So I usually will take off my makeup with micelles water and than oil cleanse, which I do for about 10-15 min. It’s a super long time, I know so I usually do it while watching tv. I usually get a TON of oil plugs where my pores or the largest and around my nose. It is the best feeling ever. Labeautyologist is AMAZING she gives you so many facts on why and how the skin works and I just love her! Thank you so much for giving her credit and introducing more people to her.
I tried it and it worked!!! I have oily dehydrated skin and the Sebaceous filaments are always bumpy unless is use a physical or chemical scrub. NEVER AFTER a normal quick wash or double cleanse. LADIES AND GENTS! My skin feels sooooo smooth and I have hormonal acne. It’s still there but you can’t even feel it. My skin feels amazing and for the first time ever all my products sink into my skin within seconds! I didn’t exfoliate just massaged my face with my oil and I have baby smooth skin! Thank you so much James!!!
From someone who used to do this: Please be careful if you have sensitive skin, be careful with motion you're using, and be careful with how long & how often you're doing it. It can be really irritating for your skin. But it does work wonders! So I used to do this several years ago, around 2013-2014. That was my first time discovering that you can cleanse your face using oil and I tried it because my skin was so bad at the time. I found a video on UA-cam from someone whose name I can't remember, in which she explained about what "oil pulling" is. In the video she recommended several type of oil and based on her recommendation, I used VOO mixed with grapeseed oil. When I started doing this, I did find a lot of oil plug and it's really satisfying to do. The thing is, I started doing too often and it irritated my skin. I went from doing it once every two weeks to once every two-three days. It does help me clearing up my skin (among other things that I did) though. I ended up learning about how even though it's cleansing using oil, you can still strip your skin if you're not careful.
@@jenniferlopez5855 Oh no, that's not good. What kind of oil/balm are you using? I think one of the reason why the motion and pressure of your fingers are important when doing this is because the more you rub, the grittier it becomes (since you'll get some kind of oil "plugs" out) so after a while it kinda feels like you're using scrub on your face. By the way, I hope your skin will return to normal soon!!
This is pretty cool! I definitely oil cleanse for a few minutes, although not quite 15minutes, and it works soooo well!!! I remember the first time I double cleansed, I was so shook because all of the sebaceous filaments on and around my nose came to the surface and shot out like I was pushing cheese through a strainer 😂😂😂 I recorded it and showed it to my sister and she was like no way!! 😆 Since then, I've done it religiously, regardless of if I wore sunscreen (I don't wear makeup aside from lipstick), and it has made my skin so soft and smooth, and gotten rid of some tricky acne 😊😊😊
@@taylorpalmer894 Yep! Basically! Although, they added in a step of using a cleansing balm first, removing it, and then following up with a cleansing oil. I think the balm is more like a pre- oil cleanse, so that the cleansing oil can really just focus on your actual skin and pores? In my experience, cleansing oils provide more slip against the skin and last longer on the skin than balms do (as James also mentioned), so I think it makes a lot of sense! :)
@@camillekartchner Nope! I just use my cleansing oil :) But after watching this, I am curious to see what would happen if I use a cleansing balm before my cleansing oil! 🤔🤔🤔
YES - feeling the plugs coming off on your fingers is so satisfying. I find that I get the most plugs around my jaw and toward the back of my cheeks (the contour area) after massaging the DHA oil for like 5 minutes.
I saw the same video and JUST started using cleansing oil and tonight I tried the process and got at least one maybe two up.. that is so amazing! Plus the circulation from the massage makes my skin feel wonderful!!
