Muhammad DIDN'T receive the Qur'an? Here's why! (#2)

  • Did the Qur'an come from Muhammad?
Absolutely NOT! It looks like the Qur'an did not come from Muhammad at all.
In fact the very earliest Qur'ans which have been handed down through the centuries were first written down in the 8th century, and continued to proliferate for another 200 years, until in the 10th to 15th centuries they finally chose a total of 30 different Qur'ans from amongst hundreds which existed in the Muslim world at that time.
No wonder they finally had to pick just one amongst them, the Hafs text, in 1924, and throw out the other 29, so that they could have just one official Qur'an.
But that was chosen less than 100 years ago by a man who lived 1400 years after Muhammad, and thus never knew him or heard what he said. What's more, the version he picked was written by another man in 794 AD, which is 144 years after Muhammad, and lived in Kufa, Iraq, nowhere near where Muhammad lived.
So much for believing that the Qur'an was an eternal and un-created book, revealed to just one man, which Muslims still claim was compiled in just 22 years.
It turns out that for all of these centuries we have been told a lie.

@ FACT: JAY SMITH RUNS AWAY FROM DEBATE CHALLENGES
Two Sundays ago, prominent Muslim debaters, Br. Zakir Hussain and Br. Ayaz Uddin, met Jay Smith at Hyde Park and challenged him to two debates. Smith refused to debate on the topic whether Jesus is God or not, his reasoning as he states is that it’s clearly obvious and thus not debatable. Well, can’t Brs. Zakir and Ayaz reply the same, that the Prophet’s prophethood is obvious and thus, not debatable?
I find it very odd, that Jay Smith, religiously goes to Hyde Park to debate about Islam & Christianity, and when challenged with an actual debate, he refuses to do so. What is the point of screaming at people every Sunday, and boasting about your debate skills, if you’re refusing to debate on a stage, for a scheduled and moderated debate?

@ FACT: JAY SMITH’S RUNNING SCARED AFTER UNFORESEEN DISASTER
Jay Smith’s claims during his debate with Dr. Shabir about the Qur’an have seemed to cause more trouble than he initially thought they would. See, during the debate, he claimed to have introduced new research by a colleague of his, Dan Brubaker, based on Dan’s thesis on changes in the (manuscripts of the) Qur’an. Jay had stated that Dan’s thesis would not be published until next year and so Muslims would not have been aware of its contents. However, the University that Dan Brubaker submitted his thesis through, Rice University, made his thesis available publicly. Jay, nor Dan seemed to have known this, which is why Jay assumed Muslims would have to wait one full year before they would be able to read Dan’s thesis and respond to the claims in it. Which also meant Muslims would have to wait one full year to respond to Jay’s claims based on Dan’s thesis which he made during the debate.
Unfortunately for both Dan and Jay, we got our hands on the thesis quite some time ago and already picked it apart. So when Jay was on the stage during his debate with Dr. Shabir, and he assumed that Muslims would have no idea of what he was saying or what the thesis contained, he made some pretty silly claims to bolster his bravado. Jay has now run into a major problem. After I posted that we had possession of Dan’s thesis and proved this with the thesis’ cover image, the University removed the thesis and it is no longer available. So we have a few questions that need to be answered:
      1. Why was the thesis removed after my article was published?
      2. Did Jay ask Dan to ask the University to remove it?
      3. Why would Dan suddenly request for the University to remove the thesis?
      4. Dan did not request the University to remove the thesis after the debate, so why the day after my article?
      5. Did Dan give Jay the entire thesis or just a few photos?
      6. If Dan did give Jay the entire thesis, why did Jay only claim to have taken a few photos?
      7. If Jay did read Dan’s thesis, is he aware that he openly contradicts what Dan states?
      8. Is Dan aware that Jay claimed things of Dan’s thesis that do not exist within it?
      9. Why has the University removed the thesis?
      10. Who requested the thesis be removed?
For those who’d like to see where Dan’s thesis was once available and now is miraculously removed from the University’s page, please see our Brother Ahmed’s accessing of it:
      1islam.files.wordpress.com/2014/10/cc-2014-riceuniversity.jpg?w=694&h=173
This article has been sent to Jay Smith. Will he respond to the questions, or does he realise he’s in a bit of a conundrum? Has Jay been put in an awkward position? Its sudden removal is quite telling. Jay does have reason to be concerned, why else would it be removed? Why else would Jay have Dan request the University to remove it? Jay knows that he’s screwed up big time and the fun is only just starting!

