In the Amanda's mother scene, they are both brazilian actresses, they're speaking in portuguese hahaha about the scene: At first her mother starts to pray thinking she's a ghost and then after Amanda realized she's actually dead she tries to calm her mother down saying she's in a good place now and asks if she's taking her medicine, that's basically it : )

Obrigada! I figured as much. I had to use my little knowledge of Romance languages to understand that dialogue. The acting in that scene was fantastic! That made it less challenging for me to grasp what was being said.
I was surprised how emotional this episode was. Especially seeing Daniela sick. Jennifer Connolly killed it, everybody killed it. Then the scene with Amandas mother got me, and the whole Blair situation just broke my heart.
I agree it was def an emotional ride. Loved this episode for it
The problem with Jason and Amanda is she doesn't want him to go home, she may even like him better they Evil J. The Evil J, is getting rid of the side kick and for good reason. It reads both their thoughts and Prof Jason doesn't realize this, yet.
As a Brazilian, I find it so funny to see Alice Braga speaking Portuguese! What a lovely touch!

This box that Jason made is like the rabbit hole in other time travel stories.
In my opinion, the biggest tragedy is that Jason1 can never truly get back to his original family. At least he'll never be able to confirm if it's the exact instance of his family that he was taken from.
eg: If universes are generally created by a difference in choices. What would be the difference between Jason1 returning to a world where Jason2 bought his son a Blue car for his birthday instead of a Red one. Technically those would be 2 entirely different universes.
How could one truly trust that this is the family he left, or does differences like that even matter to someone. (It would matter to me, because I believe a specific instance or iteration of a person is what makes up the unique value of a life)

I noticed immediately in the final world the movie marquee off in the distance said "The Fugitive 2" and then you find out Jason in that world is supposed to be in jail - hence he really is a fugitive.

To answer your question about how Jason2 can "seal" the door to Jason1's world--so Jason1 and Amanda can't find him: wasn't there a sealed/blocked door when Jason & Amanda first started sampling doors? I believe it was the second or third door and it looked like concrete or steel preventing going through the door.

There was a remark about the limited number of possible universes to be able to visit. Those universes are coming to existence by ones decision making and cover all the different options of a decision . So you can only go to universes where you exist.
Did you guys noticed that the sound where there is a transition between Jason’s wasn’t always made?
GREAT recap! I hate to be a picky, hard-scifi'er, but...The box moving to the bottom of the water should change the location of all of the boxes in superposition from there. The hallway is a superposition extension of the current box, so any boxes they travel to from there will be in a different position than the original box. That shouldn't mean the original Jason can't get back to his original world, but he won't be able to access the box he was kidnapped into. Either the boxes are all in the same places, or they're not. If the box moves, then the hallway should only access worlds that branch off because of the movement of that box.
I like the show, but get nervous about books and shows that are fuzzy in their world-building rules. Accessing GPS from inside the box is still bothering me. Either a story follows the rules or it doesn't.
well since that's what we're doing...if the world outside the door is determined by their thoughts immediately preceding the opening, is it really necessary to have the inside of the box represented by this infinite hallway of doors, where your physical form uses real biological resources, tires, ages, etc? couldn't they just open the door from inside the same 4-walled box/room? is the infinite hall representation a device to aid in the subject's uptake and eventual understanding of how to navigate the multiverse? is this indicative of sentient phenomena, intelligent design, etc? i may have reached "you know what I'm just gonna watch and not ask."
@@mikewilliams6633 I hear you. Your reply just made me realize that the box is what differentiates the story's world from Roger Zelazny's "Chronicles of Amber" books.

I hate these short season shows. Can we at least go back to having 20+ episodes? In the past the first 10 epi's are one story line and the second half progresses from there into a new story line. Hate having to track down good shows every month.
We haven’t found out what happened to the broken ankle Leighton yet, right?
Nah, no new news on ole beat up Leighton. My guy just raw dogging the multiverse trying to figure it out. I kind of like the idea of it never working out for him and he just wonders it for years until he gives up or dies.
@@ShayMarquel i think it would be cool if Leighton 1 end up finding Leighton 2 in some fckd up universe, after all they are the same person, may have the same fears and stuff so might end up in the same world

I think what is going to happen is Daniela is going to realize he has done something to Ryan. She gonna panic / get angry. Jason ✌🏽 will reopen the box to show Daniela. In a double whammy to get her on his side he’s gonna take her to see Max 😮🤯

I just scbscribed and saw episode 5 again. Observation: Jason2's threat to seal up the box applied to the world where Jason1 was taken to, not the world with Daniella and Charlie when the series began- which I'm calling world-1. It seem unlikely that Jason2 would seal the box to world-1 (to prevent Jason1 to going back there) since he's recruited Leighton from world-1 and I would think if Leighton plans to give Jason2 more than $50 million Leighton would want to come and go from his origin world.

