I've checked out the Midi cable at Retrokit, it has to be configured in advance for the Kaossilator, one can pick that option on their site. Maybe some buyers didn't get it configured correctly...otherwise I don't understand why it wouldn't work with other Midi keyboards.
Excellent sound. Do you plug in and then it immediately recognises the two devices with out having to use external drivers/software? If so it’s what I’m looking for as I proudly own a stunning Kaossilator and keyboards. I have tried music shops and Amazon in an attempt to get one of these special midi leads but to no avail. Where did you get yours may I ask? Thanks.

Works with any midi controller connected to a Kaossilator. The cable only has to be set up for the device being controlled, you can use any controller you want.
Your video may have been some time online, but this is great news. Owning a Kaossilator Pro its exactly what I always wanted to do - using it with a Keyboard. Just went to the retrokits website and ordered the cable preconfigured for Kaossilator. Hope this works for my Kawai MP 8 II Stage Piano - I love its keys but hate its sounds (except Piano and E-Piano)
Yep that should work. My only concern - and I don't think I mentioned this in the video - is that I had trouble with polyphonic MIDI signals, it always seemed to translate as monophonic. I'm sure there'd be a way, though. Thanks for watching my video!
@@gearfacts I just bought the RK-002 cable configured for the Kaossilator mine is the Kaossilator Pro + and although it responds to midi note data it doesn't respond to CC13 modulation the Y axis. Am I missing something?

As got kaossilator 2 and was trying last night to control it with keyboard but I couldn't get it to work I did hook up a midi Bluetooth adapters to it tho was successful

I have a midi cable.. Korg minilogue and same kaosillator in this video.. But have no idea how to plug in the 2 to control one or the other.. Trying to have the keyboard play the kaosillator
Hi, for the first time I have connected an external keyboard (alesis Q25) to a kaossilator pro plus, I have been able to select program changes from the kaossilator plus (MIDI communication works), but I cannot get it to play the notes from the keyboard. Do you know if I need an adapter , or is a kaossilator plus configuration error?. Thanks
unfortunately I bought kaosscilator pro plus thinking that it was fully MIDI compatible but I see that I will need a hardware MIDI to CC converter as well, but it is not easy to find it here in Spain.
Hi! Would be possible if you explain how to get the kaossilator ready for receiving midi notes? I have been trying and it only receives program changes, control changes,etc. There is a midi note filter on the Kaossilator. Supossedly when set to ENA the Kaossilator would be able to play midi notes sent by an external controller, but i couldn`t achieve any result. Could you achieve that only by using the RK-002 Midi cable and is not possible other way? (i saw the video you uploaded months ago,and then you couldn`t set Kaossiltaor for playing midi notes) Thank you!

No computer at all, just a direct connection between the two. It's ingenious. Retrokits is the only place I have heard of that sells it. Maybe search the second hard market, people do sell them on ebay, reverb etc sometimes

Unfortunately i bought the RK-002 and tried the Kaossilator Pro+ Axiom 25 with it and could not get the two to communicate. So i had to get a refund on the RK-002. Apparently the RK-002 has to have power in witch the axiom didn't supply. My opinion is that the makers of the RK-002 should make it to where it has an option for a battery or someway to power it independently. I was bummed because being able to control the Kaossilator Pro with a midi keyboard would have been awesome but Oh Well.
I wish i waited your reply, we are in the same situation, i just bought ,although i cant blame the retrokit, they are good, its just we need many things to run it, and spend a lot, i think we need to buy this (midi solution event proccesor plus) but still risky.. i ended up to return the cable soon. And just buy a synth keyboard. Sad because kpro + has a nice sounds its a complete package.
A question. Does the knobs slider and arpeggiator on djx work with Kaoss pro? Does the numbered button matrix let you select program values or change settings?
This video is misleading to say the least. It should be pointed out that this cable doesn't work properly with the Kaossilator Pro+ only notes are recognized not modulation CC13.
I don't know if that qualifies as "misleading to say the least"... I think I made it pretty clear that the RK002 is good fun, but not a complete solution.

It won't work with a normal midi cable, it has to be this specific type ...or you can program a raspberry pi. But I couldn't make that work

No, it doesn't work. You have to get a RetroKits RK-002 cable which can be ordered online.

Are you using a standard MIDI cable or a Retrokits RK-002 cable?

Can I play the sounds/samples (that I have in my MIDI keyboard) on my Kaossilator via this cable?
I think that'd be possible, but you'd have to study the midi code charts in the Kaossilator's manual quite carefully to set it up right.

Yeah it only works with the RK midi cable. Ordinary ones won't do much.
