Loved it! Can you do a more competitive Tarkin deck with no budget restrictions?
I can give it a shot. I think this lists upgrades are basically replacing Palpatine and kallus with Vader as our end game unit, but maybe there’s a more midrange Tarkin list that exists in another color.
@@JarlAgonyOfficial I don't think the colors are different, but I rather think the sideboard is the most important. The reason being that he can be pretty aggro-ish vs control decks and could potentially go into midrange vs aggro decks. I don't know what to do about midrange decks, however.
The base is also 50/50 between Tarkintown and basic red base.
I'd think Kallus is slept on, tbh. The card draw in Tarkin is pretty good and the ambush deals with some nasty stuff. I'm not too sure about Benthic and Motti being in there as well.
Motti is nice as a finisher, but requires some setup (like a big enough unit to be the actual finisher) and Benthic has a very low floor but a medium ceiling. You could consider Mercenary Company instead of Benthic, you still miss the Imperial synergies, but maintain the Trooper synergies, while gaining a powerful mid game removal unit that trades well.
And the more I play with Kallus, the more I like him. Being able to ambush Kallus turn 4 and ambush Mercenary Company turn 5 into card draw off Kallus (assuming the board state is appropriate) is very good.
I think Vader is also a great midrange upgrade for this list over Palpatine
@@JarlAgonyOfficial Vader is a must have, absolutely. I haven't considered Merc Company, but I might try it out. I've been running a Seventh Sister and i've found she also works pretty well as they tend to target her and aleviate some pressure off of your other units, or she just clears their ground arena slowly.
Seventh sister is a bomb and great against aggro, but as you mention, gets targeted quickly
Out of curiosity, why no Superlaser Tech to help get the resources for Palpatine?
Because we are an aggro deck, not really hoping to see Palpatine resources. It’s there as kind of a bailout top end.
Any thoughts on doing a Chewie list?
Honestly, it’s not far down my list. I’ve got a spicy list I’ll be recording this weekend, and then was going to do Chewie or Chirrut.
Chewie is tough because his deploy is so late, but I have a few ideas!
@@JarlAgonyOfficial awesome dude! Can't wait. I have a Chewie deck from Hannonz, another deck tech guy, but I'm missing the Luke Skywalker JKs needed so the deck is really casual haha. Chewie upgraded is really fun, I hit with 13 damage yesterday!
I don’t think you can run heroic blue without Luke JK…the card is SO pushed, but that’s why it’s $35
