- Once again, the ominous red castle in the night thunder comes alive as the green rabbit rushes through its endless hallways, deep dungeons and towering bastions, evading deathly spikes, helmet knights and other medieval hazards. As a memento of that unrestrained run, this tune still echoes in the sinister halls of planet Medivo.

Feel ya there! I remember it being so hard to me...looking in the background, I think those stupid flying swords was part of its difficulty.
@@FerreTripThe whole game was made so much more difficult by the narrow viewport, so you never really felt free to build up speed because of unknown dangers, unless you had memorized that level/section.
i bought the shareware version in the supermarket carrefour, it was released by PC3 Programs
Before the internet really was a thing - I didn't think anyone else played Jazz Jackrabit xD I've always enjoyed the sound track and the comedic theme.

This is exactly the sort of thing I'd expect to hear if they put a remastered version of Jazz Jackrabbit on modern consoles (like many other classic games have done). It sounds modern, without straying too far from the original - awesome!
How's it possible that a song can make me have nostalgia for a game I never played? Guess it just has to be that good.
Maybe you played some other Epic games? I can hear some similarities in their soundtracks.
@@pieterdebie4162 Aye. This has some sound overlap with Epic Pinball (ENIGMA table?*) and One Must Fall (Menu music?*). And this mix made liberal (and genius) use of the source.
Not to mention this is one of those tracks that (to me anyways) always had a nostalgic sound to it.

I played some of it in about 2010 and thought Medivo was great. The swords were annoying.
You missed out if you never played “Jazz Jackrabbit” on Ms-Dos/Windows 95 and later “Jazz Jackrabbit 2”on Windows 98”one of the most fun pc games from the 90’s!

This is AMAZING. First. You have Great Taste. Love the original intro, and how you build on that. Thanks for initially sticking with the 'feeling' of the original and going more 'freestyle' after the first pass. Great use of the game's sounds sprinkled here and there.
Second. >2:50: This one moment cements you as great artists to me. Just the lone two beats of hushed darkness joining the picture and sound together.

@Manek Iridius What makes you so much of an expert on music and sound design? The tone/feel, complexity and layers of the original wasn't removed in this remix, but added apon, thats what a remix is about. This probably took a year to make so at least respect it, even if you still dislike it.

Okay, I'm usually pretty hard on the JJR remixes but this one is pretty frick'n sweet.
EDIT: One thing that stands out to me now (after roughly the twelfth listen) is the backing segments of the original are entirely intact. Down to the tones used, which is really important. Most JJR remixes tend to replace everything, keeping only the melody. Which to me is rather more a cover than a remix. This remix just jacks up Medivo on steroids, while putting a modern spin on the rhythm.
This is an absolutely beautiful piece of music, that celebrates the original soundtrack (which we all know was amazing) while adding just enough touches to make it sound even better. Bless you for this, this is an incredible remix. Incredible.