My wife has a theory on where this is going. It seems plausible based on the preview notes for the next episode. Jason1 and Amanda fall in love, and she convinces Jason1 use the box to find a better world to settle in where he can both start a family with Amanda and work on projects together since they are already passed the chemistry days of the relationship since she had been sleeping with Jason2.
She also thinks that Jason2 is a narcissist and will wind up destroying the relationship with Daniella and Charlie but will take a while.

I think Blair brought the murder hornets , evidence the pandemic good Jason could have brought the pandemic with him to the next wave…also I agree with another poster Amanda subconsciously is preventing Jason going home .

Thanks for the compliment. We made 1 or 2 videos on Severance but didn't do the full season regrettably. We are gonna do a few videos during the lead up to Season 2 and then cover all of that. Can't wait!

I love what you guys are doing. I agree that episode five is the best of all. What I don’t understand is how did Jason to get born or started from Jason one? Presumably Jason2 designed and engineered the box when Leyton asked him what he’d like to develop after Jason2 who won the pavia prize. If the box did not exist at that time, how did Jason to get created?
First off thanks for the compliment- here's what Jules says about this :
The box doesn’t need to exist to allow for the universes to split, it only needs to exist to put them in superposition to allow them to travel from universe to universe. Regardless of whether or not the box exists, it’s understood that the universes still split at those decision points.
For example, when Daniela gets pregnant, the universe splits into Jason 1s universe where he chose to stay with Daniela, and Jason 2’s universe where he didn’t. The only importance the box has here is allowing Jason 2 to travel to Jason 1’s universe. Without the box, those two universes still exist.
The “evil” Jason mastered it because he had 14 months in the box. It probably changed him. Remember he went to find Blair. Also he can’t be that evil he’s taking care of a family that’s not his. Stolen of course but he’s there for them.

Do you guys think Jason the Crimnal Killed Amanda because he was in prison and Amanda had recently died in that world?

Excellent theory! Jason2 is a very dark character--so during his travels, he could have gone to Amanda because she is a psychiatrist. She could have helped him understand how to perform the mental "tricks" he needed to conquer in order to master the box. And, in return, he killed her--because he only wants to be with Daniela.
If this theory is correct, I wonder if it foretells what will happen in Jason1's world, when Jason1 and Amanda inevitably catch up with Jason2.
Once the box shows up into a reality where it didn't exist. Does it stay there now? Or does it disappear once the door closes again?
Good question. I would guess it disappears but I'm not positive. We will talk about this next video

I really enjoyed this episode, But the logic for which universes they can access seems a little shaky. Did they exist in the world where the sun had gone nova or where the giant hornets came from? And what was the training process for sending people in if only Jason 2 knew how to navigate it? We also didn't Leighton 2 this ep, so he'll be showing up at an opportune moment.
I think they had to find some continuity for how to traverse the multiverse or else it would just be chaos theory and no one one would get anywhere on purpose. And that's a good question about the no atmosphere earth. I'm even surprised they did the flood thing. Because I had been thinking they'd due if they opened the door up to water or lava. I still want answers about that damn werewolf on the fog planet earth, that was insane
@@ShayMarquel I forgot about the werewolf! What was also weird, the Chicago skyline appeared in all or most of the apocalyptic worlds, as if the disasters were recent.
...but would each Jason have the same fingerprints?

Jason-teacher will end up in wold, where Maximilian, his first sun, is alive! And he will start act, like Jason-scientist acted towards him! Cause He want that World, where all his Family. But in last moment will stop and return to cube. Also, Amanda will encourage him to find his own world, she just afraid of being lonely. She is very dangerous person!

Jules and I (Dan) have been friends for a pretty long time. Jules is very much into science. We met Bag a few months ago and have been getting along great. He's also a science geek. I'm a huge sci fi fan but sometimes need things explained to me 😂

I think Jason 1 (or 2? The bad Jason) has figured out how to use patterns or thought- talismans to get between these two different dimensions. Somehow he's able to get to the exact correct universe several times at least. So the first time he opened the door he must have been thinking of some key or thought that's easily repeatable, because even the others that kinda understand can't get anywhere. Maybe if you associate all your thoughts on the universe you want to get to with an item or image in your mind, you don't have to think all those complex thoughts. You just have to truly associate that image or thought with the place you want to go
The image would almost be an analog for the box itself. It would be like a two-dimensional image in your mind that contains on a three-dimensional level all the desires for where you truly want to go.
