    As someone pointed out, having an old fashioned dipstick is a must for this! Getting mine soon!

    I don't like using pumps to extract the oil, IME they are no less messy and are less effective than the normal method of draining via the sump. Your mileage may vary of course.
    Also, it is worth getting a measuring jug to measure the correct amount of oil.

    Hi 👋 great videos 📹
    I recently changed mine using vida diagnostics to get the correct oil level . Setting the oil level at 70 percent when the temperature of oil vida stated to get the oil temperature as close as possible to 90 degrees. This gives the optimum level and prevents any engine oil service Warnings ⚠️ occurring .
    Great method that you have shown though 👏 if you don't have vida .
    Well worth investing in vida though great bit of kit 👌.

    You can also use a C3 oil, instead of A5/B5. That's just an economy spec. C3 is better for the DPF not getting clogged

    Worth mentioning... It depends on the sump design whether the extractor is a good or not so good idea - on some engines (the PSA 1.6D 16v in some Volvo's is one of these) the extractor method is specifically not recommended because it won't get everything out.
    Now maybe you could argue that changing more regularly than service intervals strictly demand makes this less of an issue, but I'd probably be thinking it's worth changing the traditional way every other charge all the same...

    Accessing the oil filer housing is harder on my 3.2 L six cylinder. You have to move the power steering reservoir out of the way. Then you have to wiggle the oil filter housing between the engine and radiator.

    Hi! I have a volvo s80 2.4d 2009 and i would like to ask you if i want to change the oil from 0w 30w to 5w 30w is this ok for the car or to keep it with 0w30w.?? Thank you very much.

      hi igor, I personally use 0w30 but I do know people who use 5w30! It depends on your climate, if you live in a cold climate then I would recommend 0w30 :)

    Hi again.Bust wondered if you’d ever looked into VIDA software? There seemed to be partly functional copies out there which do the diagnostic reporting without you being able to edit any major settings. Seems interesting ???

    Just one more point please: I have looked at the Sealey models and, as usual, there are multiple choices which all seem to do the same thing. The main question I would like to ask is could you tell me the model number/probe size of your kit as there are, for example, the Sealey S01169 (at £50) with 4, 6 and 8mm probes and then the Sealey TP69.V3 (at £109!) with 5.8mm and 6.7mm probes. It would be a big help if you could advise. Many thanks again for all your videos.

    Curiously, my dipstick is spot on but l still get an error 96 code with oil level 🧐

    • @drivelife.channel
      @drivelife.channel  3 роки тому

      Unfortunately the dipstick and the electronic system are calibrated differently so a full on the dipstick will be over full on the car system 😕

    • @endurocrosser8834
      @endurocrosser8834 3 роки тому

      When the physical dipstick is at the middle level ,the electronic will show full.
      This is because in the past the oil quantity to show full on dipstick was near to 6.5 L .
      After volvo experienced the dpf regen oil increase levels,the set the correct max oil to 5.5L,and that means half on dip stick level and came up to recalls for software upgrade to show oil level on dim display.
      Owners were encouraged to check only electrinic dipstick,cause some of them when seeing near to min on dipstick (which is normal)
      ,topped up the level to full so oil will spill cause of extra pressure.
      So,Volvo recomands somewere between min and a half on dipstick.
