Everyone seems to forget that flapping the bird actually makes the bird travel faster as well as go higher. Its the most vital mechanic for bird flight but most people i’ve watched play this game seem to completely ignore it lol The struggle is funny to see every time
There's a really easy piece of heart you can get on an island where they sell soup. I think you should go there (there's something/someone there you will like)
Hard to do spin moves? Shake both joycons sideways at the same time and you’ll do a spin attack. Hope that helps😁 (that’s at least what you had to do with the wii remote)
Quin, quick tip for you while flying and using motion controls: shake/flick the right joycon downwards and you gain hight Also if you press A while flying using button controls you also gain hight
Motion controlls are sick back on the wii there was a game wii sport resort and there was a sword fighting minigame where instead of playing how it was intended i just waved the wii remote around like a mad man
The struggle with the bird controls was literally me when I was doing the race at the start of the game. It's a good thing everyone else was incompetent because I was just flying in the cloud barrier for like 20 minutes trying to figure it out. You literally just swing the controller up and he goes up though
I love this game so much and watching Quin suffer through it is pure gold. A couple notes for Quin: You were supposed to roll the bomb across the bridge. Shaking the right joycon while flying makes the bird fly up.
For the sake of item upgrading, you can get a lot of pieces by killing bats, slimes, and bokoblins. Other than that, you can find the ore in digging, and catch birds with the net for feathers. Blue birds are rare ones!
When you hear the ringing noise, Fi has something to tell you. Her advice is pretty useful. Pretty sure she would have told you that you can roll the bombs. You can also store the bomb flower bombs in your bomb bag (if you have one). Plus get lots of collectable items, they're useful for upgrading your items later in the game, like the beetle. It'll get an upgrade that lets it pick up bomb flowers.

Its kinda funny, in the oroginal Fi told you everything about the controlls. People complained that Fi was too handholdy but it turns out people really can't figure stuff out for themselfes.

