Would it be possible with Avid Carbon to send the Main Mix channel it An ADAT channel, say; into a Lynx Hilo or the Apollo to use it for its Great D/A Converters? As you had mentioned the Carbon doesn’t sound as good as the Apollo on D/A side. ???
Yes, and Carbon can now use the optical as S/PDIF as well. Carbon doesn't sound bad, but it's objectively inferior on the DA side to Apollo X 120dB vs 129dB dynamic range. However, you'll lose some of the latency advantage by not using Carbon's DA, since I suspect they chose speed over sound slightly.
Thanks Matt. I think I'm Going to go with the Carbon System and IK iloud Calibrated MTM. For my new Pro set up. Keep the Great Protools lessons comming.