@ FACT: A CRITICAL ANALYSIS OF JAY SMITH'S [PfanderFilms] MISTAKES ABOUT THE QUR'AN
      • Analysis Of Jay Smith’s Allegations About The Qur’an
      MISTAKE #1:
“One of the problem’s that we’ve had is that we’ve not really been able to look at the Qur’an.” - 18:22.
At the very beginning of his presentation, Jay Smith attempts to falsely establish a conspiratorial narrative in which he claims that the Islamic world has been trying to prevent academic research of the Qur’an’s extant4 manuscripts. This however, cannot be more than furthest from the truth. It is universally known that the greatest Orientalist attempt at studying the Qur’anic manuscripts was undertaken by the Germans in the 20th century in which 15, 000+ photographs were taken of Qur’anic manuscripts located worldwide, unimpeded by the Muslim world. Consequent to this, the infamous history of the hiding of these photographs by Orientalists themselves, is recorded as follows:
“As a preliminary result there was finally gathered a comprehensible mass of material stored with Bergstrasser in Munich, not the least a collection of about 15,000 photographs of folios of very old Koran codices from all over the world. As the one who inherited the task of continuing after World War 2 the work of his teacher Bergstrasser (d. 1933) and of Arthur Jeffery, and meanwhile as the successor to the chair of Bergstrasser in Munich, Spitaler spread the rumor that these materials had perished in the bomb attacks on Munich in the last months of World War 2. Still further, in a note from 1972 in a publication of his (see Rudi Paret [ed.], Der Koran, Darmstadt 1975, p.413) Spitaler fostered this rumor. But now in the ending 1990s it comes out that he was in possession of these approximately 15,000 photographs all the time since 1945, obviously to keep everybody else aloof from them in order to reserve exclusively to himself the right and possibility of exploiting them in the hope of producing something outstanding in Koran scholarship - what in the end he was obviously incapable of achieving. Such behaviour is well known in the history of scholarship as characteristic of mediocre scholars who never develop a sense of unselfish scholarship as mere search for truth but are oriented solely on their own personal career and questionable fame.” - “A Challenge to Islam for Reformation by Gunter Luling, Preface, XXI.”
At this point, the quote that Jay uses at the timestamp of 18:29 is from Shaykh Muhammad Mustafa al-’Azami’s, “The History of the Qur’an: From Revelation to Compilation”, p. 315. As will become quite apparent, Jay’s modus operandi from this point onward is to mention the name of an author and to provide some apparent information4 based on these author’s works5, which when examined in relation to what he has claimed, there appears to be a consistent pattern of inventing conclusions, misrepresenting the research done or by manufacturing information outright.
      4. While making his claims, Jay presents a bundle of papers grasped in his hands in which he states that the information from the authors he is appealing to, is contained within that bundle. However, not once does he give a citation from that bundle of papers. What is perplexing is that he ad libs his way through most of his presentation and never references a single quote from that bundle of papers. If anyone can provide an instance in which he cites a book by Dr. Deroche and gives a page number, I’ll be amazed. He attempts to convince the crowd that he has done his research by waving this bundle of papers around, but surprisingly he can’t give a single complete book, journal or thesis reference!
      5. The literature of the authors he mentions by name, patently disagrees with his claims. One has to ask, has he actually read these works or not?
      MISTAKE #2:
“Now up till a few years ago there was not much we could do about this claim, there was not much we Christians could do or anybody else because we were not given access to these manuscripts. We could go to the Topkapi Manuscripts, which is the one there in Istanbul, the one which most Muslims would look at as their standard. We couldn’t go to the Samarkand which was in Tashkent, we couldn’t go to the Husseini Manuscripts which was in Cairo.” - 19:48.
