In my 50 years of biblical study I've never known any other theologian who can convey the sweeping truth of the Scriptures better or simpler than Dr. Heiser.
Beautiful talk. We have to remember that relaying heavenly concepts in this world is almost impossible. God loves us. Whatever heaven is, we will be with him, that's all we need. Let him surprise us. Can't wait.. come Lord Jesus come!
According to the Scriptures, you can make different plans since if you aren't anointed with Holy Spirit the same as Jesus was, then you won't be going to Heaven. Only Jesus and the 144,000 have that anointing.

I find myself listening to Michael over and over again. Each time my spirit picks up new imagery and a deeper love for my King of kings. I would hope all Pastors would listen to Michael and glean what is left behind in most teachings and to see the Word of God, in a more “supernatural” way. Sorta entering another realm, so to speak. Thank you FATHER God for the continuation of Dr Heisers’ teachings. Amen 🙏🏻 🙏🏻🙏🏻
The thing is they won't because they've (and I am generalising) been indoctrinated into a way of interpreting the bible. It's pretty much full circle back to the Pharisees. Modern day churches are their equivalent. The bible, as you know, is multi layered but main stream religious teaching only takes you so far. This is where Michael is far more knowledgeable.
Yes, and thank God we have his teaching. Very thoughtful man with enlightening lectures. O used to binge listen to Naked Bible podcast and other lectures, while going to bed. Believe me, asleep or awake, his mellow, calm voice is feeding the mind, soul & spirit. Shalom
I’m keeping my expectations low but still wanna go to those heaves to get a good ending in my life for once, although I don’t wanna see any of the stuff in it cuz just staying hidden and not ruining any of the presence of whatever is up there is enough for me knowing that at least I’m there, but yet at the same time I get depressed when reading the verses each time I do instead of the opposite
My sense of Heaven, per Scripture, is that Heaven is described as a beautiful place that mortals cannot fathom, and that even the most stunning imagery its words create in our minds, will pale in comparison to experiencing actually being there. And for all of its extraordinary beauties, the most exhilarating and awesome part of Heaven will be being in the actual presence of the Lord and His glory. But we can't comprehend such a place in our present, sinful shells of flesh. And in the very first moment we are there, all of the theological mysteries and debates we once obsessed over will seem strangely irrelevant.
Heaven has never been promised for Yahuwah's predestined/elect family members. Nowhere in scripture has "heaven" been promised as a a reward. Not one time. The New Jerusalem is the only thing close to this heaven that people think they're headed to when they die. Even then, they do not go and possess a place in Yahuwah's current domain. We simply go to the grave awaiting the resurrection. Yeshua did say this though. 5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. Matthew 5:5 KJV. Not even King David is in heaven. 34 For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, Acts 2:34 KJV.
@@JW-rn5ee, see, the Bible says Heaven IS a place of reward: "Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you." (Matthew 5:12) "Rejoice in that day, and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven Luke" 6:23) "To the one who conquers I will grant to eat of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God." (Revelation 2:7) Those who have died in Christ do NOT sleep in graves - their SOULS go immediately into the presences of the Lord, while their BODIES await resurrection and glorification that will unite with their souls: "He is not God of the dead, but of the living. You are quite wrong.” (Mark 12:27) "Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:8) (Souls in Heaven are NOT sleeping in graves! "When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the witness they had borne. 10 They cried out with a loud voice, “O Sovereign Lord, holy and true, how long before you will judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?” (Revelation 6:9) Moses and Elijah, speaking to Jesus at the Mount of Transfiguration, were NOT asleep in graves! "And behold, two men were talking with him, Moses and Elijah, 31 who appeared in glory and spoke of his departure,[b] which he was about to accomplish at Jerusalem." (Luke 9: 30-31)
I don't know why deep thinkers have to deconstruct each verse as if they are going to be the ones to unlock the mind of God. God Himself has said there will be things that no man will get until the end. Every part of the Bible uses every kind of phrasing, from analogy to poetry to storytelling, to hidden truths! God's got this! Why worry about what happens when we die and if we will have a room or a house? Wouldn't it be better to have a sleeping bag and live on the beach in heaven than a palace on the earth as it is? Anywhere in heaven doing what the Father intended is best. ❤ And we, as His intended bride must do as He calls upon us to do here, as we await His coming, till He comes to take us to take us to whatever future He has prepared for us. 😊 I don't know about you, but wait with bated breath and an almost overcoming desire to have that happen soon! ❤😊
The throne of God is described as being above a sea of stars. In the literal temple the Great Basin perched upon the 12 bronze bulls is sometimes called “ the sea” it was used to purify the high priest and under priests for service in the Temple ( a form of baptism) both the literal sea , or basin, in the temple and the sea of stars are a place between the throne of Jehovah and mankind. In Revelation 21 when the Heavenly City new Jerusalem comes to earth and there is no longer a temple humanity is reconciled to God just as Adam was in Eden prior to the fall. The Sea, or expanse between God and man, is no more because “ the tent of God is with mankind” and there is no longer a separation between heaven and earth . That’s my take, I could be wrong now, but I don’t think so.
I LOVE DR HEISER! Can’t wait to see him in the resurrection I sure wish he would realize that lake of fire is not literal, but rather a picture of a refiners crucible!

