⚪️Synopsis🟠
In Canton, Mississippi, young lawyer Jake Brigance and his aide Harry Vonner defend black Carl Lee Hailey accused of killing two white men who raped his ten-year-old daughter Tonya, inciting violent retribution. From John Grisham's novel. - Розваги
That man was born to play a lawyer.
Especially when he defended the police of uvalde texas who let 30 children get murdered right in front of them
Lincoln lawyer is one of my all time favorites. I watch it when I need to stop feeling sorry for myself and put my badass pants on 🎉
He was born to play any role he wants to.
He originally wanted to be an attorney. He's just playing something that would have come naturally to him.
Suits his real personality
Looking back at the actors , so long ago and much much younger , true professionals
Carl Lee knew the character of the deputy; that's why he told the lawyer the "ask him if he thinks I should go to jail".
You turn him loose
Yeah, that was really one of the turning point of the trial. I think I read the book before the movie was made. I don't see any , too any , liberties taken with the source material here.
I remember the negotiations in the book, with the ... big city organization that wanted to bring in the big city lawyers with their money, maybe they were put of state too.
The lawyer was not a Saint, too, in the book.
You can see him slip into that dark place the last few frames
I had tears on my eyes when Matthew said to the jurors to closed their eyes and imagine if their daughters were raped.
I can’t even watch this movie! When the little girl says daddy I called for you and you didn’t come. I lose my mind.
Yeah…that was a movie I’ll only watch once. The only scenes I can watch is when the father says that he deleted the men who assaulted his daughter and would do it again and the defense lawyer’s closing statement.
Don't read the book then.
@@EzekielBrockmann I’ve never had a movie affect me like this does. I can’t imagine it being worse. Thanks for heads up
I read the book first. It was horrific. It tells the little girls thoughts and she kept wanting her daddy to come save her. They didn't deserve to be considered human.
@@bobbierobinson6269 Yeah, that book was a rough read. Now that I have kids I don’t think I could read it again.
No matter the color… Pete-O’s get the Wood Chipper… Feet First… stopping every few minutes to take a water break
How about every 30 seconds?
Gotta meet in the middle, man.
Love it
Gotta love that cadence hopefully b when we turn the clocks back
All dudes named Pete better watch their backs
Keep that energy for doe 174
For me this was the best Samuel L Jackson movie that I can watch no matter what. It makes me cry and it literally makes my heart hurt! Loved the book Sam really brought it alive for me. Read the book!!!
It was Grisham’s first major novel… but I never heard of it until I read The Firm… then I went back & read A Tine To Kill. It was a tough read… because of the content. But still couldn’t put it down. I think Pelican Brief was next??
I forget, but I do remember that (while the books are ALWAYS better) all 3 movies did a pretty good job staying true to the books. And big time casting always helps if the film maker deviates from the original story too much.
@@Willie_McBride Pelican Brief was the first time I'd ever watched a movie that was almost as good as the book....!! Normally I don't care to watch the movie if I've already read the book but when I read the Pelican Brief I was only 17yrs old (1992) and didn't watch the movie until about 5yrs later on DVD....!! I hadn't realized it was the same book I'd read already....!! I'm an avid reader, have been my entire life and half the time I can't tell you the names or the authors of book's I've read and watching the Pelican Brief was one of those time's I didn't remember reading the book until the movie was playing and then it hit me....!!
Most Grisham film adaptations are really good, imo.My mom read all his books n got me to start watching his movies.
@@justinbausman7122 Yes all the adaptation are very close to the books. I am so glad about that. I hate thinking that wasn't in the book.
Mine is a tie between Long Kiss Goodnight and Die Hard: With a Vengeance.
Defence lawyers may say it and believe that they are representing the Constitution and not the man But they all fear finding out that a previous client has just done far worse.
No they do not. Gotta compartmentalize that to be effective
You're talking about The Lincoln Lawyer, right?
Can confirm. I’ve spoken with quite a few (friends of friends) and ethically speaking they can break provable if they believe this person with in fact continue to act in this way like if there a serial rapist.
