    Hi Tomlin! I've been working with harps in a rack as part of my singer/songwriter gig for over 30 years, so I'm not new but I am getting more serious about my harp playing.
    Your vids are really helping a lot (just about to order a french tuner and basic tool kit from Andrew). Thanks for everything you're posting...I'll be watching. All the best!

    This video is great. I've only been able to hit overblows on the 6th hole... After watching this video- for some reason- the 4 and 5 overblows started jumping out for me! Haven't even adjusted a reed yet... But this video brought the mojo

    Tom, any chance you make a same video about overdraws? I l looked all over YT and didn't find a detail video on adjusting reed (7) for overdraw and precise technique behind it on how to hit it right without getting the major 3 before?

    Hi Tomlin, you’ve been really helpful while I’ve been learning harmonica. I just wanted to ask, do I have to adjust the reeds on my harmonica in order to overblow or can it be done without?

    Hello, do the blade spacing settings affect the accuracy of the notes? should I tune the Harmonica after adjusting the blades? Thank you so much!

    Hello Tomlin, I'm not sure I want to start doing surgery on my harps. Is it really necessary? Are my two choices really: Do it myself or Buy a custom harp?
    Thanks,
    Don Coppock.

    Is there a particular gap measurement you want to look for? Some of my draw bends (3,1) don’t quite get to the lowest note with the bends. 3 also sounds choked off to.
    Do you do draws the same way to make the draw bends sound better if you’re having an issue with them? I can get nice clear draw bends on my F harp but my C sounds choked off on a couple holes as I mentioned.
    Thanks

    Greetings from Brazil Tomlin! Let me ask you something, I've just started learning to overblow, and I'm watching a lot of videos about ajusting the harmonica. When you customize your harmonicas you just ajust the reed decreasing the gap or do you do the embossing/waxing? thanks in advanced.

    • @TomlinHarmonica

      Do you have any tips when you overblow and the harmonica are "squealing", it usually happens on holes 4 and 5.

    Great vid. Thanks. Hey I ruined my harp....you, you..... Joke! Seriously I wrecked a few. Used old ones though. What basically is that french tuner tool you got from Andrew? What does it allow you to do? You know where I can pick one up in the states? Wanna let you know how much I appreciate your lessons. You are a mad good harp player as well.

    Hi.. gonna put some of your technical know how to good use... Question: I have discovered that Golden Melodies are not very responsive to overblowing -- for years I have had, regarding overblows, no problem with out-of-the-box quality MB type harps. Can I use the info in this video to tweak my Golden Melodies to overblow worthiness? -- (at my own risk, of course).

      +Carl J. Weber hi Carl, absolutely. In fact a lot of people prefer GMs for overblowing. Good luck :-)

    I can't see Stevie Wonder ever having to have carried this out. Does that mean every harmonica manufactured now is a pile of shite like everything else these days? lol

    • @TomlinHarmonica
      @TomlinHarmonica  7 років тому

      +Lee Sanderson hi Lee, not at all. Stevie Wonder plays a chromatic harmonica where you push a button on the side to get the extra notes. On a diatonic harmonica you need to bend and overblow to get those extra notes. This requires a specific set up.

    • @leepshin
      @leepshin 7 років тому

      ***** It's a chromatic harmonica I got for christmas expecting to get the note bending by pressing the button but all the button does is transpose the whole key set from C to C#. No note bending and I've spent hours trying believe me. Beginning to think it "does" have to be set up some way especially to get rid of the annoying dual notes you get. Just want to play one note but I always get 2 and it sounds like an accordian when I draw or blow. Still tryin to work out how to stop that as well. lol

    • @SpecsProduction
      @SpecsProduction 6 років тому +1

      Lee Sanderson you can't bend on 90% of chromatic harmonicas unless you remove the valves. Stevie never bended as best as I've been able to transcribe. But he would anticipate a lot of pitches one half step lower so the 'bend' was him engaging or disengaging the slide something like a 16th note ahead of the beat producing a mock 'bend'.

    • @dezwujie
      @dezwujie 2 роки тому

      Technically any two reeds will have a bend as long as one is higher pitch than the other.. on a chromatic in 'solo' tuning none of the reeds are more than a whole step apart so you can never get more than a half step bend, and they're all draw bends. At least that's how it seems to work on my cheap Easttop 10 hole chromatic
