I have so much admiration for the way she calls out all the trashbag celebrities promoting detox teas and appetite suppressant candies.
what gets me is how "eat this and you'll be healthy" has become a bizarre superstition.
i ended up disabled a long while back and i started having to totally reframe what "health" was because it immediately excluded me from "People who think food/starving can make them healthy" which is a very weird place to be when that is the standard use of the word health now, so much advertising says that explicitly. No amount of yogurt, tea and candies can make a disabled person "healthy," that much is obvious. But it'll keep everyone else healthy? hmm ok
There are appetite suppressant candies? I need some of those.
They must use them. They have to stay so skinny.
@@vamanosninja4143 They don't have to. Most of them have so much influence that if they chose to be progressive it would be appreciated not disparaged. It would let young vulnerable kids watching them think that they look good just the way they are.

When I was in high school, one of my friends (ex friend now) would put a scale outside of the front door at his house parties. At first it was really funny, when no one was getting hurt. That was until a few heavier girls showed up, it was messed up.

As someone who struggles with weight, these instagram “influencers” almost got me an eating disorder. For a whole, I decided to purge after I eat and if my mom hadn’t caught me, I’d be really sick by now. These celebrities are not selling products, they’re selling insecurities.
Just unfollowed the people that post that stuff

We spend to much time idolizing others and not working on us and I’m not saying it’s easy but the same energy you put into Instagram can be for yourself
Nelly Uchiha That’s the thing, it’s hard to find self-love when social media is telling you who you are isn’t enough. It’s hard to love yourself when there are these influencers telling you to take these supplements. A lot of teenagers and kids think the meaning of self-love is becoming their favourite celebrity or influencer.
I get where you’re coming from, I’ve come a long way from depression, anxiety and almost having an eating disorder. I’ve come to love myself but it’s not an easy journey. Social media is making that journey harder.
We humans are social animals and it’s hardwired in our brains to seek validation from other people. It takes a while to break away from that.

Jameela has EDS and part of that is intense fatigue and pain and medication you're not meant to drink on so I'm not surprised by her saying she's a homebody. She manages to do amazing things whilst sufferering from EDS and Hashimoto's so I have nothing but respect for her and on top of all that she's got her I Weigh movement etc. Absolute queen!

That’s actually really awesome! When I was younger all I saw were surgery adds pops up and diet tips because as a teen I used to look these things up and then I was bombarded with adverts and posts about it which made me feel worse about myself. This is a truly positive movement I can get behind!