No, it's not a big mystery once you know the truth. They are symbolic terms. New Heavens- A new Government, God's Kingdom New Earth- A society of righteous people ruled by the Kingdom
Literal translations, particularly of individual "words" can easily "screw-up" the intended meaning of a communication. This particularly true with translations of non-cognate languages such as Japanese and English. Even idiomatic phrases within the same contemporary "mother tongue" can be problematic. ex. The late Canadian Peter Jenning's reference to a phrase used by a passenger on the ill fated 9/11 flight which crashed at Shanksville PA - "Let us roll" when the original American phrase was "Let's Roll ! Many Indo-European and Eastern languages are very context driven, and English is not an easy second language for many from those regions of the world. My Japanese wife of over 50 years frequently "provides great opportunity" to remember this. When one spends much time in Bible study, one of the interesting features of the Hebrew culture (at least in Biblical times was their use of the "Remez" construct as a teaching method by the temple priests.
Consider the point made by theologian Randy Alcorn (paraphrased): What if the scriptural descriptions of the New Heavens and the New Earth are not exclusively symbolic or literal, but literal with profound symbolic meaning?
The word Heaven means to heave upwards like the piece of offering at the sacrificial Altar that was reserved for the High priest called a heave offering.
Whenever we see prophecy fulfilled (like the cross fulfilling Isaiah 53) it has both a "cosmic" (also called symbolic, figurative, general idea) and a literal (also called a natural, literary) fulfillment. It is not an either/or, but a both/and. To say symbolic only is to promote unbelief, and to say literal only is to not understand the meaning. That there will not be any sea is both literal, and meaningful; that is, the literal is the manifestation that demonstrates the meaning. Both are one truth. My 2 cents.
People think the cross is something to revere when it actually is pagan, it represents a false pagan god the babylonians worshipped and God finds disgusting. Jesus died on an upright stake, not a cross. Various figures of crosses are found everywhere on Egyptian monuments and tombs, and are considered by many authorities as symbolical either of the phallus [a representation of the male sex organ] or of coition. . . . In Egyptian tombs the crux ansata [cross with a circle or handle on top] is found side by side with the phallus.”-A Short History of Sex-Worship (London, 1940), H. Cutner, pp. 16, 17; see also The Non-Christian Cross, p. 183.
But we will be kings and priest. A king has a kingdom. And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth. Revelation 5:10
@@CrusaderZealot isn’t it strange that most of Christendom think they are just going to heaven, not knowing why. The whole Bible is about Paradise Lost to Paradise regained . The New Heaven and Earth first spoken of in Isaiah 65:17 was a new form of government in Jerusalem and a new society of people who went to restore true worship. That new government was comprised of a priest and a ‘king’ (governor), Zerubbabel and Joshua… prophetic of the kingly/priestly arrangement spoken of in Revelation 5:10, ruling over a restored paradise earth. This is the ‘Kingdom’ Jesus spoke of. It’s the subject of the ‘good news’ that He is having preached now globally, to let everyone know that soon we shall experience ‘Jehovah’s day’ in sorting this old ‘world’ and starting the earthly restoration and resurrections. The terms ‘sea, earth, Jerusalem, etc’ all have symbolic meaning. We need to show our obedience now, in telling everyone about this wonderful good news (‘gospel’). Even the new ‘temple’ is a spiritual one (Hebrews 5 through 10).
Revelation 22:1-5 Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb John. 7:37-39 On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”[a] By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.
Christians love figurative interpretations because they can support much of their doctrine by “reading between the lines.” You can see what you want this way, but I think G-d knew what he was transmitting to His Prophets, and it was for our edification!
@@michaelshubr4084 no, it was for the edification of the original readers, primarily - and they were a lot more familiar with this genre and would not have taken it literally so we shouldn't, either.
I’ll be happy when most Christians start to think more akin to Heiser, or just well adjusted scholars in general. Hyper literalism kills apologetics and theological interpretation faster than some would like to admit.
Oh my goodness how true! Seems the hyper intellectual Bible teachers just want us to wing it because they don't believe in any of the spiritual gifts. They are stiff and sad even with sound doctrine!
Interesting that there was no mention of marriage, soul mates, the relationship of man and woman, Matthew 22:30 or the Sadduccees story of the widow who married seven brothers. I guess that's a hot-button issue that sours the discussion of the new earth and causes too much controversy. Unfortunately that issue exists, and it causes pain for a lot of people.
There's a lot of Bible verses being quoted here, and everyone can come to their own conclusion about how unimaginable heaven will be. The fact that Jesus forgives you of all of your wicked deeds, and you make it into heaven to live forever, with him and our father,,,,is in itself, the best part of it !! I'm not going to care what it looks like ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Well, I mean, you interpret things by their genre and context. If you're reading apocalyptic literature, you don't take it literally. If you're reading proverbs you take them as general wisdom rather than law. You take historical writing as history. Generally speaking, when God tries to tell us about the future, particularly paradise or the new earth, its too big a concept for us to possibly comprehend. So we get strange concepts, images, and themes to give us comfort and hope rather than specifics we read literally.
