Hi I Just purchaed the Hercules 500 and I am using VDJ 2023 with Pro License. This is Plug and Play and is working well. VDJ has a hardware manual for this controller si I am starting to get familiar with the mapping of the controller with VDJ. I am just now getting some practice with the controller and the FX portions and the Pads mapping. It does take a while to get familiar with the pads and the mapping, especially with using the shift key to change the pads functionality. For Example, changing the Loop Roll using Shift to change to Effects on the pads. Its pretty cool. I would love to see someone put out a video showing how to maximize this controller using VDJ and all the extra functionality that VDJ provides including the sampler, the Effects and some custom keys. I am experimenting as I go and hope to get it all figured out soon. The Controller is awesome! FYI, I only have less than 10 hours of practice but starting to figure everything out. Lots of features on theis controller and seems to work well with VDJ! I feel like I am only scratching the surface of its functionality.

@@Jo_Druid Hi. Again I only have a few hours experience with it but it does seem to have around 90Percent comparability. There is still a lot to test. There is mapping info on the VDJ website. Check out under hardware manuals. Good luck.
Just to add. I am not a EDM DJ. I do parties, weddings etc. So my experience may not be equal to other DJs. For the types of Dance music I play it works well. I can add effects, transitions etc
I am not a scratch DJ. But learning.
Have you figured out how to use the 4 fx buttons yet?

@@DjMartiniMidwest Works great with VDJ 2023. Mapping is great. VDJ has a good manual which shows the mapping but would be nice to see more hands on use with VDJ video with actual use and setup.. Has so many features and options with effects, sampler etc. Good job but less talk and more hands on instruction would be great!
Think Pad for DJing... My kind of brother 😂... Same set up I ve Hercules 500 + ThinkPad... Two battletanks and VDJ... Same again 💪

I am a new subscriber love the video. I could use a little help with the installation of let’s say my monitors what is the correct way to hook them up as I noticed I am not able to use my headphones the way they are supposed to be used I hear everything first controller second controller all through the headphones unable to use them quite the way they’re supposed to be used to bring in your next track

I started with Serato and made the switch to VDJ now I’m using VDJ 2021.. I have the same controller.

@@DjMartiniMidwest same here, but virtual dj to me is the #1 software for DJ, no matter if you are a club DJ, Wedding DJ, Private Parties or even Bar Room DJ. Virtual DJ keeps expanding their horizon with all their updates and I love it..

I don’t do to much UA-cam videos but I have a ton of videos I have to go through from my recent gigs.. I did 7 weddings in the last 3 weekends and have 2 more this weekend plus a Car Show too..
Just curious in a first look are you running RCA to your laptop from the back to the controller ? Also do you think three-quarter is a better option for monitors ?

The negative I have with it also is if you place your laptop in sleep mode and reopen it up you have to disconnect and reconnect the controller

I'm doing my best to get ready to make a go at being a dj. So far, I got two proreck 6000 speaker set ups, this inpulse 500, a 6 channel mixer, a laser projector, and I have various other lights. Any tips on gear I should look into would be appreciated.
Thanks for watching and your feedback. It Sounds like you have a good start for equipment. (I Like your choices so far) My current suggestions is to continue getting very familiar with setting up your equipment. Also keep practicing with the entire set up including your laptop / dj software. Also think about take down , transport, and maybe some back up cables . Some of my original UA-cam videos i talked about some mobile dj item thoughts .. extra items to consider ? Hopefully you might find something helpful ideas … (Just my thoughts and opinions) Thanks.

@@DjMartiniMidwest I hope you don't mind if I ask newbie questions. Do you ever find a need to bring a portable generator to (small) venues to make sure you don't overload available circuits? If so, what size would you recommend? I'm not too sure how much of a draw my equipment is. Do you run into an issue where you pop a circuit breaker? Am I overthinking this?
I don’t have speakers and mix only using headphones, I wanna record a mix but theres a delay/echo when I’m trying to get a track ready using headphone cue buttons. They have worked tho at times with a slight echo but most times it’s a pretty bad lag. Any ideas?

@@brickowens2662 This a good question… I would like to test it out ? unfortunately I do not have my 500 anymore . my only suggestion is check the record output routed in laptop sources / options sounds like a source output issue. Also Might ask around the forums.. community.hercules.com

Does the beat.matching lights on the 500 work with VDJ?
I don’t believe the beat matching lights work on VDJ. But probably could be mapped . Unfortunately I’m not great a midi mapping. Thanks .
Brought this controller 4 months ago Love it. All of a sudden the only way to get sound out of it is something I thought impossible. One Rca plug has to go in the 'in aux' port and the other Rca has to go in the 'master out port! how? why? I been researching for 2 weeks no answers. I dont understand. If u understand feel free to answer. Thanx in advance
Thanks for watching and sharing. The Aux is weird to me ? But the Master out should be out the speakers . And computer settings could affect some output. But aux should be input only ? All can say is double check computer & software input & output settings . Thanks .
You may have to return it I’ve no problem with it doing that I’ve actually hooked a mixer up to it to get better sound out of it

The Hercules 500 does work with Virtual Dj software plug & play. You will need the controller license or the full version of virtual Dj thou . Thanks.

Thanks for watching and your question. The Hercules 500 works as simple as plug a play with VDJ….but you have to have the full VDJ software or purchase the license for the controller. Or it will only work for like 20 minutes. Thanks
Just plug it in and VDJ Recognies the device and sets your audio Card and controller, if you have a PRo License. If You do not have a Pro License you can purchae a Home License for this controller for about $100. VDJ has an on line manual for this controller which explains all the mapping and functionality. Its a pretty cool controller with tons of functionality, Many efects included and you can customize the mapping to integrate effects and samples. Its pretty much Plug and Play but you can customie it also!
