Oldest trick in the book. I keep lots of old nuts to sand dust off of for nut slot rebuilding. Superglue and nut dust, and you have the bomb nut file set already. Never used any other nut files since buying my Music Nomad set.

Old nut dust - nice! Do you place the dust in the slot and then drip the super glue on top?

@@FrancoCNC No. Not that you couldn't. But that's too dangerous for me. I always batch up my nut putty on the side first, and then use toothpicks to apply it. Superglue had a tendency to squirt everywhere. It's curtains for most finishes.

@@andrewbecker3700 Cool. I was wondering what the working time would be for something like that. Good to know. Thanks for sharing.

@@FrancoCNC Well.....,since you asked. If you know anything about superglue type adhesives, then you should already know there's no steadfast answer for that question. Motorcycle handlebar grip manufacturers manytimes include specific drying time glues with their grips. There's many different estimated cure rates for them. I don't understand why this matters, if your a competent luthier it's not that tricky. My point was mostly about not EVER having a container of glue over the top of a guitar. Don't he afraid.

@@andrewbecker3700 Good point. Super glue spilled on a guitar (or just about anything) is a total mess.

Good job, it's too bad those files are so expensive, but worth it in the end if you have more nuts that need work.

Same issue on my EC256. I went with a tusq. Less fiddling.

Maybe get a tripod. Jerking the camera around makes it difficult to watch

Why bother with doing a botch job? Just make a new nut. A bone blank or a Tusq blank isn´t expensive.

I thought about replacing the nut. But, I figured I'd try this first. If you look really closely, you can tell I filled the slot. But, aside from that, I can't see any downside to the repair. The strings seem to stay in tune just fine. Everything seems to sound/play/work as expected. But, I'd be willing to try my hand at making a new nut one day.