Why do people worry so much about things to come in the next life when we have so much to do in THIS life? You should be focused on how to become holy and walk like Jesus and preach the gospel and get souls saved. Don't get caught up in the details of the next world. Worry about that when you get there.
Note: The battle of Armageddon never happens. The enemies of saints encircles them but before the first “shot” is fired the enemies are consumed by fire.
The NT is written to the people of the first century, because the events spoken of in happened to them. In Matthew 24, Jesus told his disciples that the end of the age, the tribulation, and his return would be in their generation (vs 34). The NT isn't written to us, people living two thousand years later, rather it's written FOR us to learn from.
The accurate interpretation is from the Holy Spirit. If we had a perfect version/translation & understanding of it we would still miss the point without the relationship to God who literally tunes our perceptions
I believe that the Bible is literally true. Let me qualify that. I believe that that every event in the Bible occurs exactly as described. Everything in the Bible is not literal though. There is metaphor, there are descriptions made by 1st century or bc agrarians of what they saw. Just as post biblical prophets describe what they see or are told by Mary. It also has to be taken from the point of view of who wrote it and who the expected audience was. Most of the concepts we struggle with were easily understood by the Hebrew readers the instant they read it.
With parallels that Rev 21+ 22 has with Eze 47 and Isa 60 +65, it doesnt seem Rev 20 and Rev 21 are in chronological order. If there are still nations and death, then sheol is still in use. Whats new would be a heaven thats rolled back like a scroll, and a 1500x1500x1500 mile land mass coming out of it and landing over the promise land. There will be no more sea in the promise land because the land was flatten to prepare a flat foundation for the city to rest on. Revelation 21:1-4 ESV [1] Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. [2] And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. [3] And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. [4] He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” Isaiah 65:17-21 ESV [17] “For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth, and the former things shall not be remembered or come into mind. [18] But be glad and rejoice forever in that which I create; for behold, I create Jerusalem to be a joy, and her people to be a gladness. [19] I will rejoice in Jerusalem and be glad in my people; no more shall be heard in it the sound of weeping and the cry of distress. [20] No more shall there be in it an infant who lives but a few days, or an old man who does not fill out his days, for the young man shall die a hundred years old, and the sinner a hundred years old shall be accursed. [21] They shall build houses and inhabit them; they shall plant vineyards and eat their fruit. Revelation 21:23-27 ESV [23] And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and its lamp is the Lamb. [24] By its light will the nations walk, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it, [25] and its gates will never be shut by day-and there will be no night there. [26] They will bring into it the glory and the honor of the nations. [27] But nothing unclean will ever enter it, nor anyone who does what is detestable or false, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s book of life. Isaiah 60:11-12 ESV [11] Your gates shall be open continually; day and night they shall not be shut, that people may bring to you the wealth of the nations, with their kings led in procession. [12] For the nation and kingdom that will not serve you shall perish; those nations shall be utterly laid waste. Isaiah 60:19-20 ESV [19] The sun shall be no more your light by day, nor for brightness shall the moon give you light; but the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory. [20] Your sun shall no more go down, nor your moon withdraw itself; for the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your days of mourning shall be ended. Revelation 22:1-5 ESV [1] Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb [2] through the middle of the street of the city; also, on either side of the river, the tree of life with its twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit each month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. [3] No longer will there be anything accursed, but the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and his servants will worship him. [4] They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. [5] And night will be no more. They will need no light of lamp or sun, for the Lord God will be their light, and they will reign forever and ever. Ezekiel 47:1-2 ESV [1] Then he brought me back to the door of the temple, and behold, water was issuing from below the threshold of the temple toward the east (for the temple faced east). The water was flowing down from below the south end of the threshold of the temple, south of the altar. [2] Then he brought me out by way of the north gate and led me around on the outside to the outer gate that faces toward the east; and behold, the water was trickling out on the south side. Ezekiel 47:12 ESV [12] And on the banks, on both sides of the river, there will grow all kinds of trees for food. Their leaves will not wither, nor their fruit fail, but they will bear fresh fruit every month, because the water for them flows from the sanctuary. Their fruit will be for food, and their leaves for healing.”