I don’t know what your background is, but defense lawyers generally speaking don’t feel they’re doing a disservice. Not an attorney here fyi. Everyone deserves a fair defense, no matter what they’re accused of, or the likelihood of guilt. Even if you somehow knew your client committed the crime they’re being charged for (in which case it may not be a good idea for you to have that case) that doesn’t paint a full picture. What lead up to the crime? Was the defendant forced into committing the crime? Were they coaxed? What was the defendants mental state? What was their childhood like? Is this their first time? There’s so much complexity to law, and criminal defense, that it’s unethical and immoral to assume someone’s guilt based on what you believe it to be. Remember, it’s the government vs you when you’re charged with a crime. When the government, your friends, and family turn on you, your defense attorney will be the only one making sure you’re heard (many do it making shit money) Just like prosecutors, and cops, defense attorneys are heroes too.
@@PinkNinjaKick (/) No never meant anything negative with my comment.
It’s simply an occupational Hazard, that at some point someone that you kept out of jail will wind up committing a far worse crime.
A Great Book and a Great Movie. Can't imagine anyone but McConaughey playing "Jake".
Chris Cooper is severely underrated, but thank God he isn’t under-casted.
I think u need to learn what under rated means.. if it means 1 of the most sought after character actors then it would apply. He has had a strong steady career, u don't get hired when u are underrated.
@@UsernameUnkwn21 Did you read my comment? Or is this a semantics lesson?
Amazing film. Truly provoking. Incredible cast.
True story
Best
I rented it and watched it 3 times this week. So good.
I loved the part when the lawyer said to the jurors close your eyes and he started telling the story in detail what happened to the daughter when he got to the end he said imagine that she is white and everyone's eyes snapped open in shock. That is a true mark of a great story teller!
@@evos469 Except that the real life crime was the rape and beating of 2 white girls by a black man, Willie James Harris
One of the best films I've ever seen. Samuel Jackson is amazing
Everyone still thinks “alright alright alright” for him. But man he’s made some amazing films
EXCELLENT movie & his closing to persuade that jury.
Outstanding & amazing movie. One of his best
I wish Chris Cooper had a bunch of lead roles. He is awesome 👌
This movie needs more credit than it gets. It's a film everyone should see at least once. Brilliantly written, and everyone who acted in the movie was perfect. You truly feel every emotion they show while watching.
Great book and movie. Read the book first, John Gresham!
@@VickySwindoll great thank you 😊
One of John Grishams best books
The movie title: A Time to Kill
Debbie Does Dallas
You can see him go into a dark place, shortly after this he became a detective, he was never the same again.
One of the best most iconic movies of all time !
It was a true life story
@@ywoulduchoosetousethisinteresting fact, the irl races are reversed
@@Srz_bzns I do not understand ur comment. The 2 sentences do not seem to have much in common. Care to link them?
@@ywoulduchoosetousethis irl=in real life.
The criminals were black and the victim was white.
The publisher wouldn't touch that version of the story though
@Srz_bzns Hmmm, I can never argue with stupid ppl. They have too much practice.
U got so accustomed to 5 jews demeaning blacks. U refuse to accept an actual court case.
This cops testimony in court was one of the best and most emotional parts of this brilliant movie.
This is the most realistic movie as far as accurately depicting the humidity and sweating ......in fact I truly believe all the sweating throughout the movie by all of the cast members was their real sweat and reaction to the heat and humidity.
This was excellent movie. I thought it gave a good example of how connected people can manipulate court cases & influence the jury. The scene with the daughter was just gut wrenchingly heartbreaking
I read this book when I was younger. Early 90’s. John Grisham and Robert Ludlum are my favourite writers. IYKYK.
Close you eyes....
Now imagine she's white
Amazing movie and that final speech to the jury at the end of the movie should have won him an award
Fastest way to make someone choose to help is when a man is doing anything for the defense of his kids
Great movie! The twist in the story at the end... awesome delivery
One of my favourites. With a fantastic courtroom speech. Very moving especially when that cop loses his leg but still demands he be freed for doing what any father would.
Amazing movie. One of my favorites.
Every father should own....
This book was incredible to read.
Black women, girls kived that nightmare
EVERY single Day back then!!!
It was NEVER a great movie for thrm and their families.
How does that make this not a great movie? Isn't it good that people talk about things like this?
BRAVO! You gave a short bit showing the title, the year, even the IMDb 7.5 rating, as well as it's availability on Amazon Prime. Well done.
It always amazes me, most people not thinking to name the film. I can only think ill of them, well, mad they can't perform, but a bit sad, really, they are so unequipped as humans.
