When I go in to fix/standardize a location, I like to place a comment saying "standardizing location" , that way if anyone else who is following or who comes along, knows why I made a "change" for that person. If there is already a comment listed for that event about why the information is correct, I will place my comment after theirs. That way all comments are still available for those who come along later.
Thank you! I found those enumeration maps at one point and could never find them again as I couldn't remember what they were called. I'm getting to the point where most videos don't give me any new info, so I truly appreciate those last 2 tips.
Oh wow! I rarely use FS because I find so many errors and I do all my work on my Ancestry tree. But this "birth country" feature you pointed out for the fan chart is awesome! Thanks!
Wonderful! I encourage you to look for records and clues on FS if you're not finding what you need on Ancestry. There are a lot of vital records there on FS.
If you want to correct the standardised birth/death place all you have to do is delete the last letter, of the place name, retype it and click in the grey area below. The place then becomes standardised. The same can be done for dates. This is what I do every time this occurs. Thanks for all your videos. Stay safe.
I love this video & can't wait to check out the enumeration district info. Did you notice the Attach to family tree button on the upper right corner? Have you tried it?
Very cool! I always learn something new from your videos! Today, it was your easy way of finding unindexed images. Thanks for that! Just a quick note to say that Ancestry has the 1940 enumeration maps indexed, so you can search by location.
Hello I been researching my Fiancee s Ancestors.A Large Family I must add.But I m trying to get information on Land that my fiancee is inquiring about.
This hit close to home, literally! I'm from one county away in Kansas, & 2x great-grandparents came from Randolph County, NC. Doesn't look like we're related, but it's unexpected fun. Good vid, as always! May help me answer a question about an ancestor on the other side of my family.
From what I've learned doing a ton of research on this family, there seemed to be a large group of people that migrated right at the end of the Civil War ultimately to Kansas by way of Indiana.
There is another feature on Family Search for you to check out. It may or may not work, although it isn't always accurate so be careful. Anyway, Search your ancestors name and then look to see if there is any family tree info. Make sure it's sourced properly before using it. You can send a message to the content creator and ask them for info. Hope this helps!
Good morning Connie! Do you have a video on how to save research on Family Search? I am new to that site, and when adding a new person (no one else has them in their tree) I just write my evidence titles from Ancestry. I don’t know how to “Attach” the real record. Thank you for your assistance in this.
Yes I do! Here is an episode on getting started with FamilySearch. The video was created in 2019, so a few things might be slightly different. See if this helps ua-cam.com/video/lqm4OjsKh9M/v-deo.html
I have two good episodes on Research Notes where I demonstrate them. One is How to Create Great Research Notes ua-cam.com/video/cy1pXCTYxS8/v-deo.html and the other is called Research Notes Template ua-cam.com/video/JSx8s8Ku2Qc/v-deo.html
Hello! I don't know if you will answer, but your videos helped me just hours ago find documents on my dad's side of the family specifically my grandpa. But we are also looking to find a picture probably. Do you have tips on how to find photographs of people in Mexico especially in the 1900s?
Jackie, I don't know that I have the exact answer for you. Here is a video I did about 10 Places to Find Your Ancestors in Photographs. It might help. ua-cam.com/video/Or8LT0uuQ98/v-deo.html
Do you have to have a subscription to search everything. Every time I try to click on a leaf or story or anything it takes me to buy a subscription. So frustrating!!
Here are a couple videos that talk about free options for researching. 30 Free Genealogy Websites Updated ua-cam.com/video/q7LBSIB8cWE/v-deo.html and Trace Your Family Tree for Free Online: 5 Step Process (2020) ua-cam.com/video/V3t2xwY7zVE/v-deo.html
I'm new to doing my family ancestry. I feel like I fell down a huge rabbit hole bc I'm addicted to doing this . This video is helpful. .
Welcome to the club (being addicted). You've been bitten by the genealogy bug.
@@GenealogyTV my mom is 90 years old and she loves when I find her (mine too) ancestors . She use to do this and has given it over to me .. so fun.
Thanks for this excellent video! I've been using FamilySearch for over a decade & didn't know about these techniques!

Good idea. Thanks for sharing... and supporting the channel.
Great video, Connie! Loved the hint you mentioned for Randolph Co., NC, since we both have relatives there.
Awesome! Thank you!
Great tips! Great to know about the section that tells you on the fan chart someone needs attention.
Glad it was helpful!

Excellent! I hear you. I take classes sometimes just to find that one or two things new that I didn't know. Thanks for watching.

Omg! I have been trying to find a way to figure out how to find unindexed records, and you led me right to it! Thank you so much!
You're so welcome!
One of your absolute best videos! Thanks!
Thank you Linda
WOW!! Thank you! I was a bit (a lot!) overwhelmed by all of the Wiki info. You've just made it less intimidating!
Glad it was helpful!

I hope I can use these. I have a paternal Great Gmother and Maternal Great Gfather that I cannot find their parents. It is so frustrating.
Keep trying. I bet you find it someday soon.

FYI - I don't think these tools are available any longer unless you purchase the new "Pro Tools" package (referring to the fan).
There is so much data in the US. I wish we had half of this for Brazil.

New to your channel, thanks so much for your help! I'm not seeing the birth countries, sources, stories, menu. Does that still exist?
Yes it does! They moved it to the right side. The little icon that looks like sliders, to the left of the home icon... in the tree view.
Great tips, thanks
You bet!

There is no fee for anything on Family Search. It is helpful to create an account but that is free and useful to keeping your history.

Your #1 hint has been discontinued. FS only contacts you, now, for upcoming calendar interests or gravestones found on Find a Grave.
You know... I tried to verify that before the video. I'm still getting weekly email notifications. Thanks Kathy.
@@GenealogyTV they quit sending them to me.
THey still have that fan in '22?
Yes... I love it.
How do you add a middle name?
Just type it after the first name in the First Names field. They don't provide a separate field for middle names.
5:51 the blur that was on the video didn’t show up so you could see the person’s birth btw.
I did not see a need to blur that one. He has long since passed away.
I DIDN'T KNOW THAT.
I HAVE THAT NAME, TOO
