People cant get over the mindset of the simplicity of the Tennessee grip. I have fished the "ghetto black electrical tape setup " on my spinning rods since the 80s and there is no substitute for the comfort and simplicity of the setup. Some people are so worried about being made fun of by another angler on the boat it seems. My boat deck wears 2 of drews rods 2 charliebrewer rods and a vintage kunan all with Tennessee grips and electrical tape. The fun starts when you start pulling the fish in while mr fancy rod is in the back of the boat with his shiny real seat wonder getting smoked More than one local youngster I have taken fishing has seen and made fun of my ghetto rods only to regret it after netting some of my big fish. This rod is starting to become a favorite to the other Tennessee rods I have it's unbelievably sensitive and so darn lite with a 2000 tatula reel. The other day I "accidentally "caught an 11 pound walleye on a 1/8 oz. Jig and 8 pound p line what a battle but the rod did its job like a champ.
Drew's 100 percent right. Putting reel directly to the rod makes it very sensitive. That is a great rod and would be great for crappie. I do wish they offered them a little longer. He knows what he's talking about.
I don't understand. It's directly to the CORK. Pretty much all of my finesse rods seat directly to the BLANK, which has always been sold to me as the ultimate in sensitivity. How does seating to cork add to it?
I will be getting me one for sure like how you can adjust reel up or down on cork for balance need to have some cool real wraps out to zman different colors and so on great job zman should be a hit 👍
I think that drew knows what he’s talking about. The man has been fishing almost his whole life. I don’t mind that there’s no reel seat, as I think the electrical tape to hold the reel on is bad ass. Fish on.
Thanks, Drew. I wish you talked more about the rod blank, but I suppose that will be mentioned on the Z-Man site. I am considering getting one. 40 plus years ago, I had a Billy Westmorland Lite Line Special rod, which was in the Bass Pro Shops line. It got stolen. It was only fiberglass, cost around $29.95, and 5 feet or a little longer. It featured the Tennessee handle, but did come with 2 rings to help secure the reel. The cork grip was a little different from other grips, in that it had a slightly larger diameter. For those people with larger hands this increased diameter is very welcome, much like the trademarked Power Hump handle found on some Bass Pro Shops rods.
Well, BnM Crappie poles makes one , or did make one ,if they haven't discontinued it !! They called theirs with no reel seat, a TENNESSEE HANDLE . It did have 2 Brass Rings around the Full Cork Handle to put over each side of the reel T , but you still needed to tape it down to secure it on the rod handle !!
Hey are you still fishing on lake of the woods I would love to come up and do a trip with you I have been to the Quetico several times don’t know if you would be interested but i would compensate you???
No disrespect for this gentleman, but there are way more options that are less expensive and you don’t have to hunt down the electrical tape to tape you reel to the rod.
Mad props to this angler for a lifetime of fishing commitment and success. ZMan, I think you cost yourself a lot of sales with the absence of a reel seat.
No reel seat means you can play with where exactly you need to mount your reel to be balanced perfectly. This rod is a win and will be added to the arsenal fosho!
@@comfortablynumb9342 people knock ugly stiks and I really don’t understand why. They are great rods and they are very affordable and tough. Plenty sensitive like you said too!
Love your product very sensitive ..l love a good Tennessee handle rod.and being older l admire your still plugging the lake but let's come clean here you stopped a little short in mentioning charlie brewer the real father of finesse fishing and the inventor of the Tennessee handle spinning short rod technique. You were alive and well in the 80s for the do nothing Era. You mentioned there were no short rods available . Charlie brewer has been selling them for years. Sorry not trying to be a jerk but l have been using Charlie brewers sliders and grubs for years and just think he should be mentioned that's all Joe z
Kinda crap,go check out Japanese rods, folks. I won’t put electrical tape to my Stella, also wasting expensive thin braid with that no inserts rings. Garbage
76 and still fishing!! Love it. Inspiring my friend 👍 Can’t wait

I love the old Tennessee handle rods. I had eight of them from St Croix until someone stole them. The balance in your hands is great. Very sensitive.
It’s a slider rod, Charlie brewer has been putting these out for over 50 years, they still sell them for 50 bucks. I have 6.
I just got one of the Charlie Brewer rods and it’s a great rod!
Can you imagine the looks you would get at the ramp with a reel taped onto the handle? Just smile and walk on by.
love finesse rods, can't wait!

Wow, what a great video. I cannot wait for the release of Drew's Ultimate Ned Rig Rods. I guess I can take one to Canada with me, this year.
Hell yeah brotha
good video.
Awesome Stuff guys 🫡
Here’s a little tip for this rod. Don’t use black electrical tape. It leaves a nasty mess behind. Any of the other colors won’t do that on ya.
I'll be ordering a few, looking forward to trying it.
Can’t wait to get one of these!
5:10 video for a 5'10" rod?
I admire this man. A little spendy for throwing some ned rigs. I mean i'd love to try one but man thats a steep price.
The rod is 5'4 and 5'10. I would hope it balances well.

Yep, that’s what they’re called. He mentions it in this video.
What size reel do you recommend for that 5 10 rod
What model and size reel is being used to balance the rod?
I want this rod!!!
Hey are you still fishing on lake of the woods I would love to come up and do a trip with you I have been to the Quetico several times don’t know if you would be interested but i would compensate you???
Sensitive rod probably
What model and size reel do you use on it?
What reel and size does Drew recommend to pair with the rod?
He recommends daiwa tatula lt 2000 size
If you offer it in a 7 foot I'll buy it.
What reel is that
What a coincidence 😮
How much is this rod? What reel is that?
Roda are $170-$180
It's a Daiwa 2000 size
How can I get one
No disrespect for this gentleman, but there are way more options that are less expensive and you don’t have to hunt down the electrical tape to tape you reel to the rod.
I keep electrical tape in my tackle bags you never know
This is a high end blank bro
Mad props to this angler for a lifetime of fishing commitment and success.
ZMan, I think you cost yourself a lot of sales with the absence of a reel seat.
I'm all in. I have a bunch of electrical tape 😂
It's for the sensitivity you get more feelings from the bite lite that it comes from crappie guys 🤷♂️
@@nicolaschampagnecharbonnea8479more for balance.

I like the concept and the story but I have become too attached to reel seats to start wrapping my rods with tape. It will be a pass for me.
Short blanks, no reel seat, no ceramics in the guides but retailing for $170-180? Doesn't make much sense to me.
The blanks are on par with $400+ rods, not a bad value if you want the lightest rod on the market today
If it doesn’t have a reel seat I don’t see the use but the stainless guides are honestly pretty good
I'm down 😂
I'll use my small Ugly Stiks. They're plenty light, sensitive and tough.

If I caught 3000 small mouth a year I would buy that rod. 🤣😂🤣

I’m going to try these fishing rods out…I’m stuck on the diawa tatula XT light fast rod….

Pass, sorry but no reel seat equals no go for me.
No reel seat sucks.
Who ever heard of a modern rod without a reel seat. I’ll pass
zman has officially lost it 💀