Yay, I was been binging her videos last night...she also said in her video sometimes it's the 3rd or 4th time, if not the first time. It's still also good for a facial massage...lymphatic drainage & anti-aging.
I've just done my oil cleanse for like 20 minutes and omg my skin looks fucking beautiful. I didn't really see any oil plugs but my nose was covered in sebaceous filaments before I did it and now it is not. I am absolutely shook. Thank you so much for introducing me to this, I watched the original video too because she needs those views for this amazing technique.
Going back further: This is actually from a routine/method created by a woman named Jude Chao who goes by 50 Shades of Snail online. She has a ton of fantastic blog posts and is very popular on the Asian Beauty reddit community which discusses all things Asian skincare and may possibly be where Nayamka got this routine. She does a great job bringing it to video format! It's actually called oil gritting. It's a trend which started on reddit. The original method is - 1. Cleanse with any oil ( massage it for a a moderate amount of time( 2. Wash it once with a soap cleanser. 3. Apply any clay mask ( a thick layer) 4. After drying, wash it and massage with the oil or an oil cleanser again. 5. Enjoy the black and white heads popping out if your skin
I tried this last night not long after a shower and oh my days. It was amazing! I am definitely going to be doing more of this. I loved seeing the black heads just pop out. After the shower my pores were open and they just slid out. It was so cool. Thank you 😊😊
I just tried it and yeah, I was getting lots of lil dots. Awesome!!!!! I'm totally doing this once a week from now on with my homemade castor/jojoba oil cleanser :)
@@yoricade I can attest it does really work - tried it for the first time today. You need to be patient though and massage the skin for at least 5-10 minutes. Just use any non-comedogenic oil
I have been oil cleansing for 5 days now. What led me to this routine was for the following reasons: Oily skin And breakouts under my face mask After watching your video and the esthetician’s video and it dawned on me that I never washed my skin long enough. Then I started wearing sunscreen more and I think that clog up my pores too especially under my face masks. I started with Johnson’s baby oil and it’s been such a great experience. After a few more days I’m going to experiment with hemp seed oil and then grape seed oil. But I’m hooked with the johnsons baby oil. I’m definitely addicted to it because I haven’t broken out since I started and I really believe it cleanses and moisturizing my skin significantly. I was able to get oil plugs around my hair line and temple areas the most. Give this routine a try you will not be disappointed.
Sebaceous plugs, I'd call them. I remember watching a Thai skincare expert do this, but he minimized the rubbing by putting plastic wrap over the oiled face for twenty minutes straight and letting the oil heat up that way, THEN massaging. It's worked for me before, but itpretty uncomfortable if you live in the tropics... and I wouldn't recommend it if you have fungal acne, for example. Would work a treat for dry skinned folks, though! Also @The Golden Rx has an ADORABLE voice???
OMG I literally just tried this after watching your video (and Nayamka) and it works!!! I did not get those filaments from the thumbnail, but definitelly felt it become gritty and my skin now feels as if I've exfoliated it. Im definitelly going to keep trying this, thank you for making this video.
Just tried this (just the 15 minute cleanse) with a random mac cleansing oil freebie I had laying around. Had been annoyed by some sebaceous filaments and they're all GONE! Like a magic eraser 💜 love it.
Wow! So I have to say, I immediately tried this using the DHC cleansing oil and it is life changing! Dirt was immediately ejected from my face! Thank you so much for this!
I just watched her video and I did it with regular grapeseed oil she recommends for oily skin and it worked pretty well. I think I want to try the cleaning oil next

