As a boy growing up in the Midwest, playing with Barbies got me in a lot of trouble. With my friends, with my family, especially with my dad. One of my earliest memories is using my Christmas money to buy myself a bubble spouting mermaid Barbie. I had to keep her secret from my parents, but she was definitely my favorite toy for years to come. This build made me very happy, Kate 💚
I am so sorry you got into trouble! I am so happy you still got to enjoy Barbie and got yourself the mermaid Barbie! I also had mermaid Barbies and an Ariel one, I always kept them near the bathtub so when I took a bath I was playing with them. Thank you for sharing your Barbie memories :)

Everyone has a preference when it comes to toys. Dolls are generally marketed to girls because of the appeal but it doesn't mean boys aren't allowed to play with it either. It's Sad what happened to you.🙁

Love it! I played nonstop with my Barbies as a child of the 80s. I had a hand built mansion that my step dad made and my mom furnished with linoleum, carpet, closets, the works. It had real lights and all. I remember when he was building it, he kept telling me he was making him a toolbox 😂🤦🏽♀️. I was so surprised. For the past 25 years I have been collecting them, from the collector site, so I have a lot. And I buy my niece a nice collector every year on her birthday, so she now has a nice collection.

This looks exactly like the show. Also I’m pretty sure both me and my sister (who is 10 years younger) had at least half these Barbie furniture items. Like that massive curved couch etc. Haha love it

Thank you so much for this build. My daughter has been asking me for months to have a house in my sims save and I could never seem to find just the right one for her. She is 8 and her absolute favorite thing is Barbies. So with supervision i guess its time to let her dive in with this home as her first ever sims play!

If you are on the computer : you can go in game and press the keyboard keys - Ctrl and Shift and C - and then type: testingcheats true - and then type: death.toggle : doing that disables all deaths in the game! I have an enjoyment of all the Sims, each unique and special; so I have a specific gameplay that has no deaths and no aging - - the game never ends in that mode! All the Sims stay the same age and never die, ever!
I didn't know if you've ever heard of the ingame developer's console, so I explained it as simple as possible. Being a brain damaged military Veteran; makes being super simple second-hand to me, so I'm pretty good at that! You can also do some "Googling" and look up all the features of the developer's console in The Sims 4. The developer's console is something used when designing the game and testing it; but they left it in the game. It includes the ability to type: money - and whatever amount you want, and "poof" your Sims have that amount! It also gives access to the Reset unresponsive Sims features, by Shift-clicking Sims with the "cheats" activated. I don't think of it as "cheating;" because a lot of times I must have that reset feature to 'unfreeze' unresponsive Sims a lot, and I use it to make fictional stories by changing households to match the story ideas that I have!
Maybe that would be a good idea for an eight year old; to prevent aging and deaths? I know how to swap the save folder, so I have different gameplays; and, my most relaxing one is the one where everything stays "perfect" - and no Sims suddenly die, because I toggled it off in the developer's ingame console on the computer! : - )
Oh, I forgot to also mention : that using the Shift-click options available through developer commands - All the Needs for the Household or even the whole world can be totally disabled!! Making Sims like Toys, that's like the best way to have unrealistic Fun! I too enjoy that sometimes when just wanting to relax and enjoy the unique world of The Sims. So making use of the developer's console on computer can add so much to the base game without using any mods at all! I hope that this advice is found to be helpful.

I was so exited when I saw you did a barbie build. I really love the energy in barbie movies cause it just makes me so happy, every time I'm feeling down I just open UA-cam and start watching Barbie life in the dream house and then I'm suddenly a happier person :)

I loved Barbie so much, I always watched "Barbie-Life in the Dreamhouse" and I also played with the Doll of course. I got one from my Grandma at Christmas, when my Family and me traveled to Canada to celebrate there. I can remeber myself laying in front of the chimney and dressing my Barbie on and off. By the way, I'm also from Germany😊

I absolutely ADORE this,! Pink is my favorite color and I loooved barbie as a kid. I had so much barbie stuff when I was a kid, I played with my bestfriends all the time. I never had any of the houses but I had a ton of furniture for the houses like kitchen stuff, livingrooms,bedrooms etc. Was always a blast. I remember my one friend and I would always pretend our barbie family would have to travel and we'd each use our cars and then set up "camp" in different places wherever we were playing,,, such good times lol. My love for sims probably comes from my love for barbies lol.

Wow, what a beautiful build! It really has the Barbie vibes. I LOVE Barbie dolls and Disney Princess dolls! I was not allowed to have Barbies but that never stopped me from buying some of them in secret. I kept a lot of mine and I still collect them to this day. I remember playing out these big soap opera type dramas or trying to recreate movie scenes. Lots of fun times. ❤️

This is next level building! I'm jealous, I wish I had more knowledge on how to properly use the building aspect more because I'd love to create some of the things I've seen built here, I should just devote some time and practice with the tools, really wish the game came with tutorials on how to use them
My favourite Barbie movie was The Princess and the Pauper. I also had the CD for the soundtrack from that movie and I used to force my mum to play it all the time in the car; didn't matter if it was a short drive or a road trip, I would sing my heart out in the car and pretend I was actually the Barbies singing in the movie and would try to do all the roles at once.
Also, this is such an amazing build! Honestly, I love the million different shades of pink as it's one of my favourite colours (my other two are purple and grey). You always do so good with your builds, and it's always cool to see you try something a little different. Stay awesome! 💕

I love you Kate Emerald I've learned so much watching your videos,and you have improved my builds significantly as a result. Thank you. I was struggling with a castle build using the curved walls I loved the way it was structured but only the modern windows looked good on the curved walls and the windows on the rest of the build were more medieval styled. Your trick of using the wainscoting saved the day. Thank you again. I was getting so frustrated with the windows until I watched this video.....

