Definitely.. Whenever I hear a beautiful in game music from a different game, for some reason I always think of Lineage.. And I go down in a spiral of chasing that feeling of nostalgia again Its an endless loop
Yeah I tried to get back to l2 over 15 years away trying to get that nostalgia feeling from 2005-2006. But I realized today I don't enjoy the grind anymore as I did when I was a kid.
Clob, you are absolutely correct regarding to why we go back to this crap! We want to feel like it felt back in 04 - 05, nearly 20 years later i still crave that feeling.
@@Clobberstomped FF has superb raids. But the combat.. oh the combat. It's so static. I finished the first MSQ series and couldn't go on. The global cooldown makes the combat so sloooow. Does it change later? I'm now in L2 Essence (Aden) leveling a Blade Dancer that is lvl 59 still in D grade.. and for 10 Euros I could get B/C gear from the shop. It's such an obvious cash grab.
It does change later. Deeply. Your rotation and opening will change multiple times as you unlock new skills. And I still have yet to master my rotation. It’s challenging.
@@FairPlay012 l2 is really dead for many years already, but essence version of it was the biggest disappointment ever... it's soooo far from everythin l2 was ever about (except cash grabbing, this thing essence does perfectly), ingame money has almost no worth, people basically don't group up ever for anything, except few bosses here and there and some pvp content maybe (exping is just turning autofarm on and go afk, making party for exp is even worse than just afking solo), clan wars are basically just going from spot to spot and killing afk players of enemy clan i was disappointed of anything post-god update, but essence (quite ironically, because the name suggests, that they keep the essence of l2 experience) was much much worse and has nothing to do with what was making this game truly great
Interlude was the begining of the end. The game's prime was C3. People were helping eachother to craft amazing gear and people enchanting beyond +4 were considered crazy, sometimes they showed up with incomplete sets on raids and sieges just because they were too greedy. Clans and wars created real rivalry and everyone had to help everyone. It was the players against the world until they were mature enough to control the castles.
@@stefanbratasanu You based it on your feelings. Interlude was already another engine in its core. The interface had changed already to sum up things that would come (and ruin it).
I loved the C4 content, maybe some of C3 as well. A grade & tomb so much fun. B grade pretty cool too. S grade leather was cool but the rest of the S sets were pretty meh. I hate losing my stuff. I should still have all of my stuff man. I didn't play on live much though unfortunately.
exactly this, I quit at the end of interlude, I miss the c1-c4 days.....tbh its the music now that does me in everytime. Anytime I hear an old school l2 soundtrack, it melts my soul
It is all about the nostalgia. Once every like 2 years I go back to this game just to experience the nostalgia again. I play private H5 servers only, because everything GoD and beyond is crap. It usually takes 2 months for a mid-rate private H5 server to collapse but oh boy I always enjoy the ride.
I'm watching this video almost a year after it came out, but it's still true. I played for nostalgia, and I played like an addict, I spent like 10~20% of my salary, and the items I bought didn't even make much of a difference to my character. It's very sad to play Lineage 2.
I cant tell you how many times I broke something when my enchant failed. Still, the nostalgia is there. Private servers is the way to go, preferrably pvp servers. With the right mindset that nothing will last forever, its actually a nice experience. And yes, its the music and nostalgia.
I know I'm super late to the party, but I'm going to have to agree. Short story: I started in c2. My wife and I did a ton of RP that happened to fit the content. We made our first billion Adena (huge deal at the time)...then got hacked and lost all of our gear (S80, which took forever), and, since we had no way to prove that we got hacked, our compensation was bound S80 gear for each of our characters. We stopped playing the game for some time from the shock of putting in 5+ years to have it all taken away that quickly. A few months later, they added the pin requirement for account. Almost like it was in response to a massive hack. We came back to it on occasion to find out how the game has transformed, and we just kept seeing it go downhill. Then, there was a glimmer of hope: Lineage II Classic. We could play L2, with all of the quests and story just like when we started out. Come to find out, that was a lie too. It should've been called L2 Classic Lite and Gutted...and rushed. Anyway, to the point, now. When you played (pre-whatever-it-has-become-now), did you read the Lore, the quests were written by people that cared and lined up with the rich history of Aden, Elmore (Elmoreden), Gracia, all of the drama with Shunaiman and Shilen (and Eva). There was so much to get lost in and add to with RP. We came back to L2 over the weekend "just to see". What even is this? Can it even be called a game anymore? How does one "play" this? It sounds like the point is to level as quickly as you can, buy gear (for real money) and...yeah... I just wanted one quest line that tied into the story. Is that a thing? Or are they all just...gone gone? Asking for a friend.
The lore is gone. I did some lore videos but after GOD update information on lore is super thin. It’s a shell of its former self. There is really nothing to play for now. An endless grind to nothing honestly. It’s a real bummer. Thanks kindly for your comment.