I (the author) am quite surprised that he claims Christians were not given access to these manuscripts with the exception of up until a few years ago. This is odd, considering that one of the foremost works on the Husseini Manuscripts in which four folios were published was by Bernhard Mortiz in the year 19056. It is perhaps Jay’s intention to bolster the validity of his conspiratorial idea7, by claiming that Christians were denied access to the Cairo manuscripts for religious purposes. He fails to mention however, that the restriction was due to a major political fallout8 in the years following the British Occupation of Egypt from 1882 to 1953.
His claims about the manuscripts from Samarqand are perhaps even more deceitful. The Samarqand manuscripts were studied extensively in Russia, not Uzbekistan, but in the city of St. Petersburg in 1891 by the Russian Orientalist A. Shebunin. The facsimile edition of the manuscripts was published by the Orientalist S. Pissareff in 1905, also from St. Petersburg in Russia. Dr. Saifullah documents9 that many folios from the codex have appeared in various auctions in the Western world. They appeared in America in the 1940’s, and were also auctioned off in London in 1992, 1993 and
      6. See, Bernhard Moritz’s, “Arabic Palaeography: A Collection of Arabic Texts From the First Century of the Hidjra Till the Year 1000”, 1905.
      7. His conspiracy theory, as previously stated is that the Islamic world hid the manuscripts from Christians so that they would not be able to examine them. This despite the Christian-Orientalist world having had access to them and publishing works about those manuscripts, as well as taking photographs of them since the 19th century.
      8. I could be wrong, but according to history, the natives of a militarily occupied nation may not necessarily be enthusiastic to cooperate with their colonial masters. If Jay is willing to explain how the British military occupation of Egypt did not contribute to the lack of cooperation between the native Egyptians and their colonial occupiers, I’d be willing to give him the time he needs to justify his reasoning, however long or impossible that may be.
      9. See, Dr. Saifullah’s history of the manuscript with full citations in his article, “The Qur’an of ‘Uthman at Tashkent (Samarqand)”.
      MISTAKE #3:
“It is those 6 manuscripts that I’m going to zero in on, it is those manuscripts that we’ve finally, finally had Muslims look at.” - 20:46.
Does he mean the extensive codifying/ cataloguing of them which has already been done for some time now, or does he mean the studying and examining of them? It’s obvious the former was done, otherwise how were the other books in Mistake #2 compiled? If he means the latter, then that already has been done for quite some time by Muslim scholars. One such work is Mu’gam al-Qira’at al-Qur’anniya by Ahmad Muhtar Umar and Abd al - al Salim Mukarram which has gone through two editions in Kuwait and at least one printing in Iran. There was also Mu’gam al - Qira’at by Abd al Latif Muhammad Hatib published in Syria10.
Jay then proceeds to refer to Dr. Tayyar Altıkulaç and Dr. Ekmeleddin İhsanoğlu whom he mentions here but never references once during his entire opening statement. We must ask if he has ever read any of their works or is he simply mentioning their names as an appeal to authority11, he also foregoes another scholar’s work published since 197212.
      1. See, Arabica 57 (2010), p. 415 for more information and full citations as provided by Dr. Sadeghi. It’s interesting that Smith appeals to Dr. Sadeghi later in the debate, he even mentions that he’s read Dr. Sadeghi’s works. If he has indeed read Dr. Sadeghi’s published works, how can he possibly not know of the studies done by Muslim scholars on those manuscript collections which Dr. Sadeghi references and mentions by name numerous times in his journal publication?
      2. Jay Smith frequently mentions the names of these two Muslim Turkish scholars, but not once does he quote them or give a single citation from them. There is one point later in the debate in which he references the number 93 from Dr. Deroche’s work but gives his own analysis and draws his own conclusions, which contradicts Dr. Deroche’s own conclusions.
      3. See, S. al-Munajjid’s, “Dirasat fi Tareekh al-Khatt al-’Arabi Mundhu Bidayatihi ila Nihayat al-’Asr al-Umawi”, 1972. ...more