I was putting these same passages together as well and it had me confused of what is supposed to be the millennial reign of Christ and what is eternity. How do we put these passages together on the timeline to make it all fit? I thought the temple that Ezekiel measured out would be for the millennial reign. Maybe I'm interpreting wrong??
@@sallymae-x4z I think its possible that the Eze temple measured out is in the New Jerusalem. Yeah there is alot of different interpretations from literal to figurative, and what is the chronogical order of Rev, which cause confusion. I take it more literal were on the Day of the Lord the heavens are rolled back like a scroll, Jesus, his army, and the New Jerusalem descend down from heaven and stop in mid air. The rightoues dead are raised into immortal bodies, and the righteous alive are transformed into the same immortal bodies. Then they are all gathered and brought to the New Jerusalem in the air. Then Jesus and his army have the battle of Armageddon wiping out the army and flattening the area of the promise land. The New Jerusalem descends to the ground and the river flows from the city and refeshes the waterways from the wormwood. The mortals that survived the tribulation and werent given immortal bodies head towards the New Jerusalem and camp around it recieving the leaves for healing. The Bridegroom is coronated to the New Jerusalem and its citizens. A nation is born in a single day. The ones given an immortal bodies are given their inheritance dwelling in the New Jerusalem and become a kingdom of priests. The New Jerusalem become a light to the nations and the priests are set over the nations to help rebuild, and teach the ways of God. The mortal surviviors learn from the priests, live longer, and repopulate the earth.
@@phillipbrand4098 I think I completely agree with you and see it the same way!! I've really been trying to understand and study the millennial reign and I think this is the understanding that I have been given as well. I haven't learned this from any teaching of men because I try not to be led by someone else' interpretation. It's just what the Holy Spirit has shown me in studying. What I would add to what you have said is that there will be people that do not worship Jesus at Mt Zion and do not go up for the feast of Tabernacles, Zech 14. So there is still curse and punishment still in their land. And at the end of the thousand years Satan is released to deceive the nations to go up to the camp of the saints to fight against Jesus in the final battle of Armageddon. And is this where the earth is destroyed by fire and fervent heat that Peter wrote about? And do you agree that the Ezekiel 38 Gog of Magog war is the same as the war at the end of the Tribulation?
I think I’m “on the same page” with a couple of the points in this video. I’ve been trying for more than six decades to interpret the Bible as literally as I can and I still haven’t found a way to do that. I think the language in the book of Revelation was deliberately symbolic in order to mitigate the tendency to be dogmatic. It seems to me that many of my most conservative friends can hardly wait to “rule with Jesus” in the sense of being his henchmen to enforce his laws (or, in this case, to enforce their interpretation of his laws). That’s antithetical to my understanding of Jesus. Because his very nature is love, he can’t use coercion and he can’t approve of his followers using coercion. Maybe I need to expand my circle of friends but I’ve seldom encountered someone who prefers to interpret the Bible prophecies as primarily allegorical and who has been this dogmatic about it. People who prefer Dr. Hesier’s theology probably won’t be much interested in mine but I offer it here because there may be someone reading the comment section who will find it at least interesting. I consider the “rapture” of I Thessalonians 4:17 to be the same event as the second advent of Jesus. In fact, I find it hard to imagine how anyone who reads the context of verses 13-18 (footnote 1) can think otherwise, especially when comparing that passage with John 14:2 & 3 (footnote 2). Based primarily on these passages, the purpose of the second advent of Jesus seems to be to resurrect the people who have died in faith and take living believers with them to the mansions he has gone to prepare. In this case, reigning with Jesus (Revelation 20) doesn’t mean being God’s henchmen to enforce his laws so I propose that, during the millennial reign, believers will reign with Jesus in a judicial capacity rather than in an executive capacity. After the thousand years, the holy city, new Jerusalem, will descend from heaven (presumably with believers in it), the finally impenitent will be resurrected and admit that God is just (every knee shall bow) but, inspired by Satan, will attack the city anyway. That’s when fire will come down from God out of heaven and devour them. (Revelation 20 verse 9) Compare Malachi 4:1 & 3. After the smoke clears, this planet will be recreated (the new Earth). Heaven is the place from which God rules the universe. If he is to make this planet his headquarters after the millennium, it will be heaven in that sense. Not all prophecies are unconditional. The prophecy of Jonah is the best known example but please compare Jeremiah 18:10 and Deuteronomy 28, especially verses one and fifteen. (My five key doesn’t work.) I don’t start with the premise that most or all Bible prophecy is yet to be fulfilled. Nor do I subscribe to the premise that we should understand the prophecies in the book of Revelation as occurring in the order in which they are listed, i.e. chronologically.
(1) I Thessalonians 4 13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words. (2) John 14 2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

