Can't go wrong with any Bob Marley albums
Incredible music
Brilliant songs...
No wallet, no cry
No wallet, you cry.
Lol
I've been reading that some people say why audiophile reggae? But these Marley records are really well recorded by Chris Blackwell.
I love the Bob Marley Kaya album.
Yeah I don’t get the negative feedback with doing the rest of the Marley’s. Im thinkin those same folks are the ones that were disappointed when Chad couldn’t get Tuff Gong to license them all. Now he does and people are complaining “too much Marley”.
Great breakdown, Mike! You’re doing a great service to the vinyl community.
I DO wish ‘Survival’ was part of the series as it’s the one I spin most often. ‘Confrontation’ is great, too.
I'm pretty much done with 45 rpm. Saved me some money but still ordered the three 33.3 rpm titles which was painful.
I’m so happy for this release. Didn’t care personally for Steely Dan but happy for those that were excited for it. This is up there with The Doors, Led Zep and supertramp for UHQR best case scenarios for me.
All of these titles are under 40 minutes (most around 35-37) so the advantage of 45 diminishes. 33s sound great cut at 16-18 minutes, when it’s 20+ minutes per side the advantage of spreading them out on 4 sides at 45 becomes more evident.
You make a great point
l was so pleased with this AS announcement. Having already purchased Rastaman Vibration & Exodus UHQRs when released.
l had a word with the bank manager and went on to pre-order 33rpm UHQRs - Catch a Fire, Burning and Natty Dread. l purchased John Coltrane Ballads UHQR at a 40% reduced cost in November ‘24. I am not sure that the test of time will lead to the same with these releases. I may be wrong, but there was FOMO.
Bob Marley is like Stevie Ray Vaughan. He rose above his genre.
I’d love the ORIGINAL Catch a Fire, the Jamaican version.
Get all the tapes, Mike!
Nice Video Mike! 🔥🔥cool that Bob Marley finally appears on UHQR! Very nice 👍Greetins from Germany, Julian
Kaya and Uprising are two of my favorites. I'm glad I can pick these up for a cheaper price.
me too!!!
Another great breakdown! They did keep the old style box for Steely Dan, so they may do the same with the Bob Marley releases.
You speak about R2R but what's great is that there are so many vintage tapes are available like the Living Stereo RCA classical recordings or even The Doors/ Led Zeppelin. As far as the Marley recordings I firmly believe the Marley family was so impressed by the way the past UHQR's were handled and with such great results/respect. It was a test of sorts by the family.
I don't know if you are a Yello fan but several of the recordings are now available on R2R. Brilliant band always well recorded. Your mind will be blown: Stella and One Second would be my top picks so far. C.
Yes, $450 for the reel to reel tapes is expensive. But I think compared to the UHQRs they are the better deal. Keep in mind the empty tapes alone will cost around $180. Plus packaging and royalties (and the packaging of the tapes is just as nice as the packaging from the UHQRs). And then a person has to copy the tapes in real time. And the tape machines have to be checked and serviced regularly.
I doubt AP makes much money on these...
And of course a good tape copy beats the vinyl everytime.
Missing the Catch A Fire so-called Jamaican version WITHOUT the UK overdubs. The best version IMO, and missing an audiophile treatment.
Great news!!!
I considered just doing the 33s, but the 45s are only $25 more.
Kaya is my second favorite Marley album. They should have just done them all as UHQR.
Not a huge marley fan either but I did buy the two 33 uhqrs when they came out. I'm kinda pissed because I do prefer 45 but I'm not buying them because I already have them don't feel like selling them so yeah. As for the rest of the catalog ahh I'll pick them up on sacd. Maybe catch a fire on 45 but even that's not a favorite so yea not the biggest fan but I do like him though.
Someone may trade you
I missed a chance of a good pressing of Exodus the last time around so I preordered it yesterday. Wish i could’ve ordered a 33 rpm but dems the breaks.
we got the herb
His two live albums on Island not being included in this series is a huge bummer. I listen to "Live!" and "Babylon By Bus" more than any of his studio work.
I am guessing just because the recording quality isn’t on part with the res of the studio albums to justify UHQR. I am bummer there is no survival
They’re missing 2 live lps as well, the first a single lp is brilliant and has the ultimate version of no woman no cry that is played on radio.
The other live LPs babylon by bus is a double live lp release
Reading some of the comments on UA-cam, the people moaning have zero understanding of what a UHQR is, nor that Analogue productions are merely fulfilling an order by the Marley Estate and so have no say what format is released. I can only assume most of them are children, or lack any real world experience. I was lucky and got the original Rastaman Vibrations 33, I need 3 of these new ones, have ordered 2 immediately, need to work out the third
Ok I am at the point where I am really burnt out. Reissues of reissues of reissues of reissues. How many times are they going to press the same record? I have always been fine with an original or maybe a regular reissue. I don't need to spend money on 14 different reissues, remixes, remasters, etc, etc, etc. Audiophile blah blah blah. Some things just don't need it. Can't people listen to a regular record anymore? Maybe it's just me....
Yeah it's ridiculous and those boxes are ugly and unnecessary
?? Do you throw eggs at premium car brands too because though those car types / series from several MFGs are targeted where they are?
Nearly 90% of the history of premium vinyl reissues from EVERYONE is also eventually or simultaneously reissued too by their label or sublabel.
Come on now.....
And Mike, as always, talks it over from all perspectives.

No, eggs are too expensive
Then don’t. I’m new to the game and was not even a legal adult when the original UHQR was released
He’s doing UHQR because with the box, more $.
If it was a licence issue, he could have done 45s without clarity vinyl, which isn’t great. And that ridiculous box
Kaya is one of the least popular!!!!!??????? THAT IS HIS BEST RECORD people!!!!!!!
Bummer there is no Uorising UHQR. My favorite Marley album.
Agree, Sound quality on Uprising is outstanding . I have a Uk original
Let’s hope the 33’s sound better then the kind of blue that was awful
I love my 33 kind of blue what’s wrong with yours?
No Ricky, no UHQR
Being a massive marley fan it's here we go again with yet another re release of all island albums same old same old but way way more expensive most outta reach for the working poor
Instead of here we go again and it's Bob's 80th birthday with no real release to enjoy another anniversary missed opportunity once again
What would been nice is a few years ago the Rainbow 77 shows finally all found release either on line or a 2 set vinyl release which was great except the rest never went to vinyl
It would been great if all of them would been released in a 8 LP boxset but as I said a missed opportunity but they can keep on re releasing same old same old without a care in the world
There is so much rare material out there the world needs to here it all
Sad how it's all being kept from us
Punctuation exists.
@@Groover71 😂
Any ETA for these? Maybe not exact date, but is it first half of 2025? End of 2025? 2026?
Universals Steely Dan pressins suck
Those prices my not be the price by the time Trump's 25% tariff on China where most of the virgin vinyl comes and other required chemicals for high end analog come from.
i can only afford records pressed on promiscuous vinyl, anyways
😄
