I own one of these and and would not trade it for anything else! By the way the 2007 has not had any recalls.Took all the rear seats out and use it as a pick up , 4x8 plywood fits inside.
I own a 2006 Saturn Relay, basically the same thing just a little nicer appointed. It's not a bad van. I have owned all 3 of the big three kiddo haulers and while I can see why GM failed the minivan market, it's super reliable. I bought mine with just 87k, I now got 113k and all Ive had to do was change oil and a new battery. Even the new battery wasn't technically necessary. It just was under rated for the application and with harsh winters you want a good battery. DVD, heated leather seats, it's not a bad van. These do eventually rust up here in the snow belt, but not nearly as quick as a Chrysler product. I've owned three town and country minivans and all started rusting by 120k. The only arguably more reliable that we've owned was the Freestar and that was after a ECU swap at 105k. Not cheap. But the Saturn has to be one of the most underpowered vans we've owned. It's clearly a slug even with new plugs, wires and filter. I've even decarboned and cleaned the throttle body and it's still not nearly as nimble or responsive as the Ford or Chrysler with Honda burning rubber in circles around it. The 3900 v6 in later models is a much better powerplant compared. Still the 3500 is a smooth, forgiving and reliable solution. My only other complaint with these vans is they are narrow, very narrow and thus seating isn't very comfortable. I am 6'2 and maybe 200lbs on a good day and for short trips the heated leather seats are a joy, but long trips do these seats missing lumbar support start showing their obvious weaknesses. My wife is shorter and slightly more wider then myself and she can never find a comfortable driving position. What's almost as worse, seats don't fold down in to the floor. So while with the optional storage bin you can technically fold them flat, it's a less then ideal situation. We camp a lot and so we take our tent and camping tote with us. To fit everything and still be able to see out our rear window we must remove the bins and seats. Not very convenient or flexable. Every other van model we've been able to fit all of our camping gear and still have the seats and still see out our back window. Did I mention the performance is a slug? Filled with our camping gear, child and entertainment tidbits the 3500 v6 really shows it's weaknesses.