I know I'm late but holy crap this is life changing. I'll have light scars on my nose from constantly squeezing blackheads when I was younger. I tried this today and while I didnt feel very much grit on my fingers, when I used a warm towel to take it off, my nose had half the blackheads it did before I did this! And my pores looks tighter?! Ok so I'm dumbfounded. This actually works! I have oily skin so I was totally skeptical but I decided to give it a go. I used the boscia charcoal melt balm and the Pacifica oil cleanser. This combo worked within minutes of rubbing in the 2nd step. I was like.. What am I feeling? And low and behold it was tiny little black granules or filaments. I didn't get a whole lot bcuz I take good care of my skin, but there was def something! It was really kind of neat to have something actually work, so thank you. I'll be adding this to my regime every other wk.

I went to cosmetology school at the height of oil cleansing. It has been a lifesaver to my dry skin for years. I’m 37 years old and you cannot tell by my face. Excellent way of cleansing. PS: I make my own oil cleanser as well as for friends using various oils (almond, avocado, sunflower, grape seed and castor-more castor based on oil level in skin no more than 50% for very oily skin). Dry to normal skin: 95% oils of choice based on needs, 5% poly 80; normal to oily skin: 90% oil, 10% poly 80; oily skin: 80% oil, 20% poly 80. Works awesome.
Holy heck it's weird and a miracle! Hiram and James have fixed so many of my skin issues... But I'm just one of this people that sweat really easily, and I run medium distance twice a week - nothing would fix those blocked pores completely...and am so good I resisted a 'deep dive' with squeezing. I tried this asap after watching - and boom! Within 5 minutes I felt a few sandy bits on my face... Loads and loads by 15 mins! I actually went to wash the oil off as I swear it started to feel like a mechanical exfoliation 😂 These are just like in the pics, little black brown Lumos of varying sizes. This cleansing method is a keeper.
Here again to say I watched this, went and did the oil cleanse, got AMAZING results immediately after and the next day, but today broke out like mad 😂 but in a purgy way so going to keep doing this and see what happens xx

@james welsh you should look up the comments from people who have tried this method and have broken out and/damaged their moisture barrier from it. I’m sadly a victim and I can definitely it is this. A caution of irritation would be informative. It’s not just slight irritation, it’s burning and super red and sore skin. Your skin is a warrior for surviving this!
I know what you mean. But take solace in the fact that no one else is really paying attention to you, or at least not as much attention as you pay your own skin :)
Facials feel really nice. The facial routine in the uk is cleanse, tone, skin analysis, deep cleanse, tone, exfoliator, steamer, comedone (blackheads) extractor, tone, facial massage, tone, mask, tone then lastly moisturise. All products have to match your skin type and it’s a 4 weekly thing. Just wish college was open so I could go back and finish my physical assessments.
Just tried doing this using the Hanskin BHA cleansing oil for 15 mins, and it actually worked. Little clearish yellow plugs were on my fingers. Finally! It also made extractions afterward so easy.

i’ve been doing this type of oil cleansing for a while and it really works. from the first time i did it, i got oil plugs out. i suffer with hormonal acne and this has helped a lot with it. just put your favorite show on and massage away haha
How long? I started oil cleansing with cooking sunflower oil because it is good for oily skin and I got lots of oil plugs out and I’ve been doing it for 3 days now and each time I double cleansed and like some of my pimples on the forehead just popped right there and now some of them are just dried out but I suppose I’ll have to wait some time for it to be clear
Wow, just wow. Finally something that’s not BS. And my skin felt soooooo soft and supple after only the oil cleanse!! What is happening right now?!!! So crazy. At first you feel one dot and it’s like “is that...?! No it can’t be!” Then more and more come off and your just dying inside of happiness. Thank you so so so much for bringing this to light.
A lot of is is removing dead skin cells.
This freaking works I'm shocked at all the little things that came out of my face!😳 Gross.....yes! Effective....absolutely!!! (I used my pharmacy green clean balm) So glad you introduced her to me. Thank you ❤
So just to ask, did you use green clean two times in a row or did you just massage for 15 on your first cleanse?
@@JessicaFlores-ft1cp if I’m wearing makeup I’ll do a double cleanse and massage during the second cleanse. If no makeup I’ll do one cleanse. My favorite cleansing oil is Tatcha’s Camilla cleansing oil, it really changed my skin. I’ve had minimal to no breakouts since using. Only downside is it’s expensive. So I use green clean in between. I’ve done away with all other cleansers.
@@marb6866 just tried it last night, I am a convert!
I JUST TRIED IT THIS WORKS!
I only have the living cleansing balm from then I met you so I just rubbed this in for 20 min while I watched videos and then suddenly my fingers had some clear and black dots that felt like sand. Now my rough chin is smooth. Thank you for sharing your discoveries James and for introducing us to other channels as well. Completley subbed to her!
It shocks me that people don’t know how to properly wash themselves in general 😂
Face - 60 seconds
Teeth - 2-3 minutes
Hands - 20 seconds
I think Covid 19 taught us that so many people weren’t washing their hands properly so not surprised that most don’t wash their faces right either 😂😝
I always got taught to brush my teeth for 4-5mins minimum, 2mins seems too short to me!
Lissa Elle I do it for 4 minutes too 😂 with my Oral B electric toothbrush or else I feel gross. I’ve seen people brush for like 30 seconds and they are done...I’m grossed out 🤣
I already was doing this before covid lol
@@dianalovestoplan you are wearing down your enamel especially since you are using an electric toothbrush. Causing grooves in your teeth in which bacteria can accumulate causing...cavities.
Flipgirl Narie I go to the dentist every 6 months and I have great teeth so I don’t think this is true. I use a sensitive head and follow a sensitive program. The brush let’s you know if you apply too much pressure. I’ve never had my dentist say I’m ruining my teeth.