Confident prediction: someone is going to pipe up in the comments saying "Jay is stupid. The Quran was revealed in 7 dialects. That's all he's talking about and we all know that."
Pre-emptive response: however many versions Mohammed had, Uthman is supposed to have allowed only ONE version to exist. EITHER the story about Uthman is false (in which case Islam is in trouble) OR all the variants we now find came into existence after Uthman (in which case the Quran has not been perfectly preserved and Islam is in trouble).

I saw one manuscript which I think was in the 7th century probably pre islamic that had red dots and some didn't had dots. The arabic letters were pretty big. Another interesting point, Hafs was a known scammer, he was notorious for stealing books and plagiarizing them. That was the reason why all of his hadiths were rejected. Nothing coming from him was to be trusted. Do you suppose that might be one of the reasons for all the plagiarism in the Quran? That Hafs wasn't just the transmitter, but he plagairized those earlier stories, put them in the Quran, and then put his name on it to make money?

@@user-vw1qn1er1l I neither know Hafs nor his story but I believe one can understand why he stole and plagiarized books. He was a transmitter of the Qur'an. He had to ingest it fully and recite it the same way. He was not supposed to alter that book and was praised for it. If it is that good, why not doing the same thing with other books? Worse, the way I understand one is supposed to read the Qur'an is to carefully avoid asking questions about it, avoid trying to understand it and carefully fill oneself with the holy scripture while evacuating any personal thought about it. Anything going that way is considered good and desirable. Anything he met going in that same direction was then accepted first and without thinking about it. It confirmed the holy book why refusing to believe in it?
If he was chosen because he was the most popular of the transmitters, I consider it means he was accepted at his time. That goes in the direction of my idea.
None of this proves anything but his work is the chosen one, the unaltered version of the Qur'an is his. I bet there exists texts praising him. Remember I do not know Hafs.

There is an old medieval play that circulated around Europe during the time of the Islamic assault on Spain and Europe. It was produce a troupe medieval actors that were all midgets. The main character was Mohammed and the rest were his follower
In the play there is a scene Mohammed gets the first Koran. He goes up to a midget actor and instruct him to bend down. Mohammed then reaches in the actors rear end and pulls out a Koran. As I watch your video it seems no one knows where Mohammed got his Koran. Hence the medieval play is as good an explanation as any.

Assuming Jesus was who Christians say he is; it’s interesting to note, and worth noting, that he chose to not leave us documents that he himself had written. Logically we initially think and wish that he had. But in Islam, which has chosen to follow this strategy, we can see the problems that run with this. For starters, it can end up with humans worshiping every grammatical mark as if it were God himself. But the mega-meta issue is that it immediately begins to chisel away at free-will that we know God created us with. There’s plenty in the Judeo-Christian text to suggest that God purposely created us; that he purposely gave us free will, which also created metaphysical/theological problems for us, for which Christ then is the fix. That all fits. But we also know that what logic is to humans, and we like logic, paradox appears to be for God. Jesus came and he taught, but he delegated, he left it to us to write the book of his teachings - and some how it has turned out to be much better than if he had sate down and wrote it himself. Among other things, Jesus was much more concerned about our intent than in our meeting every letter of the law, he didn’t want us worshipping every grammatical mark of a text - this was some of the problem with the approach of the Old Testament, which is one reason why Jesus said “I came to fulfill the law.” Nobody else could fulfill the law, and by focusing on acts instead of intent, it got people away from dealing with people’s intent which he saw as much more important. Again, this is about how we manifest the free will that he gave us - he gave it to us because he thought it was important that we have it - how often to religious people try to give back to God the free will that God gave us? Free-will and our coming to God via our own volition, we love him by our own volition - that is the divine paradox he wanted of us. The Muslims can’t deal with divine paradox too well. “How can there be a three in one God?”, and how can a book written by humans be the word of God and not become corrupted along the way by humans? But now we know the paradox - the Bible was preserved by a pre-modern form of what today we call “block-chain” technology. The “block’ is the “data”, the data gets copied and distributed across a number of nodes, if one of those nodes “becomes” corrupted, it is fixed by way of comparison with the vast number of other recordings in the chain of distribution. This is the paradox: in their desire for certainty in their document Islam has failed to have a certain document, while Christianity in its looser approach and without emphasis in absolute divine certainty has nevertheless arrived with a much more trust worthy document. One of Islam's real problems is its obtuseness to free will. In many respects it tries to negate it, to use coercion to bring us to God, as if giving us free-will was a mistake God made and is trying to take back.
It is extremely important that the Koran be disproven as being reliable and trust worthy document. That is because of the way Islamic Jurisprudence works. The book + the jurisprudence is the source of terrorism and violence today. The book says to follow the example of the prophet. The prophet was a thief, (see John 10:10 says about thieves), an enslaver, a rapist, a murderer, a torturer and committed genocide against Jews. This is the source of so much of our strife today. Disprove the book and the authority of Mohammed over so many of today's muslims is destroyed and with it, the impulse to commit terrorism.
I'm Christian but not very orthodox and not much for proselytizing. I tend to think everyone has heard of Jesus and like the prodigal son, has to pursue their free will and hopefully find their way back to God, (that part I do pray for). But I don't have problems with people being Buddhist, Confucius, Taoist, Hindu, Zoroastrian, whatever - because they can find their way in peace as their free will takes them (just like the prodigal son). I do have a problem with Islam because of the terrorism, because of where it takes people, because of its deliberately anti-Christ, anti-free will, love, truth, etc... I wish it to not exist and free the 1.8 billion people trapped inside of it. So, if the Koran is proved as definitively false, it would be a great liberation for all of mankind. The anti-truth part suggests that Islam is probably not going to survive the internet age. As this comes to be realized people will fall away from Islam in increasing numbers.

