@@americanronin5223 Hmong aren't Chinese, they spent their history trying not to be Chinese. I get what you're trying to do, but the reality is Chinese and Han are synonyms in real world speech. There's a reason why Hmong people call China Suav Teb, the land of the Chinese. But yeah, you're right I am Chinese, and I can say without a doubt Hmong people are not Chinese. Are they originally from an area that is now known as China? Yeah they are, but so are Tibetans, and I'm pretty sure they would be highly offended if you were to say they were Chinese, because they are not. Kind of hard to argue with an actual Chinese person about whether another group of people are part of my race or not

Now, I agree with you that a subset of Hmong have resisted assimilation to the present day. However, that is limited to Hmong who left China in the 1800s. You should note that those who left China make up a very small portion of the Chinese Hmong/Miao community. More than 90% of Hmong are Chinese natives, so your assertion that most have left China is false. Now, I understand the Han have always been trying to marginalize and "otherize" minorities, but that doesn't change our Chinese-ness. By your logic, I presume you also believe that the Hakka, Hokkien, and Cantonese are not Chinese either since they all speak Sino languages other than Mandarin.