You think I'll of people just for not posting some information? Lol
How to say "I do not understand how the UA-cam Algorithm works", without saying I do not know how the UA-cam algrorithm works.........
Always a great film!
Good movie..watched numerous times
This is why I never could pursue being a criminal-defense lawyer. If you did something and I know you did it, I can’t morally defend you.
One of the best movies and books ever. One of the best actors of our time.
I like the ending.... "I thought our kids could play together"
Such a great movie. The closing argument in court by Jake/Matthew was... one of the best and most memorable scenes I've ever seen in a film.
This movie made me so angry
Tear jerker for sure.
Court movies...this movie is in the top 5.
The closing from the defense lawyer still sits in my head today, I was eight when I saw this movie and yet I understood how important the closing was to get Samuel l Jackson free
Fantastic book and movie.
One of the best movies ever . It will make you cry 😢.
I met a gentleman one day around noon. I don't actually know how we started talking but he told me he just got out of prison. He went on to say that he heard about a little girl here in Tampa that had been raped so he went found him and killed him. True Story Tampa Tribune News paper
Amazing movie one of his best
Great movie. Best closing argument of all time
A really good movie. Makes u think and look at things different
This was an epic movie ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Great movie!
They played father and son (different timelines) in “Lone Star” - wonderful movie
the one time the film is far far better than the book .
For anybody that can still read these man's books were fantastic. A painted house was one of the best books I've ever read. Funny it didn't have s*** to do with the law.
Great powerful movie
Absolutely great film
Damn good movie. Many great actors & actresses. Starring:
Sandra Bullock
Samuel L. Jackson
Matthew McConaughey
Kevin Spacey
Brenda Fricker
Oliver Platt
Charles S. Dutton
Ashley Judd
Patrick McGoohan
Donald Sutherland
Been a long time. Have to watch again
I remember this movie. It was one of the few serious movies Sandra Bullock was in.
I watched this movie alone then after two days later I watched it with my gf. I couldn't help it but see her cry at the end of the movie😢😢
Great book and film
I could never be a defense attorney. I’d go to prison for life the first time I found out I had defended a guilty man.
Finally a channel that posts the name of the film in the bloody video 😂
Awesome my man mike
Hardest opening chapter to a book I've ever read.
If there was never a time, this would definitely be that time.
I read this book, was fantastically written but gut wrenching ....the movie was so good to how I pictured it....amazing cast.
Dexters dad knows how to land punches damn
Fantastic Movie!
This a classic 7.5 is a disrespectful rating for this film. Top tier acting and nostalgic feel
It was a tough book to read and a tough movie to sit thru.
Incredible film. 1 of my all time favourites
Thanks for sparing us the question of the title❤
I love that you show the name of the movie hope more do it
My mom loves this movie. You turn him loose.... The end when he talks to the jury ...
Great film& the ending bit in court WOW
The way Sam came out that closet AK style was legendary
Great movie
This movie is criminally underrated. If you get to the end without wiping away some tears...I dunno
A time to kill.. movie name
fantastic movie and thoughts.
The name of the movie where to find it omg just perfect❤️
Chris Cooper as Joe Kenehan in Matewan. 😢
Heart breaking, amazing film, my dad told me to watch it , didn’t think I was gonna like it , amazing tho
The book was beautiful. The movie a well.. 10/10 gotta watch
One of my all time favorite movies!
They cut the best parts of that movie. Sammuel L. Jackson would have won an academy award if they didn't.
Absolutely great movie!
What im getting is that he did defend that guy in court but it's unreasonable to hold the lawyer responsible especially when the leap from selling drugs to assaulting a minor is massive
I read the book 😊
A great film, that I was only able to watch Once..😮
Well Dwayne it was like this. Me an my client was walking down the steps to the courthouse an he slipped an fell from the top an didn't make it. .
Well it looked like he fell from the top floor.
Well in all honesty he did fall from the steps. About 15 different times. Only reason it wasn't 16 is cause i got tired from dragging his body from the bottom back to the top your Honor.
Case dismissed. Thank you your Honor. No thank you for being a public servant and for the doing of the lords work
Does this great movie have a name?
Excellent movie
Chris is such an amazing actor.
Great movie!!!!
Great movie, but they left way too many details out from the book!
Absolutely brilliant movie 🎉🎉🎉
