    Nice how to video. Constructive criticism: it's a switch, not a relay. The title of the video is right though.

    Good info, most people would rather spend 200$. We live in a throw away world now.

    Can y'all like fix shit instead of replacing parts? These videos are so disappointing anymore. No one knows how to fix shit anymore. They just replace replace replace.

    To connect the 2 wires from new fan light switch to the fan/ceiling, it doesn't matter which wire goes to which?!?! (my light switch chain won't move at all, broken?)

    • @FIXMYHOMEShawn
      @FIXMYHOMEShawn  4 роки тому +1

      Yes it is broken and You need to replced the relay .

    The fan switch I bought doesnt have the wire. I have to stab it. I had a blue and black wire. The old swich doesnt have numbers saying where which wire goes where. Guess I will put Black wire in L 1 and blue wire in L 2?? Plus im working with stranded wire. Hopefully the stranded wire will stay in if not guess I have to make jumpers with solid wire. I have 12 years electeical experience but cant honestly say Ive changed out a ceiling fan light switch. Hopefully all goes well. If not I will return to lowes and get the one with the wires already in it. Good video. Wish me luck!!

    The light has a pull chain, and the fan has a pull chain. Do they share the same switch compartment?

    Don't replace it... spray WD-40 up into the switch

    • @silkytp789

      If the plastic of the switch is broken instead of just stuck, WD-40 won't help. Learned this from experience, sadly.

      @@frankpeck1448 WD stands for Water Displacement. WD40 was developed for military vehicles because they get wet. With the old distributor caps and spark plug wires, water was a constant concern. WD 40 was designed to repel moisture because it's a hydrophobic lubricant. Bit of trivia for ya...