I liked the point about the sea representing earthly chaos and the world of men. The Earthly realm is oppressed and darkened today because of the forces of wickedness in high places. Those evil spirits, expelled from Heaven, are currently inhabiting the etherial realm and will be cast down to Earth, then dealt with in the judgement. This means that the etherial realm will also be cleansed from all evil.
The Heavens were cleansed when Christ began ruling as King in 1914. That's when Satan and his demons were cast to the earth and instigated the first world war. Revelation 12:7-10 was fulfilled at that time.
@@djparsons7363 That is clearly untrue. The ethereal realm is still an active war zone, and the results of those conflicts are evident all around us in the spiritual realities of popular culture. As for Christ ruling as king from 1914. Really? Here on Earth? Surely Christ has to physically return to Earth in order to rule as king here. Is this perhaps what Jehova's witnesses believe? It's certainly not the doctrine of any Christian church that I'm aware of. Christ came to this Earth as king. He proclaimed His kingdom, and was crucified as king. He has reigned in the hearts of believers as our king, before and after 1914. DMT and other drugs can be used as gateways to the ethereal realm, where all manner of unGodly spiritual entities dwell, influencing and corrupting humanity from their supernatural vantage point. Their time is short, and they will soon be cast out from there too, but were they already cast down to Earth as you claim, they would have no supernatural influence at all, no way to convince their victims of their divine nature, and nowhere to hide from us. They would all have to have physical embodiment here on Earth, and that is clearly, just not the case.
I was under the impression that we were saved thru belief and not works but I realize from his reading it emphasis being judged by what had been done so what's the verdict faith or works ?
@@djparsons7363I respectfully disagree. The earthly kingdom is for those OT saints and those that persevere through 7 yr Tribulation. The “rest” of us saved by our Faith in Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection will be in the heavenly places.
@@Gebomartin215 That is incorrect. It's true that everyone who died before Jesus death will be resurrected on earth during the millennium. Billions of others who have died will also be resurrected on earth. The only Christians that receive a "sealing" are the 144,000. That sealing is a token of the inheritance they receive, to be in Heaven ruling with Jesus. Notice the Great Multitude is NOT sealed since they will not be in Heaven but on earth. The only humans who will ever be in Heaven are the 144,000, everyone else will live on earth if proven faithful. Also, the Bible does not give a length of time for the tribulation, nowhere does it say it will last 7 years.
I would rather stand before God and be wrong because I took His Word literally, than to stand before God and be wrong because I thought my intellect deemed God a liar. The LORD rebuke you.
@@johncalvinhall you cannot be serious. The Bible is FULL of proven metaphorical imagery. Take Daniel's visions: Did a literal goat rule the world? How about a monster with 10 horns? This is ridiculous. Do you watch Godzilla or Pacific Rim and think, "hmm, this is what end times will be like"? Jesus himself used parables and metaphors to teach. I can't tell if you're trolling or just severely ignorant of how common this is in the Bible.
@@KlintonSilvey Yes, it is, but how do YOU determine what is literal and what is metaphorical? Do you really believe that man's (fallen/sinful) intellect really has the ability to determine such differences? Personally, I use Scripture to reveal these differences. When I see comparatives ("like" or "as"), I know these verses are metaphoric. Also, the Bible will itself identify metaphors when explanations are included (i.e. the angel revealing the harlot sitting on a beast with seven heads in Rev. 17). In the end, I let God's Word define God's Word, and have little to no regard for man's intellect to redefine Scripture.
He will wipe away every tear seems to imply a mind wipe, as it were, erasing traumatic memories that have made existence unbearable for some. What do you think?
God doesn't have to do that. During judgment, when everyone's life and inner most thoughts are laid bare for all to see, there should be no reason to question why this person is with God or that person is in the lake of fire.
The fulfillment of God’s promise that “neither will . . . pain be anymore” (Re 21:4), therefore, could not mean that humans would become insensitive to or incapable of experiencing pain. Rather, mental, emotional, and physical pain that has resulted from sin and imperfection (Ro 8:21, 22) will ‘be no more’ in the sense that its causes (such as disease and death) will be removed.
Jeremiah 31:12 Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, and shall flow together to the goodness of the LORD, for wheat, and for wine, and for oil, and for the young of the flock and of the herd: and their soul shall be as a watered garden; and they shall not sorrow any more at all.

