing and careful!
This! Everyone is gushing about what a talented child this is but that horse is being soooo careful and sweet and taking such good care of her. I can't believe she (the horse) is so young. What a sweetheart.

OMG! There's always got to be a Debbie Downer!!
This is a beautiful partnership! The horse is well schooled, safe and cautious.
The girl is in proper riding attire, wearing a helmet, has supervision and has obviously done this before.
As far as thinking she should be on a pony for "safety " reasons, horses, in general, are much more responsive, reliable and trustworthy than ponies by a long shot. The risk of her falling and cracking her head open is just as likely to happen on a pony as well as a horse.
Accidents are going to happen regardless of the steps we take but we shouldn't stop our kids from living their lives because we might be scared of what COULD happen.
I commend her parents.
Why are we horsey folk such negs? I understand saying something if a heavy novice is banging around like a sack of potatoes on an unsound horse but "if your horse so much as snorts go back to ground work now before you both die horribly" comments are just nuts.

I don't know how a 5 year old can remember this course, I mean I couldn't remember a course like this she is sooooo cute😸
An experienced horse can easily make out the sequence of obstacles and take a young rider through it. Speaking from own experience - my trainer's advice before starting my first parcours: "just hold on to the mane and don't do anything". The horse was 23 years old. Congrats to both the kid and the horse, they make a great pair of athletes.
BAHAAHAH FR
@@Iranda_ this horse was 7 it’s amazing:)
@@coconutt6696 It's an angel of a horse.
@@Iranda_ lol my trainers advise is if you turn and there are three possible jumps and you dont know where your going the horse will guess for you and 9 times out of 10 they guess the wrong fence.
During the minute and a half I rode, I was at the stable when a maybe 6-year-old girl was mounted on a 17 hand horse for a jumping lesson. They literally had to tie up the shortest length of stirrup leathers for her to be able to reach the stirrups. And she did great, the horse did great. If you're raised in the saddle, with smart and safe teachers, it's no surprise that this level of riding can be achieved at this early an age. As for whoever trained that ONLY 7 YEARS OLD! horse - kudos. Also, reinforces my belief that Morgans are a great, underappreciated breed.
I’m a 14 years old nearly 15 and I’m just getting to 2 foot jumps after 8 years of riding. This girl doesn’t have the confidence issues I have. Incredible. On one hand I want to have children and I hope they like horses as much as me but on the other hand I don’t know how much I can have a child. Really incredible on this child anyway!
This child has an extraordinary future. SHE WAS GPFIVE WHEN SHE WAS JUMPING THIS HEIGHT. This video was filmed four years ago. She’s nine imagine what height she’s jumping now. I’m only ten and I jump Cross-Rails. I started riding when I was four. This kid is a legend, she was born in a saddle.
Edit: I meant to write “This kid is a legend, she was born to be in a saddle.”
I'm 11 I jump both verticals and cross rails both troting and canter out
What was I doing at 5 years old?

Some of these comments are just.... I don't know, I fear for the future of mankind if this is what people can be like!! I'm 36 and I wouldn't have the guts to do this now (I used to ride competitively as a teenager and jumped this height and more but no way could I do it now!!) This child is 5 years old for God's sake, be a bit nicer ok?!
you did great kid!!!!dont stop what you're doing! and never let people bring you down!they are jealous of you!:) and ruby is a beautiful horse!:) .it's good learning at a young age nothing wrong with it,it's best at that age anyway lol.
Horse Lover my daughters boyfriend has only been riding since April of 2016. He’s now preparing for his 1st sj comp this April. So proud of him. He’s doing it on my pony and he’s not an easy boy.
U can see his practice over a little course of 70cm jumps.
I feel like the horse was trained to respond to different cues, as her legs are too small to be of much use for turns and stuff. Transition up maybe but not turning. Growing up, I think she’ll have to learn to use her leg effectively. She has a really good seat though for her age, so just working on leg probably won’t be complicated but I’m not a trainer... I just know that even with my full sized leg, the horse isn’t always as responsive as I would like :,)
@@cheesethekoala8756 might be voice commands. Like vocal cues.
Aww! When the horse was gentle as she fell out of the saddle a bit ❤ so cute! Thought do think the girl may need to build up a little more strength before jumping 2’6.

She's lucky that this horse can find good strides on its own because she's not helping by staying in two point at least four strides before each jump! Other than that very very cute and she is extremely talented for her age😊stay safe xx
She's only five, you can't expect her to be perfect. Just remembering the course was probably pretty hard for her.
That's how I learned to jump when I first started. All the beginning jumpers at my barn learned that way, going into two point a stride or two before the jump to get used to the position and feel of the horse's movements. And it helped us not get left behind and thrown over the horse's head. Considering how small she is, it's probably for the best. :3
Gabi Stells she's young and still learning. Give the girl a break.
Gabi Stells I agree but u gotta go back and think she's only 5 and she probably doesn't understand what a 2 point is or when to lean. But I totally do agree. U get a like for that comment 😄

That kids a better rider than me lol....I can't and wouldn't jump that high and I'm 40🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣...you taught her well💗very talented little girl xxxx
I'm seriously not trying to hate, but I need to put this out there. This is unsafe for both the horse and rider involved. First of, I don't think she should be jumping 2' 6", and not because of her age, it's great she is that confident, but she isn't even cantering the majority of these jumps. Trotting jumps at this height is dangerous for the horse, as it can cause strained/teared muscles from the effort the horse is putting into stretching. Going off of that, this implies she can't even canter a course. I'm sorry, but if you can't canter a course, you should NOT be jumping 2' 6". Cantering a cross-pole course, even a 2' course, needs to be mastered first. The control needed to canter a 2' course helps with getting around a course at larger heights. This pony is a saint for this kid, if I were this horse, I would have bucked her off personally. She is using the bit for balance, which is completely unacceptable, that can cause serious damage to the tissue in the mouth of the horse, and this teaches her to use the bit for balance, which can affect her riding later down the road. She needs to master smaller jumps before moving up, also working on position and form, heck, even grab some mane, but don't pull on the horses mouth. Anyway, I just had to get that out there, she needs to take a few steps back. For her age though, I think she has some serious potential.
Julia Shields horses can safely jump from a trot anything under 3 ft
MyWelshieAndI hmm, that would make sense I suppose.
Melissa Botha Not for most of them, there are no 3 well paced canter strides before the jumps.
Julia Shields I agree with you she is using reins for balance and personally I know she's 5 and all but at a 2'6" jump even a 2' jump she should NOT be leaning that forward. And I know she's 5 but seriously just please she shouldn't be showing in than 2' divisions that horse is a Saint. I am sorry but seriously she needs to have a more thinkable mind at 5 they aren't even in kindergarten yet. And I have trotted my horse up to a 1. 20 and he jumped it perfectly fine (he's 18hh) and it's perfectly fine for them if they are using it to become more stronger and flexible I asked my vet about it.
Jumping Queen If your horse is that big it isn't horrible, but it isn't a very good idea
