A good way to recruit is to look at your teams players in the dynasty, and look at how many stars most of the players have. Then stick to recruiting that. I play with Oklahoma State so I go mainly for 3, 2 and 1 star players and mainly stay in pipelines & in state. Once you have the spots you need filled go look for other players. This way if you have surprise guy’s drafted you can fill spots after season. The last thing don’t feel the guy you recruit has to play the position you bring them in for. You can totally move any player to any position if their size fits. I usually get a guy that may be a hybrid safety and move them to linebacker redshirting him and playing him in four games. They might be a 33 overall but at the beginning of the next season, he will go up to about a 70 overall sometimes 65 overall even sometimes 90 overall. I do this but pretty much every player I get you add the 20 pounds or drop the 20 pounds and you can add 10 pounds per season or takeoff 10 pounds per season never change the height. This is what real coaches do.
I would love to see the game add in something where players will gain weight and strength. Something I have always wanted since no player stays the same weight all 4 years. I like to move players once or to level out the positions in the depth chart sometimes a ROLB will be 78ish overall and jump to a high 80s as a LOLB makes no sense lol
I never scouted a player takes to much of my hours i pick blind just go by height weight city n state it make it hard i challenged myself with out trying but i like the ideal of making it hard even change of sliders
I do auto recruiting, only thing I can do is clear lockouts/scout/and rearrange the board. I can only recruit in off season with transfer portal/interested prospects/team needs but if no one is interested at that position I limit myself to 3 stars. But here's the kicker if my board is full I have to recruit what the CPU has on my board until I get locked out or they commit. Doing a wvu rich rod dynasty in year 1 I'm 2-2 and only have like 6 players on the board that are interested. I do not allocate points myself. I simmed year 1 and only got 1 4 star 15 3 stars 2 2 star tranfers number 79 class it's actually pretty realistic for a mid tier and bottom tier school. I'm trying to keep myself on the path of 3 stars sprinkled with maybe 1 to 2 4s if any. WVU doesn't really get guys.
I've also encouraged transfer on everyone that left in the portal. Year 2 I'm actually thinking about if a player tries to transfer making a house rule where I cannot persuade. I have no fun with fast rebuilds and all 5s and 4 stars. I like finding gem 3 stars that have anywhere from 4-12 caps.
I don't hate the idea of auto recruiting I may start to use it to create my board and go from there or maybe half and half. I like the grind as well and I only transfer guys that have a playing time reason for leaving if they will play next season. Everything else I let go
I am even more restrictive because the progression is so high. Even recruiting all 1 star players, you're a national championship team when they're seniors.
So this is where I get confused. I know nothing about football or recruiting. I just remember loving playing the game with my friends in 2014 so I picked it up. I started a franchise for lack of remembering what the mode is called. How many recruits should I have from year to year? I was part way through the year with the gators and I had 3 recruits I feel like I should of had more but I dont know.
It depends some years you may need more depending on draft class, transfers and players graduating. You can hit R3 when you are in the recruiting menu to get an idea. As for how many you should have at that point it also varies I have had up to 12-15 by week 10 if I am having a good cycle but also have had years with 1-3 when I am not. If you are going after top players (which you should) then they will be slower to commit most times

You should definitely have more than 3, though if you're early on in your dynasty recruits won't sign right away. For instance, in my current Michigan playthrough I'm signing all my recruits by week 6, but it's normal to not have most of your class til the last couple weeks early on Keep in mind your roster size is fixed, you can have no more than 85 players. So what I normally do is in the notes app on my phone I put in every single player that isn't a senior with their dev trait (this helps me figure out who to cut, since a 75 OVR true freshman with elite dev can quickly pass an 80 OVR true freshman with normal dev). Then underneath that I keep track of how many players at each position are graduating and aim to replace them all one to one, though this also requires forethought if you're using redshirts (which you should). I always recruit a few extra, including in the portal, to try to increase my overall talent level and to replace any surprise draftees. So basically I recruit one for each senior on the roster plus maybe 5-10 extras depending on my team's talent level. To answer your question though, I've found my sweet spot to be anywhere from 15-22 depending on class sizes. You have up to 35, but unless you're new to a school that wasn't carrying a full roster you shouldn't be going that high, you end up having to cut players you don't want to. If you have any other questions let me know I can try to help. I'm on year like 20 of my main playthrough so I've done this song and dance many times.
@@joshg1845 Thanks that was a ton of help once I get off work today. I'm going to hop on and see where I'm at I haven't played in a month or 2. I know for a fact I only had 3 committed.
It depends there is no clear cut overall level they are cut at but it is safe to assume anyone 75-78+ will be in the game everyone else is typically cut entirely. The game will take them and move them to a team that needs that player by alphabetical order. And you see them the week after the cut week, I found it is easiest to go to the roster tab and select their position and go through them one by one doesn't take more than 3 minutes if you are paying attention

@ trust me you can move Physical wide receivers to middle linebacker. They get platinum, gold, and silver robber.
love the vids! can you do an alternate history realignment guide where the big 12 collapses instead of the pac-12
Texas would've joined the pac for sure
In fact let me link a video that goes over that
This is on my to do list some time soon!
Yup they would have if it wasn't for that pesky Longhorn network lol

I never did scout players until like year 5-6 when I had the hours, I think limiting who you bring in makes it the most difficult for sure

Low key I have seen consistent 1-2 star players with abilities but rarely get them for 3 star players its the wildest thing

Does cutting upper class guys remove them from game entirely? When do you see the guys go onto other rosters?