Scripture says it’s spiritual not physical. If it was physical and people were resurrected to flesh and blood bodies then they would eventually die again because flesh and blood decay it’s a fact. Scripture says the corruptible must put on incorruptible and the mortal must put on immortality.
@@waywardsoul4918 if that’s the case then everyone would have to die again since flesh and blood life has to die it’s fact, physical life decays and dies. When those in Christ die we become a spiritual being like God & Christ just as scripture says.

You're the "image of God". Put the whole Bible in psychology terms, and it unlocks itself to you. God IS within you. Heaven, Jesus. Literally all of it. The Bible story is true for you on an INDIVIDUAL level. That's what makes it so true.
That's the problem with the Bible. You either take it literally or accepts all the thousand different interpretations of it. Better not take it at all.
A better conclusion is to study to show yourself approved. 2 Tim 2:15. Learn a hermeneutic so you know how to interpret a text according to the original author.
Sometimes listening to people who teach false doctrine is a bad idea. Gathering knowledge from listening to commentary that is not from the Bible is false doctrine if you are not absolutely sure of what you're hearing. Studying the Bible means memorizing and knowing how to rightly divide within context. Cultural meanings are to be learned by heavy study in books that can be traced back to academic instead of denominational. Bias occurs when someone's doctrinal beliefs are slanted to denominational beliefs. 98% of all denominations are steeped in Luther/Calvinism. Catholicism is 1% and true Bible only believers are the other 1%. Catholicism and Reformed theology have destroyed the original intent of the authors of the Holy Bible. The Great Falling Away which is referred to in the New Testament has made false doctrine of most churches' doctrines today.
I dont think so. When you pick out the different verses. It does seem like Jesus will destroy this earth and heaven, and create a new one. Different Physics, perhaps no longer the law of decay (end law etc). Here we are to be a new creation to be placed into a New Heacen and Earth. ie. Creation in reverse.
He doesn't know what he's talking about. The new heavens and new earth are not some physical re-creation or restored earth: they are simply figures for our domain in Christ.
Rev 1:1 "These things that must soon take place" Rev Ch 22 "Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this book" WHY? "For the time is at hand" Whoever penned the book of Revelation in the early 2nd century ce. claims that Jesus is wanting to communicate to 7 churches that are acting one way or the other certain things that are going to happen SOON. If the message was intended for people living 2000 years later that is a very cruel joke on the original audience of the text. You should not transport Revelation into the future when it clearly was not written to you. Bigger picture. Its not real. None of it is real. The earth is not 6000 years old. You guys are so much smarter than this. Un-chain yourselves from your self inflicted dogmas and man made religions. Be kind, loving, generous, compassionate, while you live. We are spiritual beings maturing in a physical existence. We all go back to the same source. No judgement, no eternal torment. Just love. Best regards.
Stop serving Jesus; he does not want your service: First and foremost, we cannot serve Jesus. Jesus wants us to listen and serve God ONLY (Matthew 4:10). Jesus came serving God the Father, and he will reject anyone who serves him and not the Father. Jesus said, “for whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but *_I am among you as he that serveth”_* (Luke 22:27). Those who believe they are serving Jesus as God are forfeiting their own salvation. What a shame. Serving Jesus has nothing to do with the kingdom of God; we are to listen, receive, and abide in his words-to do what he has told us to do, which is *_to worship and serve the Father who seeks our worship_* (John 4:23-24). This is the meaning of salvation. Jesus came down to do the Father’s will, and to finish His work, and he has done just that (John 4:24). We must do the same in order to become one with them. All who oppose what Jesus said and did love death (Proverbs 8:36).
Assuming you've done a search on all the passages which assign deity to Jesus, what do you do with them? It's easy to explain away one ambiguous passage, but not so easy when confronted with numerous passages.
@@mchristr Jesus will take vengeance on all who do not know the only true God, the Father (2 Thessalonians 1:7-9): Many people _think_ God Himself came down from heaven and died for our sins…even though it is *_impossible_* for God to die in _any_ capacity. God is the resurrector of all-many believe Jesus is God, but refuse to believe that God shares His spirit, power, glory, mind, and words with Jesus for they are one in spirit and truth, not being (John 10:30). They call Jesus a liar, for Jesus always said my Father is in heaven. It is man who say Jesus is “fully man” and “fully God”-*_LIARS!*_ They refuse the Father’s sayings after He told us “there is no god with me” (Isaiah 42:8, 48:11). They refuse the fact that God will give nothing to another, but will only share with all those who love and obey him (Romans 8:17). We must know them both personally and individually (John 17:3).
He made that as clear as mud. Obviously, he does not correctly understand Revelation, and what the New Heavens and New Earth represent. The application of this prophecy is on earth during the 1,000 year rule of the Kingdom. The Cyclopædia of Biblical, Theological, and Ecclesiastical Literature, by M’Clintock and Strong, states: “Wherever the scene of a prophetic vision is laid, HEAVEN SIGNIFIES THE RULING POWERS BEING OVER AND RULING THE SUBJECTS, AS THE NATURAL HEAVENS ARE OVER THE EARTH." AS TO THE PHRASE "HEAVEN AND EARTH", THE HEAVEN IS THE SOVEREIGNTY, THE EARTH REFERS TO A SOCIETY OF SUBJECTS BEING RULED. During the millennium, the New Heavens refer to a righteous Government, God's Kingdom, ruling over the New Earth, a society of righteous people. The prophecy also says the "SEA" will be no more. Isaiah makes clear what that refers to: (Isaiah 57:20) “But THE WICKED ARE LIKE THE RESTLESS SEA that cannot calm down, And its waters keep tossing up seaweed and mire. The "Sea" refers to wicked people who will not be present during the 1,000 years, they will not be allowed to disrupt the peace during that time. (Psalm 37:10, 11) Just a little while longer, and the wicked will be no more; You will look at where they were, And they will not be there. But the meek will possess the earth, And they will find exquisite delight in the abundance of peace. (Psalm 37:29) The righteous will possess the earth, And they will live forever on it.
Greetings, Christ said he would return in the lifetime of the audience to whom he preached and that all written prophecy would be fulfilled in their lifetime, his words, his testimony. your friend
Greetings, when he would return: Matt 16:28 Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom. To fulfill all written prophecy: Luke 21:22 For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. John the Baptist told the apostate priesthood the wrath was coming upon them. Matt 3:7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Christ said the same thing. Matt 23:36 Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation. Christ told his apostles they would not finish going through the cities of Israel and he would be back. Matt 10:23 But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come. He told them that the temple would be destroyed. They knew this meant their covenant/law would end, no temple, no administration of the law. Their very next question after he told them the temple would be torn to the ground is: "when are you coming?" When Christ was being crucified, he told the women don't weep for me, but for yourself and your children. Luke 23:28 But Jesus turning unto them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children. Why? What was the request of the priesthood/people at the trial of Christ in front of Pilate? Matt 27:24 When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it.25 Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children. Christ was sent the second time to fulfill the law. He was sent specifically to the lost sheep of Israel, who were living under a covenant/ law, the age of the law. He sent his apostles specifically to the Israelites and they preached "the kingdom of heaven is at hand". Well, was it? Was it coming in their lifetime? Yes, it did, this is what they preached. your friend
@@markmoore3530 That isn't the meaning of what he said. He said The end would come after the "appointed times of the nations" was fulfilled and that would be in the "last days", way in the future. In my 50 years of biblical study I've never known any other theologian who can convey the sweeping truth of the Scriptures better or simpler than Dr. Heiser.