I’ve been subscribed to you for a month now and I’ve really changed up my whole skincare routine. I didn’t realize how many bad habits I had because of popular UA-cam/Instagram trends. Thank you so much for all you and your brother do 🥰

"Wait a minute this doesn't happen to me when I oil cleanse, why doesn't this happen to me when I oil cleanse?"
INTENSE STARING AT THE CAMERA
Same here! So disappointing 😞
She is a sweetheart! Like so genuine and helpful and knowledgeable. I adore her so much ❤️❤️❤️
I tried it and it worked!!!
Messaging with oil actually loosens and removes skin so it is a form of exfoliation.
James always follows through when it comes to cleansing tips 🙌 have a great weekend James, you look absolutely glowing!
Yeah I did and break out like crazy around my mouth right now my skin is still irritated but I’m better 🥺
Just started the video. Am I supposed to be oil cleansing for MINUTES?! Aye- no wonder! 💕
@@MB-tw9oe I use The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Light Cleansing Oil! 😊😊😊
@@jazzupyourlife.official do you use a product before your oil cleanser or have you just been using that? I want to give it a try!
One of my best friends is an esthetician and I love her treatments. Her skin is beautiful.
The original method is -
1. Cleanse with any oil ( massage it for a a moderate amount of time(
2. Wash it once with a soap cleanser.
3. Apply any clay mask ( a thick layer)
4. After drying, wash it and massage with the oil or an oil cleanser again.
5. Enjoy the black and white heads popping out if your skin
I love her! She's the reason I double cleanse for 60sec for each step! This makes me want to pull the trigger on the DOC cleanser from Ulta
Did it really work? Please, could you share a recipe for this cleanser? 😊
@@yoricade I can attest it does really work - tried it for the first time today. You need to be patient though and massage the skin for at least 5-10 minutes. Just use any non-comedogenic oil
Can you do this everyday? Can you follow up with an everyday cleanser or you moisturize after the ooo cleanse
I have been oil cleansing for 5 days now. What led me to this routine was for the following reasons:
Oily skin
And breakouts under my face mask
After watching your video and the esthetician’s video and it dawned on me that I never washed my skin long enough.

@@squelch4093 lol ya it does still!
Nay and Beauty Within on UA-cam are literally the reason I’m so into skincare lately god I can’t get enough
" I did not get those filaments from the thumbnail," You need to do it for 10 minutes after a hot shower.
I felt your excitement at getting those out in my soul! I’m off to give my 13 daughter one of these facials 🖤
You have 13 daughters??! // jk i notice typo.. 😉. Unless... 😱
Just tried this (just the 15 minute cleanse) with a random mac cleansing oil freebie I had laying around. Had been annoyed by some sebaceous filaments and they're all GONE! Like a magic eraser 💜 love it.

I tried this right after your post. I got 2 black dots! I just hope it wasn’t the lint from my face cloth. 🤣
I actually went to wash the oil off as I swear it started to feel like a mechanical exfoliation 😂

This cleansing method is a keeper.
It works for the rest of your skin on your body too.
