Lowering the All Original '47 Buick Roadmaster

- Nick's 1947 Buick Roadmaster Convertible is a pristine example of an original car. Factory straight eight engine, 3 speed on the tree, original 6 volt wiring.......... It's time to change that and give the car a more aggressive presence with a suspension drop.
It's got the original Buick straight 8 (called a Fireball straight eight), and it sounds amazing. While not going full restomod, Nick is doing some small tweaks and enhancements to his Buick. Ride height is the first order of business. He's wanting to get the stance perfect, and I don't blame him.
What do you guys think have we Refined or Ruined this awesome Buick?

Millennial here…I hate anything pre muscle car era getting aesthetic changes. All for 12 volt and safety updates but HATE custom cars and horrific rims. I can tolerate the Buick being a little lower. 30s-50s cars are true pieces of art and look better as original as possible
Ruined.....this is a mortal sin...with your ultimate destination within the reign of Lucifer Morningstar. Honestly, a car like this shouldn't be in the hands of someone like you. Find something that needs resurrecting and resto mod the hell out of it to your hearts content. Damn.......
Thanks for your perspective my good man. I’m thankful that auto enthusiasts comprise a wide spectrum of preferences, from purists to wild customizers. There’s room for everyone’s opinion. Thank you for sharing yours. 🙏
@ClassicNation , please take my response mostly with tongue in cheek. No hate here. But I strongly believe that a classic car of any vintage that's completely original(save for normal repair replacements), should remain unaltered. Absolutely, go nuts on anything you can save from the crusher.
I couldn't bear to watch more than a minute. Another old classic destroyed.
Nick . It looked fabulous before , now it looks awesome ! I was very impressed with the condition of the underside and the front suspension is very sophisticated . And Evan was bound to follow ! 😁 Can you still use full lock without the tires fouling the arches ? I know you were thinking LS power when you first bought the car. Keeping the straight 8 and fitting fuel injection is a great idea . And of course the 12 volt conversion is a no brainer . Great stuff . Thanks Guys .
I wish I had my mom's 55 Cadillac. My stepfather talked her into selling it and it was lost in the 1977 Johnstown Flood. If it was in our driveway it would have been dry.
We all want to know where you got the lowering springs. Give your viewers what they want.
Forgot to mount an ipad into the dash and 3000w sound system and paint it hot pink.
Who cares about the purest it looks badass lowered it’s yours not theirs
Do not mees up the suspension. Keep it original. These were beautifully riding cars when new.
I do agree with lowering these nice original cars. Hot rod something else.

Enjoy this classic Buick, body by fisher a timeless beauty. I had a 47 super conv. As my first car in 1955 and parted with in 1960 on a new Buick LeSabre. I bought the 47 for $50.00 and rec. $650.00 towards the new Buick, what a deal, but like a lot of guys and gals there first car and the fun years of spreading your wings are full of memories and that first car. In addition it took me 3months to pay for that car with my earnings carrying newspapers…
What a transformation! Always been curious to see something like this...also would be nice to see you hop-up the good ole' straight 8
Can you share where you got the rear springs?
Menges twins used chevelle rear springs.on their 47.buick coupe that they chopped and did
Springs from what year Chevelle? Thanks.
Of all possible ways to lower a car, cutting 70 year old coil springs is the worst
