Hello, I was wondering how opening went this year with this pool? Is the small 1500 gallon pump it comes with not good enough for it? How does the pool hold up in the winters? Also I was thinking about doing saltwater but I was gonna coat the poles in flex seal first to prevent them from rusting.

Hello! The pool is holding up well in the winter. We did not have any issues with it. We used the cover that came with it and a pool pillow. I am currently using the 1500 gph but it's not strong enough. We had green algae and it's been 3 days and the water looks blue now. I ordered the intex 3000 gph to upgrade the pump. Hope this helps.

Thanks, I ordered the intex 2100gph pump as they are on sale on Amazon right now, as I believe it's the same one that comes with the 18' round graphite version and that pump worked with ours last year. We had the 18' graphite pool but my wife and I found the pool too large to easily take covers on and off, so we think going to the 15' is a better option for us, we sold our 18' and bought a new 15 but the first thing i noticed was how tiny the pump is it comes with and that worried me. I'm glad you're pool is holding up well! We can't wait to get ours up

I got the 3000 gph filter on sale for $202. I used to have a vevor 3000 gph buy I had problems with leaks. I did not realize that the 18ft pool would be too big. I thought our 15ft pool is not big enough, lol. I do like that I can put the solar cover on by myself. I'd love to have a heater bc we can't use it when the water is cold but I don't know how to do that 😆

I think the struggle for us with the 18ft pool was the solar cover and how large and heavy it was to put on and off, for just my wife and I, the 15ft pool will be perfect. I don't think I'd go any smaller than a 15 but I think this size will be perfect! Hopefully the 2100gph intex will be enough for me! The 3000 should keep your pool crystal clear!

Hello! We use a cap to cover the pool outside and use the plug that came with pool for the inside.

How cold are your winters? I live in PA and bought this pool and would need to leave it up year-round. Thanks!

I live in Pa too :) This is our first year with this pool and we just cover and winterize it in the cold months.

@@Bryan-ru9zh I used a winterpill from Amazon. It only last for 6 mos though. I got algae this year when I opened the pool bc I closed it too early. I am planning to use two winterpill this year. Will add the link in the description.

We have the same Intex pool and are having trouble getting rid of the algae 😢. What type of pump/filter did you upgrade too?! I felt like the pump it came with was never sufficient.

@@cristaricketts3853 same. I think algae is very common with this heat. I was battling with yellow algae for weeks and finally back to crystal clear water. Test and make sure your alkalinity and pH level are balanced and have enough free chlorine. Shock and brush walls and let the algae settle on the bottom. Vacuum to waste and add algaecide. If the water is cloudy, add clarifier. Hope this helps.
