The Poly has always been my favorite resort at Disney - since I was a kid. We have a lot of family in Hawaii, and the Poly just seemed like a little piece of paradise over here. The luau show was a little hokey, but a lot of fun. It was unfortunate when they put in the overwater bungalows and destroyed the view for many rooms, but it was the destruction of the luau cove and building that awful skyscraper monstrosity and calling it "Polynesian" that ruined the resort. Every time I see it, it is just uglier and uglier - a huge eyesore on the horizon. We are planning a day trip in December after the thing opens just to test out our theory that the crowds added will swamp any last semblance of peace and quiet at what was once our favorite resort.
Miss the old lobby. But poly is always my favorite. 😊
It really is a special resort
We stayed here a couple times. You can feel the history
Polynesian is the best!
You used to be able to swim and water ski in the lagoon....miss doing that!
That must have been wild. I hope that water was really clean!

Can't wait to see what it's like when construction is done! The original really is a beautiful resort.
The Poly has become a dump
Can't wait to see what it's like when the Tower actually opens. Hopefully the Monorail can handle it.