Always love to hear Dr. Heiser teach.
Oh how I miss Michael Heiser. We love you, Mike. We will all be joined together someday!!!
We
simply go to the grave awaiting the resurrection.
@@JW-rn5ee, see, the Bible says Heaven IS a place of reward:
"Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you." (Matthew 5:12)
"Rejoice in that day, and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven Luke" 6:23)
"To the one who conquers I will grant to eat of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God." (Revelation 2:7)
Those who have died in Christ do NOT sleep in graves - their SOULS go immediately into the presences of the Lord, while their BODIES await resurrection and glorification that will unite with their souls:
"He is not God of the dead, but of the living. You are quite wrong.” (Mark 12:27)
"Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:8)
(Souls in Heaven are NOT sleeping in graves! "When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the witness they had borne. 10 They cried out with a loud voice, “O Sovereign Lord, holy and true, how long before you will judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?” (Revelation 6:9)
Moses and Elijah, speaking to Jesus at the Mount of Transfiguration, were NOT asleep in graves!
Can’t wait to see him in the resurrection
I sure wish he would realize that lake of fire is not literal, but rather a picture of a refiners crucible!

Consider the point made by theologian Randy Alcorn (paraphrased):
What if the scriptural descriptions of the New Heavens and the New Earth are not exclusively symbolic or literal, but literal with profound symbolic meaning?
What's the full interview called?
The place my mind goes isn't hierarchical, it's geographical: what do I get to be in charge of?
The word Heaven means to heave upwards like the piece of offering at the sacrificial Altar that was reserved for the High priest called a heave offering.
So good! So grateful
So beautiful ❤

