      I tell you the best Martial Arts in the world that will almost work in almost every situation
      "Run-very-fast"-Do. If you can´t run, try to open a way to run.
      Confronting an armed maniac is the worst one can do - when you can´t do everything that comes out of your will to survive - it won´t be better or worse than what 60 % of the worlds population would do.

    I've trained MMA for years and competed a few times for fun. I had realistic training in the Marine Corps and have since instructed basic MMA and advanced striking and real world self defense.
    What Nick is teaching here is 100% on the money (for street defense). This is great advice and great instruction. Well done.

    How to win a fight:
    Step 1) Get on your knees
    Step 2) Pinch their balls as hard as you can
    Step 3) Do step 2 over and over again until the person gives up
    Step 4) Run away
    Stay safe.

    May i suggest something. When you upper cut, don't do the traditional circular inward upper cut. In other words, your start is great, your movement up the center line is wonderful, but you hit and pull circular back up like 90% of MMA fighters do. Instead..... to with that 45% arc up the center line, connecting fist to his jaw and keep going up through him, at the same angle. Your fist runs out of room when your arm is almost straight. It is important NEVER TO straighten your arm with an uppercut because sometimes people get knocked silly, toss their hands in front and grab your arm, and can easily snap and injury it. So the video was great, I'm not knocking it. I'm just suggesting keep going with that force you created, instead of whipping it circular back towards you which loses untold amounts of pressure. Go through his chin, through his skull and keep going up, which forces his head back!!! Where the head goes, the body follows. If dude isn't knocked out, his head will be aimed up and back, this causes neck injury and he may just fall back. If he is KO he will go up back and then down. Good work though. Just a suggestion of continuing that line of fire.

    Nick... I love how many of the viewers who comment seem to think they know what you're doing wrong and or can pick your instruction apart and give others what they feel is the correct technique or proper instruction. Some others seem to think or believe that certain moves are "cheap shots". What they don't understand is that the situations you give demos on have already gotten to that point of almost certain physical confrontation, (unless of course it gets diffused) and you're not going to play patty cakes with the person! It's all business at that point and time to neutralize the threat. Your videos kick ass, and are very helpful. Keep em' coming and keep up the great work!!!

    • @idonknowhoami
      @idonknowhoami 10 років тому

      Very well put. I'm a small dude and need stuff like this to even stand a chance against most guys who start problems with me, to think protecting yourself is a cheap shot is just foolish.

    I think a lot of the kids who watch these videos are not getting the idea. I am not Nick so I can not speak for him, but for the youngsters out there--avoiding the fight is your first move. Before you practice knocking someone out work on your communication skills. Work on understanding body language, and stay away from places where you might get into trouble. This is SELF DEFENSE. I know that every teenager dreams of beating up the big bad bulley. I know I did, but 99 percent of the time it is better to avoid a confrontation. You may think that people will view you as a pussy or whatever, but in reality they dont care. No one with an average IQ gives a damn about who can beat up who. Yes it is a good idea to know how to protect yourself, but stop looking for fights. I read a lot of comments that say "thanks for the tip. I can't wait to beat up this bulley.", well, that is the wrong thing to do. Any of these techniques should be a LAST RESORT. If you are being bullied avoid the bully as much as possible. THere is no such thing as a good fight. When you are young you do not know how bad things can go in an innocent school yard brawl. I am 36 and I have seen some seemingly minor scuffles end in death and permanent damage. I have seen a simple choke hold kill. A one punch fight end with a boy paralyzed from the neck down. A push and shove end in a life time prison sentence, and a solitary smack to the face cause a nine month old baby to lapse into a coma and die 3 days later. Fighting is no joke. Nick, I think you should take a little more time to stress how dangerous fighting can be. I know you do more than enough already, but read the comments from some of these kids? It is scary.

    Using the Crossed arm hand around mouth is good camouflage when trying to defuse, because the upper cut strike can be landed without them being none the wizer.. You are never going to telegraph with your shoulders anyway, using your hips to give the added thrust to your punch.. Great video.

    • @masskeeper
      @masskeeper 10 років тому +15

      Turn around and run away from a bigger, stronger guy?
      ..you wanna get rapped or something?!
      The guy is stronger then you, turning around means you are done immediately if he is close enough, you lost all chance to defuse OR defend.
      In fact it could even conduct him to make the first move while you could have defused even by shutting your mouth (which is not a good idea).
      If you are far enough, you might have a chance, IF you are a better runner than he is AND depending on his weapon if he has one!
      Don't ever do that if you think your opponent is going to strike you.
      You should watch this guy's tips and tricks, I think this is sort of survival tricks you want to take a good look at. Hopefully, you will never need them, but they could definitely help.

