Phillips Crab House Ocean City MD To Be Converted Into Apartments

The world famous Phillips Crab house on 21st Street and Philadelphia Ave in Ocean City Maryland is being converted into apartments. The iconic restaurant closed its doors for good after almost 66 years at the end of the 2021 season. Union Chesapeake Seafood House opened in 2022 but closed after just one season. Phillips was an Ocean City MD icon and landmark that many people and families looked forward to visiting while on vacation there. This is a video I took while I was in town on 10/5/24. The downfall of Phillips happened when their son took over, starting back in the early 2000's. As a former local and long time customer, I knew a lot of staff. They were VERY clear that the problems started when the son took over running the business. Unfortunately, Phillips restaurants are solely limited to Baltimore, various airports (small stands) and foreign countries. Their frozen products found in grocery stores are of poor quality, and contain mostly imported ingredients. It's a shame. Such a tragic loss of an amazing hisotic seafood restaurant.