Aww thank you!! Well in this case it just happened because I was joking about pink windows and then the Barbie idea was born haha
I love this it reminds me of playing with Barbies as a kid. I always wanted a Barbie doll house, but we were poor so I ended getting a used one that was falling apart, but I still loved it. I also played with Bratz and MyScene dolls. Sometimes I wish I was a kid again, but my life is much better now. Thank you Kate it’s really beautiful. 😄
You say you’re not good at recreating houses but I recognized this from the thumbnail immediately!! Looks great it’s so fun 🤩 Also that palm tree always looked fake to me too lol

@@KateEmerald this has given me a new challenge idea. The Barbie challenge lol Set your game to long lifespan, do your best to recreate barbie and ken. Live in this house and do every career, getting at least one promotion before you move on. You would choos the Renaissance sim aspiration and could never have children lol

Wow! Love it! I had barbies up till I was 16 then they got lost in a move. I had a few from Germany from when my dad was station over there in the 80s. My girls grew up on Barbie, but they arent the same as they use to be.

Oh I was sooo obsessed with barbie. I owned so so many barbies and I loved all the barbie movies. The princess and the pauper was my favorite one and I had both of the singing barbies from it, I got them for christmas and I was the happiest child. When i was supposed to sleep I sneaked out and into the living room to play with them again under the christmas tree. It was so magical

@@KateEmerald I think I had 3 singing barbies and they were the most precious things I owned. They had a button on their back and when you pressed it, they started playing a snippet of their song in the movie!

Pink is my absolute favorite color so this is the type of house I've been dreaming of for the sims!! It makes me wanna jump on the game right now & make Barbie & her sisters in CAS!! I always loved playing with Barbies!! I'm 29 now so I don't really get to play with the newer ones but I have to say I'm so happy they finally changed the body types & gave them more diversity! I played Polly Pockets & Bratz too! I was already an adult When Monster High Dolls became a thing, but if there was a build from there I'm sure you'd make it look so awesome!! I absolutely love your content 😍 I only wish that I could build as amazing as you! Also, I play on console so I'm rather limited!! Thank you for my dream sims home❤

I only ever watched two Barbie movies as a child and it took me until adulthood to discover the Barbie Dreamhouse series, but those two Barbie movies are such an instrumental part of my childhood. I still love re-watching them! I also was huge into Barbie dolls; I remember when they came out with horses and riding sets I was genuinely so excited and had to immediately invite my friends over to play with them with me. Anyway this brought up a lot of fun memories!

This has to be my favorite build you’ve ever done bc I’m obsessed with Barbie and Bratz dolls. Lol I will be placing this. My favorite Barbie memory is my dad buying me a Barbie every birth. He would take me to the toy store and get me any Barbie I wanted. My mom wouldn’t let me open the ones she bought me though. Lol thank you for this. I had a Barbie movie collection when I was younger and I looooved to pretend I'm a princess. My favourite was Rapunzel and 12 dancing princesses. 10 years later I'm on my way to transitioning with Barbie being my first realisation :) i'll always have fond memories of Barbie

While I was a senior in high school we had to create a video of what we read in this book.
My friend and I decided to create the book with my Barbies!!! (Yes, I had them in my room still, tho I didn't play with them). That was the funniest video, especially when we played the video in front of the class. (We even did a commercial half way thru) Got an 'A' for our presentation!! 🤪

Thank you so much! :) I've started to look into the challenge but did I get it right that the color only has to be present in the build and it's not 100% mint for example? So other neutral colors would be allowed (Such as white)? :)
Yes, this would be such a fun build series to see from you! I've seen people use the color in different ways, but based on the rules I would say that you are correct Kate :) When I built one for fun, I took inspiration from the color and also from the generation guidelines, but I wanted it to actually look good too lol so I definitely used a lot of other colors.
I used my bedroom closet ikea-like shelves as apartments for my barbies. I'd take all my clothes out of the shelves and decorate each box differently. This did lead to a messy room but I had too much fun playing.

I was obsessed with Barbie growing up, played with Barbie until I was about 12, I still have some of my barbies, I gave them to my daughters, and now youngest is starting ti grow out of barbie, it makes me sad.

I used to have a barbie that came with a baby Keiko orca and orca’s are my favourite so I used to love this doll and the whale so much 🥹🥹 loved making all sorts of stories with my dolls 🙏🏻

I think we were in the same era, we just missed the age of the Barbie movies. But in the 90s though... Barbies, Polly Pockets (the actual small ones you could fit in your pocket), and Easy Bake Ovens were everything! As well as at least one Nerf gun if you had a sibling, for totally innocent reasons... yup totally innocent. 😅
Anyways, this looks great! Definitely the pink explosion I expected it to be! Pink is not my favorite color & never has been so irl I wouldn't live here but 7 year old me... I'd absolutely live out my Barbie fantasies here!

My favorite movie was always princess charm school! I still have the dvd somewhere in my closet. However my grandmother is big on only buying the collectors dolls so I had all the holiday Barbies going back to the year I was born.
I was turning 3 in 1986 or 87 and invited my whole preschool class. I got the whole set of Barbie and the Rockers that year, plus the new Business Barbie complete with fax machine and Happy Birthday Barbie. I passed those dolls on to my daughter last year.
This is amazing Kate. Maybe you could build a smaller house to be the neighbour of Barbie. The House could be mostly white with the pink accents, so you could have the pink windows.
