    Wow, good job on the chicken coop. What a wonderful gift! My coop has a dirt floor. I had thought about putting something at the bottom in the beginning, but didn't want them slipping around on metal/plastic or getting their toes caught in mesh. So I put beams and bricks around the edges and that works for me. It also keeps the ground from getting wet inside, so don't worry about that part. Mine always stays dry. That handle you were holding the door open with looks like it was made for you to do just that.

    Gm Ann just enjoying my coffee with you!! Wow, you put that together yourself, you go girl!! Do you think you have to seal it from the weather?? I think we are getting your ☔️ rain, suppose to rain off and on all week, but we needed some, but not this much. Lol! Thanx for sending it up here!! Lol! When you were building it, did you feel all couped up??? Lol! 🤣😂. Enjoy your day and the coupe! Love and Hugs. 🤗🤗💚💖

    • @AnnsTinyLife
      @AnnsTinyLife  3 роки тому +4

      Yes I would like to put some kind of non-toxic sealant on it. I just don't know which is the best kind. It will certainly prolong its life as well as putting the pavers underneath of it.

    Great job, Ann! That's a really nice coop. I, for one, love the van coop too!
    As for not getting the tray in, personally, I would leave it out and put very course sand in the bottom. I've done some research on using sand and it seems like a great option. Anyway, I know you and the chickens will enjoy that coop for a long time to come. 😀

    How’s it holding up? Just ordered one and it should be at the store in a few days. I’ll be using this for my younger chickens before full flock integration and as an isolation coop when needed for specific breeding. Planning to put bricks under the base to raise the wood off the ground to protect it from sitting in wet mud.

  • @lorichaulk5583

    Why don’t you measure the inside and go get a mat to fit that is made of rubber base. So they don’t get wet or use the stuff that goes in gardens ( weed stopper)

    Thanks for making this video. I'm considering buying this coop but am wondering, what did you end up doing for the flooring? If you used the tray, was it easy to clean?

    • @AnnsTinyLife
      @AnnsTinyLife  Рік тому +2

      yep the tray was easy to clean. These days I don't use it as the floor. instead I put it on top of the run to provide shelter from rain. I do deep litter method so I keep adding bedding and clean it out once a year or so. no odor. makes great compost.

    The wife and I were seriously looking into getting this one and I saw your video! looks great! ..since you have had it for a minute by now, what are your thoughts? We are thinking about getting 6 - 8 birds - saw another coop that was twice the price but this one looks very affordable and great for the money

    • @AnnsTinyLife
      @AnnsTinyLife  Рік тому +1

      Sorry I missed this comment. Did you get he coop? I love the coop. It's been home to 3 easter eggers and a rooster, then 4 rabbits, now it's my leghorn coop. I plan to have up to 5 hens and a rooster in it, but with that many birds I made a small yard around the coop so they'd have room to gallivant a bit more.

      Yes we got it!!! SUPER excited... I am nearly finished building out around it (ad we got a goop heater for the weinter that is oncoming), and in spring we will expand a run for them. We added isnide insualation and some masonite walls sothey wouldn't peck the insulation but what a cool coop - thanks!!

      @@AnnsTinyLife thank you!!! Ok side question! We will be 3 hens for this coop! How can I create some sort of small area for a dust bath? We can’t free range them all day. We have a yard we will let them out for a bit but would love a dust bath in the coop - is that realistic?

    • @AnnsTinyLife
      @AnnsTinyLife  Рік тому

      @@dillmanfamily7207 it might be a tight squeeze if you're not building a yard around the coop for them but what I've done for other small space setups is made a dustbath out of a drawer. Filled it with dirt and woodash. They love it.
