Making of Guinness 'Surfer' *rare color footage*

Making of the 'Surfer' spot from 1999 for Guinness directed by Jonathan Glazer. It was championed internally at Guinness by a brave exec who defied market research (the 'wait' for a pint of Guinness turns off customers) and ignored the poor testing that the ad had. He was convinced the campaign would work and was proven right. Inspired by Walter Crane's 1893 painting 'Neptune's Horses' the effect was tricky to achieve apparently but CFC/Framestore pulled it off two years before WETA FX! The behind-the-scenes clip has rare footage in color. Remember "the best things come to those who wait..."
