I chose them because they were not booking middle seats (and Jet Blue was not avail from my city) but by the date of my flight rolled around they had those middle seats filled. Also, I booked Comfort Plus, as I am very tall. Their last flight from Detroit to Vermont was not comfort plus, nor could you move the seat divided up and down, allowing for east of entry and exit. Flew Jet Blu recently after hundreds of flights on these airlines. Leg room in economy fantastic. Knees weren’t crushed. Spotless plane. Great coffee! Nice attendants who were wonderful. Great experience. Best was the free wifi movies. And leg room!!!
I've flown almost 2 million miles on Delta over 20 years, and I don't think I've ever walked up to an agent without being called, or made eye contact. The scenairio you present is the reason why (they're sometimes not finished working when a passenger leaves). just fyi
Fatigue is real. Speaking as a FA I understand the tone of the announcement but I will say I could have been delivered without the edge. Either way, passengers don't truly listen and they hear what they want to hear when its convenient to them.
Awesome comparison. United definitely is “basic” for sure but typically is my only primary option when flying out of Newark. I’ve flown delta once on a short trip to Boston and was blown away by the service and friendly and attentive Staff. Was even seat upgraded as the flight was full and they were so apologetic. I only wish delta had their hub in jersey and not la guardia.
United airlines economy has become pay less and get less on their domestic routes. I’m okay with it because they have great food in the terminals especially at Newark so I don’t value a meal as part of my ticket.
Whether the middle seat is blocked or not doesn’t change the fact that it’s still the same air y’all are breathing. Air is air regardless of the middle seat blocking and you’re still within 6 ft
I've flown on the Delta 737-900er and they have adjustable headrests in economy because they're realtively new. Its only the 737-800s and the now retired 737-700s that don't have them.
I am surprised that you didn't take into consideration the cleaning service that happens after each flight. As far as I am aware, Delta and United both have a cleaning/sanitizing spraying process between each flight, while American doesn't. Still a great video as always!
Eh, I think it was fair to leave it out, especially if they noticed the planes were clean and if they were given wipes. Flew Southwest once during COVID and got to stay on during the layover in Nashville and I could see how they cleaned the plane...they barely do it. One person comes through, sprays the trays in each row, and wipes it all down with the same rag. Wouldn't be surprised if the other airlines were similar. Always helps to carry your own set of wipes (something I started doing the year before COVID hit after a dirty table on United).
United also has a disparity between Airbus vs Boeing narrowbodies in terms of seat comfort. It's essentially the reverse of Delta. On Delta, Airbus is superior to Boeing narrowbodies and is more representative of Delta. On United, their 737 seats are more comfy than their Airbus seats, and is more representative of United. The seats on their 737s are the same seat model as than on their 767s, most of their 787s, some of their 777, and in fact use the same seat model as Delta's A320s and 737-900ERs.
I really haven't flown United much but have flown American extensively and since my move to a new location flying Delta more. All in all I loved American, long haul, short haul never had a bad experience. But, recently flying Delta more often I must say Delta might just become my favorite, Also, I fly Alaska Airlines and I like them as well. Alaska's early or on-time arrivals are outstanding as long as you fly earlier in the day. The later in the day seems the flights depart and arrive later and later.
I have been flying JetBlue for the last 10 years. Love JetBlue! If you have a choice fly them, you’ll never fly another airline. In may we had to fly American Airlines. Never again, small seats with no leg room, no outlets and no TV. Most uncomfortable flight I’ve ever had. Totally sucked.
Thank you! Honestly, I have not been on an airline in years. Flying looks like it is much nicer now than it was in the "olden days" back when I last flew.
Some points to note: 1) Colton was not able to check in online because United's basic economy tickets requires that an agent check the personal item bag dimensions prior to issuing the boarding pass. Honestly though, it just seems like a discouraging move to prevent people from booking basic economy 2) Not sure why Colton did not mention the second AA aircraft did not have IFE, however, it was a ex-US Airways legacy aircraft. AA is removing IFE from most, if not all, narrow body aircraft due to their "Project Oasis" scheme
Great point! I meant to touch on the seats on the second flight not having any IFE, but not having a seat in front of me kind of made it hard to remember!
Frankly what matters more than any of these points is reliability and delta is head and shoulders above the other two for on-time service. I stopped flying with United domestic after too many times being burned by delays caused by greedy planning. Internationally they are fine although the crews are sometimes not the most polite
Just like that, both SFO and ATL have dedicated international terminals for all international flights. One is the largest United hub and the other is a large Delta hub. One more thing to note is that Delta at LGA operates out of D Gates - D as in Delta. While onboard Delta's aircraft, the only ones that don't have IFE are Boeing 717, EMB 170/175, and all Bombardier regional aircraft
the middle seat thing on delta to me doesn’t really matter. it doesn’t make you exempt from getting covid. and most of the time people don’t select the middle seat on full flights, it’s standby that gets there. that whole middle seat thing is phycological.
