Random account but I used to be a severe alcoholic. I was able to go to work each day but that was about it, and even then I had more than a few drinks before the drive there. At my worst I was going through about the equivalent of a gallon of vodka a day usually split between 5ths and IPAs. Through a three year stretch of extreme drinking I lost my relationship, totaled my car, broke my right hand and both wrists, was put on leave from work, have broken/lost multiple things dear to me like watches, necklaces, my first PC, etc, fractured my left foot, embarrassed myself too many times to count, and so much more. A close friend died in front of me at a house party due to alcohol poisoning. I almost died due to alcohol poisoning if it weren't for my step-grandpa taking me in and caring for me after I was pulled out of my car and driven home by a stranger. I was passed out, had pissed myself and thrown up multiple times and stopped breathing for multiple periods of time. My brother went to prison for DUI, evading arrest and more. My sister ruined her relationship with our family through constant drunken outbursts. My dad who I haven't seen in years got charged with multiple felonies related to DUI, S1 drug production, and more. I've seen lots of lives ruined and I've lost years to alcohol abuse. There is a fine line between "haha yeah party time", and breaking your fist from punching your mirror after seeing your own reflection. I know it's a lot of yapping but alcohol is so normalized and made out to be some fun party drink especially by big influencers like Nelk, Togi, and so, so many more where it's just shown as a good time; and for some people it can be. But if you or your family has a history of addiction I'd recommend staying away from it aside from maybe social occasions. It is so painful for me to watch people like Josh be encouraged to drink and make a fool out of themselves by losers because I can see so much of myself in him. The moment I got 'drunk' for the first time I loved how it made me feel, social, I could actually speak freely with people and let my guard down, felt like people liked me more when I drank. But the only people who really care about you, are the ones who try and keep you out of that shit. It's hard to admit as a man but seeing what's happening to Josh has made me cry. I had my mom, and grandparents to save me but Josh is lost in a void of social media and stupid kids wanting to see the next dumb thing he does. I hope and pray he gets the help he needs because right now there is no good ending in sight. TLDR: Alcohol kills in more ways than one. Josh needs help but he'll never get it. The ratio of dumb wannabe frat teens to people who actually care about him is 20:1. The ship is sinking, hopefully someone can take him in.

genuine question here, can't the police do something? public intoxication, disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, assault/battery and so on, there's literal proof of all of this and yet it doesn't look like that's even been attempted (as far as i know). josh being mentally delayed and in constant trouble while not having any actual guidance should qualify him for a group home or something right? it's probably just blind optimism on my part but i really do think that may be the best course of action at this point.

I feel like a lot of yall don't actually understand autism and how it effects people. I cannot imagine what this kid experiences on a daily basis internally... especially basically living on his own with pretty clear autism he really just needs to get off the internet. He is using the alcohol to suppress a lot of the internal experiences he has as someone on the spectrum. At this point he's just an alcoholic but it started with him probably coping with everything that comes with having autism and basically no family to speak of. He actually needs a literal caretaker. I also must say I find it sort of incredible he travels by himself.
As a recovering alcoholic it's takes years to do irreversible damage, like 5-6 years, don't get me wrong he needs help, but the focus on help should be towards who's he hanging around, the people around him are much worst then the drinking he's doing

The poor man is suffering and it breaks my heart. I'm living with Polydrug use trying to get better, it's SO easy to pick the easier route with addiction short term. genuine question here, can't the police do something? public intoxication, disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, assault/battery and so on, there's literal proof of all of this and yet it doesn't look like that's even been attempted (as far as i know). josh being mentally delayed and in constant trouble while not having any actual guidance should qualify him for a group home or something right? it's probably just blind optimism on my part but i really do think that may be the best course of action at this point.

I feel like a lot of yall don't actually understand autism and how it effects people. I cannot imagine what this kid experiences on a daily basis internally... especially basically living on his own with pretty clear autism he really just needs to get off the internet. He is using the alcohol to suppress a lot of the internal experiences he has as someone on the spectrum. At this point he's just an alcoholic but it started with him probably coping with everything that comes with having autism and basically no family to speak of. He actually needs a literal caretaker. I also must say I find it sort of incredible he travels by himself.
As a recovering alcoholic it's takes years to do irreversible damage, like 5-6 years, don't get me wrong he needs help, but the focus on help should be towards who's he hanging around, the people around him are much worst then the drinking he's doing
Not to mention it's these people that really encouraged his addiction in the first place.
I hope he has family we don't know about, and they get conservatorship or something, because these guys puppeting him are sick.

The poor man is suffering and it breaks my heart. I'm living with Polydrug use trying to get better, it's SO easy to pick the easier route with addiction short term. As soon as the temp behavior stops and the support disappears and usually rock bottom becomes a cycle the gets deeper infinitely until it kills you. Lost a good number of friends to substance use.