I’m 25 and my 6 year old sibling is enjoying this game a lot. Keep on keepin on keepin with the game (and motion controls) buddy, can’t wait for the next episode!!
Saying you need to use the motion controls is like a kid who was bullied when he was younger turning into a bully later on because it happened to him and therefor it needs to happen to you too.
Okay, simple tutorial time, Shake while flying to make your bird flap and gain altitude. Shake the left and right joy-cons to spin attack. Finally shake your left joy-con to shield bash which will stagger enemies like in Breath of the Wild. Edit: For button controls: Bird flap: A Shield bash/parry: Left stick click
It's a shame that you missed the combat tutorial with the joycons but I would probably go to the knight academy sparring ground to get a combat refresh with motion controls. Spin attacks require both joycons and increasing elevation on the bird requires flapping the right joycon. It's all in the wrist though, you don't need to move the controller physically above your body with full arm motion, just make sure the controller orientation is correct and reset gyro when you need it. Motion controls feel super satisfying. I find it a million times more engaging and intuitive than just pressing a button or wiggling a stick.
Quin is me when I fly the loftwing back to skyloft after the first temple and completely forgetting that I was supposed to shake the right joycons lol. But surprisingly I'm enjoying the motion controls. Hope you'll like it too the more you play as you get used to the motion controls. Just super quick reset with Y everytime the sensor feels off. Great vid as always Quin!
It took me a bit too long to learn how to fly the bird with the joy cons. Love the videos! A good thing to do would be to constantly hit “y” to reset the gyro
A few tips with the motion controls, to swing you don't actually have to like swing your arm you can just flick the joycon. The motion controls aren't based on the movement of the joycon itself but more the angle you're holding it at. Wanna go down with the bird, point the joycon down. Back up? point it up or flick down to flap the wings. For the shield you just shake the left joycon (i think, you shook the nunchuck for shield in the original). Spin attack is flick both joycons, and you can do a vertical spin attack but flicking them up/down as well
I'm loving this series! Also to fly the loftwing you need to move the joy cons up and down to flap the Loftwing's wings. It's how you gain altitude. You can also freely switch between motion and button controls in the game options with the joycons if some parts are easier for you with button controls. That's what I've been doing in my playthrough.
I have extreme anxiety and adhd and I don’t think I could ever do this as amazing as you do, love you Quin you’re a full inspiration ❤️ been watching every video, you’re hilarious. Love ya mate ☺️
I would like to let you know, there a quite a few people is the skyward sword community who will go onto peoples streams and UA-cam videos and say “you HAVE to use motion controls because it’s how the game was *meant* to be played” motion controls are just as easy/difficult as joycons and the game is just as enjoyable either way and you should play the game the way you want to play it.
I also had the same experience with the bird when I first played cuz I missed the note about shaking the joycon, but I just kept going with it and still somehow did the race at the start like that lmao. finding out I could just shake was the biggest ffs I've ever felt
I literally wake up everyday for these Zelda videos 😂😂 being a long time zelda fan since I was a kid it’s so cool seeing a perspective of someone playing for the first time and loving the series!!
There are little Robot Boys later on which you will find adorable. I have a game suggestion for you: Miitopia where you can use your or someone else’s Mii to go on an adventure. (My Miitopia Code is 2HVL4JG, My Mii is called Gamespergr, his job is Thief, his personality is Laid-back and if you use him please remove his headgear because he looks a bit weird with headgear unless he has the Vampire job which he has on My Nintendo switch). Oh and I forgot to mention that in Miitopia you get a Horse.
You gotta flick the right joycon upwards to fly higher on the bird Also flicking both joycons in the same direction is the spin attack Flicking only the left joycon is the shield ifyou have one Flicking the left joycon while running is how you roll Finally you can roll items across the floor by holding the right joycon down and flicking up while holding something (that's how you were supposed to do the lava bridge with the bombs) Dont forget that the reset gyro button (Y button) is your friend And that concludes your motion control lessons up to this point in the game that you missed
Recommend you go over the controls. You can relearn sword controls at the academy in skyloft. The key to flying is that to flap your wings you have to 'flap' the controller. Remember if you're stuck at any point, hit the help button for info on the controls.
Shaking the right controller when using motion controls while on your loftwing makes it flap so it goes up, it can also be used to get unstuck from your loftwing when it’s in the stop position.
I can see the rage in the joy con moving lol, big stinky ya got this! You, you just roll the bombs my guy... you didn't have to go through any of that trouble on the bone bridge...
Quin, the motion controls are fun but the tutorial for them sorta passed since it is taught in the beginning. If you press the right arrow on the left joycon, it only gives you info on the button controls. I played the game with mostly motion control, but certain parts with flying the bird and walking on a tightrope are better in button mode.
Heres some tips for motion controls: When flying the bird, shake the right joycon down to gain altitude. To recentre the motion controls if they get a bit janky, press Y. To spin attack, shake both joycons to the left at the same time. To do the other kind of spin attack, shake both joycons down. You can roll bombs on the ground by aiming your right joycon to the ground and shake it upward. Check the controls if anything else is confusing :)
Ive played this game for over 7 years now and only now (thanks to the improved dialogue boxes) have i gotten the joke that all the mogmas are named after rocks
To do a spin attack with joycons (assuming it's the same as the old wiimote+nunchuck layout), you swing both cons either inward or outward (horizontal spin), or 1up+1down (vertical spin).
To do a spin attack, you need to move the joycons in the direction of the way you want to spin attack. Like, swing them both in unison. Also, while holding a bomb, if you point down with the joycon, it'll let you roll it and you can also angle your roll by tilting the joycon in the direction you want it to roll (I'm doing some guessing work here cuz I've only played the Wii version, but hey! What's the worst that could happen?) And also also, shield bashing is your friend in this game, ESPECIALLY when you were fighting Ghirahim. And yes, I'm a little late, I apologize. Just thought I should tell ya. Thanks for the videos! I really appreciate it.
The biggest aid in flying your Loftwing and your best friend while traversing the skies will be swinging the right JoyCon downward just to flap its wings and gain some altitude.
Yo pro tip about skyward sword, all places where it gives you the prompt to sit(like benches or chair and so on) will heal you to full hp if you sit on them long enough
Quin, if you must persist in using the drifting candy bar controllers, I would reccomend attempting the 1mm-thick insertion repair trick that was discovered a couple weeks back. I just did it for mine yestersay, it was relatively easy and there is no problems so far. But for real, motion controls are iffy at best.
You have to shake the motion controller to fly with the bird, same thing for parrying with the shield. Furthermore, to do the spin attack you have to swing both the controllers in the same direction
Something important to do with Joycons: Hit the Y button with the controllers flat to reset the gyros. This will prevent your bird from diving, and you can do it at any time you have problems.
For shields go to the skyloft bazaar and get the metal shields(weak to electric) and wooden(weak to fire), after clearing area you can get a good shield

You have to shake the motion controller to fly with the bird, same thing for parrying with the shield. Furthermore, to do the spin attack you have to swing both the controllers in the same direction
Hey Quin, did you notice the flying building with a giant bell in Skyloft? Try hitting that bell with the slingshot, you won't regret it ;)
"Finally the real enemy... The birds"
watching him struggle to fly the bird not realizing you have to use the motion controls to flap the WINGS