I love your channel and your reviews. Finally someone who's amazingly honest with a sense of humor to lighten the heaviness of the brutal truth. Thanks a million! We need more of Nonstop Dan!
I flew a red eye on both American and delta, on delta I flew from Portland to Atlanta, on American, I flew Portland to Charlotte. Both in economy. Delta had a new 737 with Ife screens and mood lighting and free blankets which made the flight nice and comfortable. On American, I flew on an aging a321 where there was No mood lighting, no Ife screens, the seat recline was barely noticeable, and I got no sleep. all I have to say Is that American and us air were both perfectly fine before they merged. I used to fly us air all the time because I live in North Carolina and they were so much better than modern American. And I heard the same went for old American.
I enjoy Delta's customer service in the sky and in their lounges but gate/ticketing staff can be a mixed bag. It's why I no longer fly them exclusively and will likely be using my Chase card more often instead of my Amex.
Omg the dreaded no window seat…… I was rebooked on a BA A319 from LHR to DUB after our flight from IAD was delayed. I asked for a window seat, I was given 19F. I should have just ended it there. But no, I took a gamble and I lost big time. You see, I’m blind in my right eye, I prefer the left side of the plane. So I asked if any left side seats were open, she said it’s the last row and I was like okay whatever. Seat 25A……NO WINDOW 🤬
American out of anywhere *but* Charlotte tends to be pretty good. A321 transcon from CLT - LAX with no power, no IFE, no wi-fi, just fly frontier at that point lol
I hold no love for them, especially United. Did manage to exploit my Sas silver status with them. But they kept me on the ground for 5 hours at SFO with nothing to say and they would not even fork over a decent offer for taking a later flight between SEA-ORD so, i take them into consideration and switch to Jetblue or Southwest. If i had to pick from big 3 American
Nah, it was called for. Sometimes you gotta fight fire with fire. I know that staff is put under a lot of pressure, but still wasn't a great way to say "hey can you please wait until you're called?" Plus it's New York so that was probably considered a normal conversation.

Alaska's early or on-time arrivals are outstanding as long as you fly earlier in the day. The later in the day seems the flights depart and arrive later and later.
I used to fly with American and JetBlue and I would say JetBlue is the best airline in America in term of economy class
Damn Dan really roasted the Delta check in agent
Some points to note:
1) Colton was not able to check in online because United's basic economy tickets requires that an agent check the personal item bag dimensions prior to issuing the boarding pass. Honestly though, it just seems like a discouraging move to prevent people from booking basic economy
2) Not sure why Colton did not mention the second AA aircraft did not have IFE, however, it was a ex-US Airways legacy aircraft.
Was glad when they moved the 717 out of MSP.
@@arronmeyer-razon2228 who even wants to ride a worn-out 717 for a transcontinental flight in the US
I’m Delta and United. Historically AA had the most airplane crashes. I don’t care how bad the seats are if you can’t get to your destination alive .
Man, I haven't seen your videos in at least 10 years! So good to see how you've blown up! Congratulations man.
Wow, so good to hear from you Jack! Thank you! 2010/2011 - what a time on avgeek UA-cam🙌
I flew United and delta last summer (domestically) and I had a good experience on both. Neither was blocking off the middle seat.
United does has leg room, however it takes fault from the certain aircrafts.
Great video guys, thanks!
do lufthansa next
the middle seat thing on delta to me doesn’t really matter. it doesn’t make you exempt from getting covid. and most of the time people don’t select the middle seat on full flights, it’s standby that gets there. that whole middle seat thing is phycological.
in my experience i have had the best crews from united, the best seats on delta, and the best ife and on the ground experience on american
I guess that is a perk sitting in the back row. 3 second service

Glad to see this back! I would love to see Economy Week comparing three mainline European airlines. KLM, BA, Lufthansa would make an interesting one!
Southwest wins my business every time
I’m a FA for one of these legacy Carriers and I have to say your videos are the best.
American out of anywhere *but* Charlotte tends to be pretty good.
A321 transcon from CLT - LAX with no power, no IFE, no wi-fi, just fly frontier at that point lol
I’m partial to Jet Blue and American. I plan to go to Europe 2024 so I can expand my experience.
If i had to pick from big 3
American
American Airlines is a fine airline, and I’d say it’s worth the cheaper price.
That anecdote ''Oh I'm so sorry, I could fly another airline today'' is excactly why they speak to passengers the way they do...
Nah, it was called for. Sometimes you gotta fight fire with fire. I know that staff is put under a lot of pressure, but still wasn't a great way to say "hey can you please wait until you're called?" Plus it's New York so that was probably considered a normal conversation.
Very insightful and helpful
