It is a revelation, watching a real mechanic diagnosed the problem, unlike our local mechanics, who just throw parts at the problem, hoping to fix it by accident.
I've met some of those guys. I always tell them, I pay for repairs, not guesses. I've stood by my word all these years. I'll keep bringing it back until it's really fixed and will refuse to pay for the same problem twice. I don't care what it costs, but it better be right when I pay.
Hey Dude, you are doing phenomenon, unlike other UA-camr mechanics that bore you to the point that you just stop watching, you get to the point fast and show just enough and make your videos short but full of contents.way to go. Good luck, can’t wait for your next episode
Why do so many car owners fail to give their vehicles even the slightest tlc. Who'd have thought that a sliding mechanism might require a little lubrication. Refreshing to see someone catch up with people's lack of preventative maintenance instead of firing the "parts cannon". Nice one Mike.
To most people that aren't us weird car enthusiasts a car is just a tool to get to place to place and holds no real place of sentiment to the individual. Also maintenance to most is "if it's not broken or left me stranded it's fine" preventative maintenance is a hard pill to swallow for many as things are not "technically broken"
I hope this is not why he left the Wizard shop....I don't like how Wizard never misses a chance to tell us ''another shop wanted to replace everything or could not fix the issue''...That's strange and I don't like this ''bashing on everybody'' attitude. And I find the Wizard shop is always filled with the same cars...Not a big turnaround....
a good tip to all technicians of any discipline , always start with the simplest most obvious thing (in this case was a switch for one of the doors) and work your way up.
my family had one of these when i was younger. very reliable, aside from oil leakages the thing was a trooper. they sold it in 2016, but i'm sure it could've gone on much longer
This is one of the few channels that I don't skip ads on! Keep up the good work. I do agree that you need some more lighting. LED fixtures are pretty cheap and bright 😎
My override switch got bumped as well. It's such a simple issue! No need to take it to a mechanic to have them look at all the wires 😅 I found the problem completely by accident
FYI, GM recalled these awhile ago for issues with the sliding doors. Not sure if this one is affected, or if it has been repaired, but I know they were recalled. (I had one of these growing up and remember the recall)
The problem with these vans (Pontiac Montana, Buick Terraza, Chevrolet Uplander and Saturn Relay) are the power sliding doors opening while you are driving and the warning chimes sounding incessantly. I am in the process of removing both cables and disconnecting both motors as well as fuse #21 on my 2007 Terraza CXL. Maybe I should pull the dual green fuses as well.
My Dad must have bumped his window lock switch. Was complaining to me the passenger window wouldn't work. I spotted the lock switch immediately...the dealer hadn't...or had they!
@Magic Mike the Mechanic, hey! Nice to see you making some fixes. You know, that driver's side rear door sounded awful and it's clearly pretty dusty so I wondered if you recommend a lithium type lubricant which is much "thicker" or find that "thinner" lubricant like WD-40 is best? It seems as if a "thinner" lube would be better because you can more easily flush out dirt that might get attracted to it but then it wouldn't be as long-lasting. That passenger sliding door, as soon as you pressed the switch & nothing happened, I thought, "Is the switch/motor bad or has the automatic function been disabled?" I have a different van but it has the same options to disable the automatic sliding doors just as it has the option to prevent other passengers from operating the electric windows. Hope you and the puppy are doing well!
I bet learning about that lockout made you wish you tried it first. Reminds me of that time I was about to reinstall Windows to get a Wi-Fi card working because I tried multiple drivers and settings. I knew about ways to turn it off and I tried the keyboard shortcut. Didn't consider the possibility that there could be a shortcut *as well as* a toggle switch.
I was considering getting a Chevy Uplander one day. Would I be nuts to trade in my 2001 Chevy Tahoe for one? I just subscribed. Thank you for posting MM! I'm not too magical, but this is Mike in Oregon
Keep in mind that a Tahoe is a real “truck” and the Uplander is quite car like. My son in law has a Tahoe but he is able to fix it himself and doesn’t care about fuel consumption. I believe you’d save on gas with the Uplander but I suspect the Tahoe would be more reliable. Based on the V8 in the Tahoe and weight vs the V6 in the Uplander.
I own the same vehicle (but the 2006 Saturn version), even in the same color, with 215,000 miles. No door or glove box problems and no other problems of its own during a 7 year lifespan. The vehicle has been wonderful. However, mice have infested the overhead console, with mice droppings and urine spilling out. Horrible. A mechanic cleaned it out, but the mice droppings recurred. Anyone know how to prevent mice from infiltrating the overhead console?