Those who are in false religions “can find their way in peace”......🥴😳....can find their way WHERE? To Hell, if their death precedes their discovery of the Truth (Jesus Christ). I know we all fail in many things (James 3:2-3), but I would have to say that taking a blasé attitude to the fate of unbelievers is actually disobedience to the Great Commission as given by Jesus in Matthew 28:19-20. Surely scripture says ‘Let the redeemed of the Lord SAY SO’ (Psalm 107:2). We can’t all be world-shaking evangelists (I’m not 😩), but we should be trying to reach as many people as we possibly can, especially since we are so close to the end. Shalom in Christ ✝️ , Tom

@@tomobrien5795 No, or I'm not sure about that. I defer to the parable of the Prodigal Son.
God gives us free will. He doesn't interfere. He wants us to come to him by our own volition. Much of the Gospels we are encouraged to seek the truth, Jesus even teaches us how to do that, what it looks like, what to be weary of, that sort of thing. He gave us free will, then set us free, and hopes we will come to him through our own volition. The Prodigal Son is all of our's biographies told from God's perspective.
God gave us enough free will to not choose him, and that's what we did. But out of his love for us, he doesn't want that for us, so in Christ he provides a way back to him WITHOUT US LOSING OUR FREE WILL. That perspective is explained here by an Orthodox Priest talking to an Evangelical Pastor (ua-cam.com/video/LTA8jbsm_XI/v-deo.html) Most of the theology discussion starts at about 18:30 mark.
What it suggests to me, is FREE WILL is the premier concept. God could have made us without free will in regard to him, and we would never not choose him, we would never have been be-damned, and then Jesus would not have had to have come and suffer his passion. So all of that suffering on his part is so we could be who and what we are WITH free will.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not a theologian, I'm not over-religious, I don't have the bible memorized or anything like that, I just find concept and ideas to be interesting things to ponder (which is why I like to watch an Orthodox Priest have a discussion with an Evangelical Pastor), so I hope you will find no offense in this.
It seems possible to me, though I don't know whether or not he would do it, that God can love a man who was very honest, very loving, very well meaning but did not find his way to Christianity, it is up to God whether or not to save him, to be with him into eternity. Presumably that is what he did the 2nd day after he was crucified, something about descending into hell and freeing up all the good people that past away - but I don't know about that, but I think I've heard people describe that before. God can love someone who was honest, loving, caring and who sought the truth but didn't find his way all the way back to him, but in failing did so honestly, earnestly and in the pursuit of good will and truth - or so it would seem to me. Conceptually, God can do whatever he wants to do.

What is the deal with Qurayshi dialect and Mecca/Medina, was it not Petra and what dialect was spoken in Petra?
If the oldest manuscripts are "rasms" are these even capable of expressing dialects? Did people in Mecca use the more developed south Arabic script?
What other contemporary or earlier documents other than the Quran exist, in rasms or better scripts?
If Uthman supposedly standardized the text in the Qurayshi dialect, and if he was only using "rasms", was dialectal distinction even possible?
If Uthmans texts were so definitive, why then are later "standardizations" produced?
If none of the Uthman codexes are preserved, did they even exist, or was it just folklore?
Likely some figure named, or later called Mohamed, must have existed, and rich folklore embellished his achievements.
Dissecting the Quran is like dissecting a turd, you know what it is even before you start, and the more you dig the worse it smells. Finding anything good in there is unlikely. Convincing people that miasma can be converted into something useful is fortuitous.