Great point & insight!!!
I miss you Dr. Heiser, even though when I first found you on youtube you had already passed.
Revelation 22:1-5
Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb
John.

I'm not going to care what it looks like ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
He is the best….

Revelation 21:1-4 ESV
[1] Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. [4] He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”
Isaiah 65:17-21 ESV
[17] “For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth, and the former things shall not be remembered or come into mind.
Revelation 21:23-27 ESV
[23] And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and its lamp is the Lamb.
Isaiah 60:11-12 ESV
[11] Your gates shall be open continually; day and night they shall not be shut, that people may bring to you the wealth of the nations, with their kings led in procession. [12] For the nation and kingdom that will not serve you shall perish; those nations shall be utterly laid waste.
Isaiah 60:19-20 ESV
[19] The sun shall be no more your light by day, nor for brightness shall the moon give you light; but the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory. [20] Your sun shall no more go down, nor your moon withdraw itself; for the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your days of mourning shall be ended.
Revelation 22:1-5 ESV
[1] Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb [2] through the middle of the street of the city; also, on either side of the river, the tree of life with its twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit each month.
Ezekiel 47:1-2 ESV
[1] Then he brought me back to the door of the temple, and behold, water was issuing from below the threshold of the temple toward the east (for the temple faced east). The water was flowing down from below the south end of the threshold of the temple, south of the altar. [2] Then he brought me out by way of the north gate and led me around on the outside to the outer gate that faces toward the east; and behold, the water was trickling out on the south side.
Ezekiel 47:12 ESV
[12] And on the banks, on both sides of the river, there will grow all kinds of trees for food.
Most people I talk to about the millennial reign of Christ don't seem to understand it.
@@sallymae-x4z Please read my post above that explains this subject.

I think its possible that the Eze temple measured out is in the New Jerusalem.
(My five key doesn’t work.)
I don’t start with the premise that most or all Bible prophecy is yet to be fulfilled. Nor do I subscribe to the premise that we should understand the prophecies in the book of Revelation as occurring in the order in which they are listed, i.e. chronologically.
(1) I Thessalonians 4
13
But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
14
For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
15
For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
16
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17
Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
18
Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
(2) John 14

There are two judgements. We are saved by grace (through faith) but our reward is determined by our works.

@@KlintonSilvey If God's Word said it, then yes, if that is what the Bible means as leviathan or behemoth. And are YOU willing to call God a liar?
@@johncalvinhall you cannot be serious. The Bible is FULL of proven metaphorical imagery. Take Daniel's visions: Did a literal goat rule the world? How about a monster with 10 horns? This is ridiculous. Do you watch Godzilla or Pacific Rim and think, "hmm, this is what end times will be like"? Jesus himself used parables and metaphors to teach.

It could be. Or it could be that people we thought were going to be there are not.

You're the "image of God". Put the whole Bible in psychology terms, and it unlocks itself to you. God IS within you. Heaven, Jesus. Literally all of it. The Bible story is true for you on an INDIVIDUAL level. That's what makes it so true.
Can't wait to thank him for his mission to regular people like me.

Stop serving Jesus; he does not want your service:
First and foremost, we cannot serve Jesus.
The bible speaks about people like you. lmao@u 🤣
Assuming you've done a search on all the passages which assign deity to Jesus, what do you do with them? It's easy to explain away one ambiguous passage, but not so easy when confronted with numerous passages.
@@mchristr Jesus will take vengeance on all who do not know the only true God, the Father (2 Thessalonians 1:7-9):
Many people _think_ God Himself came down from heaven and died for our sins…even though it is *_impossible_* for God to die in _any_ capacity.
Isaiah makes clear what that refers to:
(Isaiah 57:20) “But THE WICKED ARE LIKE THE RESTLESS SEA that cannot calm down, And its waters keep tossing up seaweed and mire.

To fulfill all written prophecy: Luke 21:22 For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.