    Honestly speaking, I feel like the most important thing that I am being taught here is the way of thinking, having an awareness of what's going on and WHY is it so important. Obviously, the martial arts themselves are good, but I mainly appreciate the information because of the intellectual content. I think that gives a hell of advantage. Thanks Nick!

      Danijel S Well I was unaware you were a ninja so I expect an answer like that from one. For the rest of us, it is a great idea. As far as getting fired up, give me a break man. That's nothing. It's called a response to an asinine comment that deserved every bit. As far as the Mom troll comment......Good one man. I'm in pain from that. Fear presents and it is very real, but if you're response is go get your mommie, you are just showing us how much of a fool you are. How's that for fired up, douche bag. PS please post a video on your exploits as a ninja. POV preferred. Parkour.....Haganah, krav maga, jiu jitsu......I want to see how tough you are. Even just a video of you flexing in the mirror while taking a selfie would kick ass. Hurry. We are all waiting for the keyboard commando ninja man.

      So a self defense expert/fighter doesn't know how to teach fear control? You're not just a keyboard warrior troll, you're also a moron. All fighters must learn to control their fear, therefore they can teach others how to do so as well.

      While I'm back here;
      Calypso Mob
      *"so ... smart people don't get robbed..."*
      A robbery involves one party forcing the other party under threat of violence, mostly in the form of a weapon. So, that's not "an argument" or a bully "attack".
      *"...or involved in a situation with brainless idiot who won't take " i don't wanna fight you man" for an answer?"*
      And you're still not talking about "an argument" or a bully. You are still talking about a fight. In one case with a weapon, in the other with an overly crazy person who you could have spotted from miles away and who you can obviously avoid very simply. And bullies are not crazy people, they just mad.
      So, two situations which are not even arguments or 'bullying' to begin with.
      Nice straw man. x2.
      *"you don't have half a brain."*
      Exactly, I have an entire brain.

    This is a type of Hidden Hand technique. Mine is more defensive, one hand cupping the other elbow and I use this almost any time I am talking to someone that I do not know, say, any stranger. It brings one hand up to where I can quickly block or counter a surprise or expected punch, but I remain looking relaxed and none aggressive.
    I suppose I could use this, if I decided to attack, first.
    Your style seems offensive based, but you do always want to keep the upper hand.

    Nice to the point video. I tend to employ what I call the A's. Avoid...move away, cross over, run whatever one can do to Avoid...if this fails the Assert...verbal defensive, eye contact, talk, arms defensive and set oneself in a Assertive mode...if that fails Attack; this is last option when all else has failed...and can loop back to Avoid i.e do enough to Avoid further engagement.

    How to break your hand in 1 second? Better use open hand /palm, same amount of power, but less harming for your finger bones (which you probably will need after your first1second punch did not knock him out)

    • @sambrewer780
      @sambrewer780 10 років тому +1

      palm strikes aren't as powerful (scientific fact) and that's unlikely to brake your hand as the target he's hitting isn't solid, the jaw is hinged and is unlikely to be clenched shut if the guy is mouthing off. the jaw being slack will take away most of the the impact on the hand and do the damage to the jawbone, teeth and any soft tissue in between.

      Sam Brewer You obviously have never been in a fight. Ask someone in your neighborhood to hit you with an open palm. Scientific fact is that both strikes generate enough Newtons to let you sleep. The chin bone structure isn't solid? lol

      ***** Same here, A guy was trying to look up the skirt on My girl at a club, I palmed him on each side of the heart with both palms, and he landed off a one foot dance platform and did not move for a while. They would not let me leave the club for a while as well. I have never been so nervous as I was waiting and praying for that jerk to be O.K.. They took him to the hospital to be checked out further after he finally came to. I thought I had stopped his heart. That 4th D.O.M. black belt almost gave me a record and jail time. With great power comes great responsibility. Always try to walk away when you can. Even if you win you may lose in the end.

    Oh man Nick thanks for that quick instruction video I Feel from time to time close to that situation. But now watching you in action makes me nervous in wanting going beyond my just going puffed chest to chest , toe-to-toe with an opponent either on the street or on the mats. But I'll keep this useful instruction not too far on the back burner. I'm just too afraid to try it with the anger I've been feeling lately.. the point is how to know you need to use it. Also when you're going bear fisted how do you know your fist is not going to Bear any Serious injury that's my worry because you're going fully naked with a fist. How do you strengthen a fish so it doesn't become useless or crippled after you strike? thanks again Nick I take it your a greek-american also

  • @Bigbob458

    Great move Nick...If the move lands can truly be devastating..Mastered this move in my boxing days and used it a few times in street fights..to great effect.
    Yes the knuckles can be broken but this rarely happens with this move as we all know the neck has plenty of movement...I have even heard reports of people receiving whiplash from a well placed uppercut or losing the end of the tongue.
    Nick is just trying to demonstrate a very good and reliable move to try and finish a fight before it begins....If landed and it didn't knock your opponent out it would definitely rattle your opponents senses giving you a chance to finish them.
    Great advice Nick.

