    I'm on fixed wireless, could barely get above 30mbps. After NBN scheduled maintenance, I've hit 80mbps, and after 7:00 pm still doesn't drop below 60. After what I've been getting the last couple years, I'm satisfied with these speeds. Hopefully NBN will continue to make further upgrades and allow for greater capacity.

      @@Robroscob it's really cheap at the moment, with their current promotion you essentially get the hardware for free. It looks like they're being really aggressive on expanding in Australia these past few months is why.
      Normally it's 900 for the hardware not including shipping, but atm it's 450, includes shipping cost, and if you sign up with the adverts on Facebook that mentions it includes 2 months of service as well your laughing for a free trial.
      Big warning though, you need to make sure you have a good place to put it, it really does need a good clear view of the sky to work without interruptions, or it's pretty terrible experience when doing anything like gaming or live calling. This could become the biggest extra cost... Your lovely trees being cut down by a professional (upwards of 500 plus a job)... Or a nice big mount diy or installed might set you back 100-1500 Bux depending on what you need to get that good clear sky view for it

      no it's NBN property. As soon as you order a plan from a provider theres a checkbox stating if its a new connection (and if you need fixed wireless) if so they organize an installer from NBN to come out first. Once installed it send s a ping back saying live ready to go. I was connected to my plan provider (Tangerine at the time im now on Aussiebroadband) within an hour or two of the installer leaving.

      It's very important that people factor in population and environmental factors like landscape when they 'attempt' to make any "comparison" to another country.
      The worse thing we every did for this country was build the NBN and over promise what is infact possible

    • @ballbous
      @ballbous 10 місяців тому

      @@tmillerau It is easily possible to give every Australian 100Mbps, this has been costed both by the government and independently and our NBN cost more. When your NBN is really a means to funnel government money into a bunch of private entities, it becomes clear why our NBN is awful.
      The cost comes from delivering the bandwidth to each household; transporting the signal between towns with large distances separating them is typically much cheaper, and bodes well for the ability to deliver FTTP to many households, it's much more difficult in built up areas; though there is obviously a much larger political and fiscal incentive to providing high speed internet to cities, as opposed to rural areas.
