Some reviewers are really nit picky and spend most of the time crucifying the machine and pointing out flaws rather than including the benefits as well like you did. Well done! I can't wait to get mine.

Well its been almost 3 years since i first saw this video and i gotta say im glad i watch it, still using my alienware 15 r1 that i decide to buy after i watch this...made some config change 4720hq 1080p and 2 ssd m2, u can fit up to 4 m.2 but u gotta take appart the bottom part of the laptop, great video and thanks Dave!

I have the same laptop but with the 6700hq cpu. Its in new like condition. I use it once and awhile. Its been a great laptop. I now use the Alienware M15 R5 with the RTX 3070 when not on my desktop for portable gaming. I have had zero issues with this laptop. I do run Ryzen Controller to keep the temps down to 85 though.
Hey Dave, I watched all your videos and they're awesome! Except for this one, I noticed that you changed the background music and when the guy singing, it really disturbs the video itself.. All in all, always a nice review to watch! :)
Two problems, the battery sucks... And the weight... Holy mother it's too heavy for a university student to carry around the campus...= =, other than these two reasons, it's a amazing beast

Tom Liu I bought the Blade. It's great so far! Perfect for taking notes and the battery life lasts me through the whole school day. Great for the occasional mobile gaming as well. Highly recommend it!

+Pierre Stromae i got the msi gs60. An absolute monster. This one has a skylake processor and a gtx 970....it literally flies. Awesome piece of hardware. I am not really into alienware's policy, at least here in europe. For one the msi is much lighter and thinner, not so bulky as the alienware, so it has a perfect portability. My model has a 4k screen. Just fantastic

Nice review. 2 days ago I ordered a Alienware 15 with i7, 4k, 980m. Ordered the 8gb ram and 1tb hd, trying to save $$ with intentions of upgrading in the future. Been dieing to get an Alienware laptop for years. Hoping I didn't throw money away buying the 4k screen. I wanted a touch screen and every review I read said 980 is better for the 4k screen. I have a feeling I will be better off downscaling the screen to 2HD for better frame rates at I don't know but I'm super hype to find out.

David, regarding the 4930mx, my laptop is a 15", and it has no issues whatsoever with heat. And my type of work REALLY puts the machine through its paces: all 8 threads working in parallel at 100% usage for hours at a time. It really is a great chip. My energy bills don't suffer... :-) Jim

Every 3-4 year-ish I go through waves of High End Rig (which I keep in another room and run all connections through a wall (Never hear any fans or drives...) or do I get a High End Laptop (because I travel so much) last gaming laptop I bought I was disappointed when all the reviews I read and saw never mentioned the brick of a power pack that you had to carry around with the laptop (it should be included in the weight and dimension of the machine since you must carry that around as well) So I am glad to see you pointed it out. I am on the fence and your (very well done) review helped. Thanks.
I've had an Alienware 17 for two years now and it has been great. My only gripe is the black soft touch finish. It feels and looks great, but it has peeled at the corners. You need to make sure you take your wristwatch off because it will peel the stuff off even more. It also absorbs finger oils like crazy. It looked premium at the beginning, but all the peeling and stains make it look kinda cheap in the long term...

The most stable alienware version of laptop so far.... No thermal issues unlike its succesor, and another technical issues in d market.... I still use it with 6700hq and gtx 980m 8gb vram version... And this beast still kick out most game these day quite easily....

There are alot of gaming laptops on the market that can also be a editing workstation such as razer blade, alienware and asus g series, but i can't find the difference cause most of those reviews dont compare laptops with its photo/video editing ability. If you had to chose the razer blade 14 (2014) at its current price of $1550 US or a newer Alienware 13/15(2015) what would you chose? Would it hurt if i take out a screw from the laptop internals and use it to hold down an M.2 SSD?
Get a proper fitting. screw. A lot of expensive stuff to break if you're using the wrong depth of screw

Still rocking this thing in 2020. Mine has a 1080p display and a 980m and I can still play games releasing without to many problems.

While it's true that you're gonna carry the power brick around, it's not the laptop so idk why they should include those dimensions