    I agree with you Nick but I learned from a street fighter friend on mine that If I'm ever approached by a guy with intent to harm me he told me to strike him as soon as he's in reach, he said that instant defence attack will not be expected, they will always try to measure you up first with threatening words and will not expect an immediate reaction, so go straight in hard and fast and he will be caught completely by surprise and if he attempts to get back up then kick him hard and make sure he stays down and then walk away and forget about him..

  • @m3photo726

    You will find very few videos that tell you the absolute basics of how to engage when it’s a question of fight or flight. These guys are experts and so they can identify their targets and hit them with precision. This takes years of knowledge and practice but seems so easy on the screen. Almost all strikes are to the head and upper body and therefore also look impressive. These exercises are for the Dojo, not for street emergencies.
    Hitting others in the face is definitely not recommended - these days there are always those with phone cameras and that sort of evidence if the police turn up will always go against you initially - although it’s a natural instinct when we give in to our emotions instead of keeping focused on the main aim and that is to injure your opponent correctly so as to then go to the next phase which is flight. Dropping someone to the floor and then going down with them is also a no-no in the street, the most unsuspected individuals could join in and speed of execution is your goal.
    Now, the most important thing to keep in mind is that someone with an injured leg can’t run. This must be your priority: neutralize the leg. One leg is enough and the advantage is that there are two of them, versus one head, so you can choose whichever side suits you best. When confronted raise the arms as if to offer surrender. This catches the opponent off guard, keeps your head protected and also acts as an upper body stabilizer for the kick. Don’t kick with your toes out in front, much the same as with the hand; fingers and toes break with relative ease, that’s why punching isn’t recommended and open palm strikes are, use the heel instead. A sideways motion catching and displacing the kneecap is ideal. If you miss, you’ll at least have made the leg double sideways and if not breaking something is at least extremely painful; a straight blow to the knee will make the opponent feel sick and if hard enough will have them out of the game for long enough for you to get away. Also, on camera, it doesn’t show you to be either an expert or willing to inflict purposeful injury, rather a clumsy, spur of the moment way out. Now start practising at home so your “clumsiness” is highly effective. Like the man said, the more you do it, the better at it you are.

    For those who dont know... heated idiots will always get close for an intimidation factor... getting your arm and hands in that ready position VERY realistic. But again key is you have to be ninja with your energy pretend to defuse and dont hesitate to take your shot. Have used similar uppercut in the past. Subcribed✌

    Nice vid, as usual.
    I would add caveats.Firstly, use a palm heel, not a fist, for at least 3 reasons.
    Also I would not put my hand so close to a hostile for fear of aggravating them into starting violence. In fact I would not even use the Jack Benny stance Nick uses here. I prefer the "hands up" with palms out pleading/placating posture. If I was a thug "hot interviewing" a possible Saturday night dance partner I would see straight through the Jack Benny as a fight-ready stance and see it as a challenge, causing me to get pissed off/scared and more likely to attack. If my focus then started touching me in the chest and waving his hands near my face I would really get pissed off/frightened. Maybe Nick has some magic charm that stops things getting worse or maybe he just has to knock people out a lot!

    Good one. I can't speak to how this would work in a real life situation because my experience is very limited, but I do like the mechanics of this kind of strike. Making internal connections and firing from where you are, with whatever coiling is already there, rather bringing your weapon away from the target to coil it or otherwise loading up. I think that firing (or even just moving) from where you are already loaded up, or with minimal loading, is a useful attribute, whether it would work in this situation or not.

    Fantastic move. Thanks Nick. I can easily see how this would work in a real life situation. However, I just worry about being the one to strike first in a fight. Last time I was in a street fight and felt the legal ramifications, because the loser/aggressor pressed charges on me. After going back and forth to court for months and all the stress involved I was actually wishing I just walked away...or even lost instead.

    Interesting perspective. I am a practitioner of Krav Maga myself and I was thought always to keep my hands up which I see you did there (for defense) . But allowing a person to be this close is dangerous, because he has so many options from tripping you over to stabbing your lower body with concealed knife (groin, femural artery) and even pushing himself into you making you lose balance and drop the guard . Ofc not every attacker knows many techniques and you can expect the basic punches against which this technique might work 100%. Best regards from Romania .
