Hi Brandon, focus on just playing the melody alone first. Then add in the bass notes. Eventually you can add in the full chord. Hi there, figuring out the melody is not easy. You need to first practice singing solfege with your regular scale exercises. Then you need to figure out the solfege notes of the melody one by one, then string them together. What I present in the video (the solfege part) is the end result of figuring out the melody with solfege. If you're just starting out, you should spend lots of time (days, weeks) figuring out the melody of each song. It's slow at first but trust me, it gets much faster when you've done it hundreds of times.
Man it's very helpful cause I was learning the Mateus Asato arrangement of this song.