He learned from the Wizard

Wizard definitely set the bar high for mechanics. He definitely trained mechanical investigators.

It is truly a joy to watch you apply deductive reasoning to solve problems. You renew my faith in the human brain! Simply superb!

An honest mechanic. Good show. Dealer would have charged for a new motor on passenger side, then flip the switch on the overhead console. lol

Learning has occurred. Always check the owners manual / you tube to make sure the lockout switch has not been pressed.

Great job!!! Hey.. like your kicks as well! 😊
Thanks for this... so often the fix is simple but you still need to go through the process,,, Great video!
congrats and best wishes on the new endeavor

Helpful fix!

Hey Mike. Good video. Please use more lighting and focus on work done. Thank you.
Sad to see you leave omega, niceto see you start something of your own.
My override switch got bumped as well. It's such a simple issue! No need to take it to a mechanic to have them look at all the wires 😅 I found the problem completely by accident
Great content, good to see your channel growing.
Thankyou , I learned all about the mechanisms and especially the switch 😁
obviously you seen the writing on the wall. wish you much success.and good musician.
Your channel is growing fast. The owner might not have been aware of the deactivate switch.
Awesome video showing an honest mechanic at work!
Nice video, short and to the point.
Great video, Mike!! Love the thorough walk through of the diag procedure. Nice work!
Got to love the door design when working. Curious are they prone to rattling?
I'm buying one of these to car camp in, to start my rocky mountain adventures.
Make sure use a dry silicone or similar lube so it doesn’t attract more dirt again obviously 😉👍🏻
Good stuff!
Congrats Mike! I hope the channel keeps growing.
Keep it up Magic Mike. Enjoy your presentation and work.
Great job diagnosing both issues!!
Nice work and very informative.

another great video - I hope all going well
Great video Mike!
I thought for a second you were going to use Windex on that seized bearing 😂😂 (Think … My Big Fat Greek Wedding 😅). Great video Mike. 👏👏👏
Love your channel
Great video as always. Thank you for taking the time to go through your process. Looking forward toward your next vlog.
You were very helpful, Thank you
👍❤️👍that switch on the rightside door could have been on just rolled in!😊
First comment! Hi Mike!
Good job Mike, keep them coming
I would try a little lithium grease on the hinges before I took it to a shop.
Doing a great job with your new channel and doing great on your own . Best of luck with everything. Plus hes very easy on the eyes just saying lol .
Who would've thought a little lubrication could help free up a 'squeaky wheel' and help it to work better.

WD-40 is not a lubricant. WD stands for water displacement.
@@bigdugincit has lubricants in it, just not much.
Thanks buddy for the great video
Just a little TLC can go a long way.
Great video
Video approved, click.

cool video
Its easy when you know how it works. Note to self - sliding doors are not such a good idea if you drive on dusty roads.
Great job Mr Magic👍 I have 1 question we’re you wearing long shorts or do you have short legs🤣🤣
Parts are money. Diagnosis is cheap. Great technician takes care of his clients. They will return as happy.
🙂👍🏻
maybe you should use Dry-lube for doors like these as PTFE does not attract dust.

Nice 1 MM
Chevrolets last ditch effort to market a mini van with a suv nose, then gave up altogether on the mini van market.
If all else fails, read the instructions!
She couldn't get to the instructions as the glove box handle was broken...
Couldn't read the manual because of the glove box handle.

Where is the pup?
I have 280k on mine...it runs 😅 thats about it
Error between ears :) so many switches and owners refuse to read the manual and wonder why things don't work...
mike needs a lift!
