"MLS defender" is an oxymoron but who can blame them? Regular-season games are meaningless and nobody ever gets relegated or fired. Naturally they play on cruise control. Very exciting, lots of goals ... but it's exhibition soccer, not athletic competition in any real sense.
Same cna be said for tottenham, aston villa, crystal palace and every other staunchly midtable side. Do well enough to avoid relegation without having to give 100%