The contemporary of Muhammad knew from the first day that the words he was speaking is not Mecca dialect but of bedouin. The book is a repetition of books starting from the creation, Adam and Eve. Each book is of different style dating the oldest to be two centuries old bedouin dialect, which in last version of Quran is classified in chronological order from latest to the oldest. Most of these books start with a strange announcement "We are the people of Israel" says the voice . This phrase is totally neglected by the muslims as it contradicts the belief that Allah spoke directly to the prophet. The reality as early scholars understood, Allah gave his massage throughout two centuries to the Israelits who escaped from Qumran chased by the Romans, and they communicate to Muhammad the massage. By this, the prophets of Islam are the Israelits and not Muhammad who simply was postman.

If the letters of Paul are just mere tafseer, why is it they become the main core of the New Testament which comprised 90 percent of it. These should be written in a separate book. In the Islamic standard, no single tafseer is included in the Holy Qur’an. Hence, the letters of Paul must be written in a separate book.

The Birmingham Quran manuscript is a parchment on which two leaves of an early Quranic manuscript are written. In 2015 the manuscript, which is held by the University of Birmingham,[1] was radiocarbon dated to between 568 and 645 CE (in the Islamic calendar, between 56 BH and 25 AH).[2][3] It is part of the Mingana Collection of Middle Eastern manuscripts, held by the university's Cadbury Research Library.[2]
The manuscript is written in ink on parchment, using an Arabic Hijazi script and is still clearly legible.[3] The leaves preserve parts of Surahs 18 (Al-Kahf) to 20 (Taha).[4] It was on display at the University of Birmingham in 2015 and then at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery until 5 August 2016.[5] The Cadbury Research Library has carried out multispectral analysis of the manuscript and XRF analysis of the inks.[6]

This would add to some questions that they have proposed in other videos. The current Quran is written in a more modern Arabic. Muslims say that the current Quran is an unblemished transmission of the original but the Arabic in the current Quran was spoken 600 miles north of Mecca. The Meccans would have used the Hijazi script. So this would support their contention that the current Quran isn't a representation of the original but rather a translation of the original which means the standard narrative that Muslims give about the transmission of the Quran is false which effects their claim that the perfect transmission of the original text is proof of its Godly origins.
On the other hand, many of the discoveries they have found or have studied suggests much of Islam's evolution happened in the North and there really isn't any record of Mecca during the time of Mohammad. This manuscript, to me, would argue against their position since it is in the Quraishi Arabic dialect. This suggests that it did in fact come from there since the manuscript is so old.

Putting Khimar on your head, one do not become arab. So stop filling yourself and people.
Let us give me example of todays so call modern language “English”.
We have American English, British English, Australia English. All there 3 regions speak different dialects and expressions.
Now think of non English people pronunciation. Asian people.. Do they pronunciations same! dialects similar to American and British.?Answer is NO.
You may find different version written of Quran from earlier community is because of dialects. But it doesn’t mean that message and meaning is change.
Example. - Maalik vs Malik. There is little change in Pronunciation but the meaning remains same.
Quran is a book from Almighty Lord. Well protected with mathematical code.

This is a good topic, but sooooooooooooooooooo much information is missing. What they are not saying: is the actual text different, meaning is the text completely different. If that's the case, it would mean Uthman changed the actual text and those who had memorize the Quran would now have to learn a completely text outside their qira'at. Had Uthman changed the text, the other companions of the Prophet would have considered him an apostate for such and rebelled against him. Furthermore, Islam is complete with two Quran & Sunnah (prophetic narration). They go hand and hand. If you are smart and understand not all of the companions were Saudi and spoke the same dialect of Arabic the Qira'at makes total sense. It's like you tell a Canadian, New Orleans Creole, A Bostonian, A Southern Gheece, Irish, and Londoner to memorize a 50 Cent song verbatim. Regardless of the text, it's going to sound different though the words remain the same. For ex: where I'm from I say Liberry, someone from the south will say Lyyybery, etc. Same word different sound. Let's not even start on the Bible, because scholarship concerning the validity of authorship alone deserves a college semester.

Quran says Quran is given upon Mohammad. You say no. Then you need to delete those sentence from Quran and name it other term.
