Dirac Windows Volume Calibration Bug With USB Extension Or Long Cable

I recently found and fixed a bug where I was getting incorrect and inconsistent volume calibration levels out of the blue. After testing multiple versions and options I narrowed it down to the cable I was using, even though it had worked for years in the past. A recent Microsoft driver update may be part of the cause as well. I have no OS or hardware errors, just faulty readings inside Dirac itself.

I use a 10 meter USB 3.0 extension cable with my UMIK-2, but it has the option of adding external power, which I think helps avoid this issue. I think anyone needs a higher-quality cable with power for extended lengths, much like how one needs to go fiberoptic with HDMI cables once you start utlizing cables beyond a certain length. Just my 2 cents based on my limited experience as well as others' experiences that have been shared online, if it helps.

@texxhexxmm Sorry, I don't have a UMIK-1 to do a comparison. I did look up the specs and I read extensively on forums to become familiar with the 2's initial issues that were apparently resolved with firmware upgrades.

@texxhexxmm I am not sure what the issue is. Sometimes I have had to troubleshooting by checking in outside and outputs on my PC, or reseting. But with or without troubleshooting, the -2 with latest firmware has been working for me with DIRAC and with REW.

Different versions and systems show it different ways. On windows yes, it’s simply the neutral position.
