Hello, greetings. I enjoy your repair videos. QSC Amps seems intimidating to repair. I am Clinton Downer and I am elated while at the same time felt disappointed or think its a travesty of justice to see the name "Clintronics" RVA. I have been using that term since about the year 2003 when I was in school as an electronic hobbyist. So each project I would have made I wrote "CLINTRONIX" on them. To this day I still do it. So I was a bit flabbergasted when I stumbled upon your repair site by the same name. It's interesting to note that anything someone thinks of, another person somewhere has the same thought. As the saying goes great minds think alike...
yeah my customers started jokingly calling me clintronics when I worked for someone else. So when I started the business I saw the name and website were open and had zero hits when I googled them. and the rest is history.
Great Work , What is the resistance on the output transistors BCE by the heat sinks 16 0hms b c n c e I have a similar qsc I think the transformer T1 is open no 18 volts no 16 volts no 5 volts on the switching power supply. U17 Tsd 1135 transformer may be open
Hi good day I have a q.s.c plx3602 problems.... the problem is the relay clicking on for a few minutes and clicking of it comes on for a few minutes and of I don't know what causing that problem can you let me what can I do
make sure your heat sink fins are clean. if it stays on for a few minutes and then clicks it could be hitting the turn off temp. remove dirt and make sure the fan works
I bought one of this same amplifier on ebay. Unit turn on, only the green power led light turn on, fan not working. Red Clip lights doesn't even blink . Same as yellow led ( parallel/bridge mode) when setup as parallel/ bridge. Any idea on what could be a problem? Thank you
@@ciptosangpembolang4612 Look up the schematic/service manual for the amplifier, it's pretty easy to find any qsc amp schematic for any of their current and any previous series "usa, ex, mx, mxa, rmx, rmxa, plx, gx, pl" other then the first gen A series from the early to mid 70's. Good luck.
First thing. Take the lid off and see if anything caught on fire in side. There are what looks like two big 3 legged transistors on a separate heat sink. See if these exploded and the board in front of them burned up.
@@clintronicsrva hey, I had a simillar problem with my plx2402. It works normal but when I turn it off, channel n2 creates a very loud pop. Connected it to a scope and there is a big spike present when I turn it off, just on channel 2. There is nothing blown or shorted. Signal looks good and matched on both channels. Where might be the problem? Thanks
@@barbasbandas6665 Thats probably a question for a warranty center I havent worked on many of these. I would maybe monitor the way the rail voltages decay when turned off comparing good channel to bad. Might also be a muting/safety relay type issue.
@@clintronicsrva thanks for the response. The amp is from 2004 so no more warranty but maybe I ask them anyway. Yeah I suspected that too. Will give it a go. Thanks!

So, Protect mode?… Does that mean it was starting and stopping in a continuous cycle or was not doing anything? More info on pre-inspect process… Otherwise excellent video
Thanks for responding I have one coming that I will be working on I find it interesting with all these protections, overheat, dc in output, overcurrent How the hell are so many transistors getting blown up his these amps? with the clever use of the switch mode power supply you can literally shut down the power supply and protect itself so why doesnt it,,? Looking forward to your new video
Clint, So I have my PLX 1602 I am starting on… My transistors and drivers seem to be good… There is some to 2watt resistors associated with the Op amps they are starting to burn the board… So I will be looking into that and my power supply is burned up… Question is… I have been studying the power supply and don’t understand how the feedback works I do not see anything coming off the secondary feeding back into this thing so how does it regulate? Maybe I am just missing it

Look at your IGBTs mounted on that heat sink. See if they look blown. Sounds like your power supply section is dead
I have a 1250 EX series QSC amplifier, the protect and clip light is on, on the left side channel any advice
Thats a pretty old amp, sounds like you have a blown channel. should take an experienced tech 2-3 hours max to repair it.