You started playing after the game was corrupted by greed, before that, it was a wonderful game, filled with wonderful people that used it to have fun, connect, RP, after C3 and C4 greed started to seep in, after Interlude it was already over, admins from private and official servers could only see money in front of them, they stopped improving the game, thinking of ways to make it into an alternate world where you could be a hero or a villain, a king or a pauper, and turned it into this awful thing it is today, a money-grabbing Casino.
Hehehehe. Ooooh don’t worry. I wanted to show those ideas from the Final Fantasy side of things. Not the L2. You are the best @Feeya you wondrous people did help win me over.
I was first introduced to Lineage 2 by my brother some updates before the Kamael update. Back when it was pay to play, I only saw little of the game through private/cracked servers, none of us were really into online payments and all and our parents were rather conservative with anything concerning money online, so I never really got to play the game. We really only spent rather little time in the game back then until it just didn't work for us anymore and we didn't get another chance to play it for free. When Lineage went free to play with Goddess of Destruction, my brother had already left the world of games and moved on but I wanted to try it and play it again, as I always wished to play it again someday. I tried multiple characters, genders, classes, races and builds - nothing that really reached high levels though. I could just never bring myself to grind the game like others did, especially since I was the only one amongst my friends to play it and I never got to find a clan or guild or anything like that. I was a lone wolf in the game for almost all the time I played it. I never actually spent any money on the game, event though I did really enjoy it. And yes, it pretty much was just a grindfest filled with good music, an enjoyable artstyle and a lot of nostalgia. I never got to do any PVP, as I never reached a high level with any of my chars. I just couldn't bring myself to grind that much or spend any money. Highest char I had was a female elven warrior level 82 or something like that. That was before the update, where they made it possible to get to level 85 in an hour though. Before this update, it actually meant something to me to reach those "higher" levels, thinking about the cool gear others with that level had and the monsters they would fight. After that update, I never actively played it again because to me, it just ruined a lot. What I loved and still love is the music of the game as well as the sound design, the artstyle and classes/races and just the general region of Aden and all. I loved the idea of being in a siege or a clan or playing PVP but never got around to doing any of that. I loved casually booting the game up after a regular day of school and just grinding a little and seeing my chars level up and get stronger - seeing progress. What killed the game for me were multiple things: The built in bot that was added some time ago - there were already bot programs before, but I wanna play the game to actually play the game and not let it run in the background. It's a game and not an album I leave running in the background. Secondly, the streamlining of the player's path. It was good to have some sort of guidance, as I personally was lost in the vast world of Aden, with no clear path to follow. But it was just getting too much and honestly, the whole idea of every race beginning their journey in Talking Island Village put me off a lot when I started with Goddess of Destruction. I vividly remembered fighting spiders at the Frozen Waterfalls as an orc, the bright areas surrounding Elven Village and the dark and gloomy surroundings of the Dark Elven Village. Coming back to the game and having the same, streamlined start with every race was very disappointing to me. Of course, if pals wanted to play different races, then it was easier to play together, but I don't think that it would be worth it for that. Thirdly, the game's heavy emphasis on its pay to win system just put me off a lot and I felt like it only got worse as time went by. I never spent a single dime on the game and I am happy I never did. Lastly, it pissed me off incredibly much to see, that a new player could reach level 85 in the blink of an eye, whilst I remember the joys and the time spent grinding to 40, 60 and 70. It felt like all the time I spent grinding, on and off for quite a while, was for nothing. Furtermore, after reaching 85 in that new patch, I just lost the drive to play and see what else the game has in stock for me. I had just seen enough. If I could, I would play the actual pay to play versions before Goddess of Destruction again, especially with some company by my side. But I really would advise anyone against playing the live version of the game, regardless if it's the real live servers or the classic ones. They are just not what people loved and got attached to and I am still sad to acceopt it. And yes, I know, there's always the option of playing on private servers and all but to me, that never felt like I was doing "the real thing" - it just didn't mean anything to me, if that makes sense. And as I had never really come back to the game again, I only ever watched some youtube content to see where the game is at right now and where it it heading and I gotta give some mad props to Clobberstomp, to bringing out that much content for such a niche game - and no, I don't think the game is very small but it is far from being in the size of the likes of other multiplayer games. Back then, it might've been massive or at least felt massive, but I have never personally seen anyone in real life again, who knew or talked about Lineage after the free to play change. Good content man, and I would say keep it up but just keep it up for other games you're passionate about. Lineage 2 is just not what it once was and we should all move on.
You’re welcome for the content over the years. I hope you enjoyed it. Also many thanks for such a well articulated comment. You hit the mail right on the head and I think I many of us had a similar experience over the years. The game gave us some good fun for sure. This chapter is closed but now onto a new one. I hope you’ll follow me as my journey takes me into FF14.
@@Clobberstomped Thank you very much for replying at all and then so quickly as well! The only hope I have for Lineage is a remastered or remade version of it - but then again, they would have to fix so many problems about the game itself, it just won't happen. So yeah, the chapter is closed and it's probably for the best to move on and be happy for the time we had. I will definitely check out some of your FF14 content in the following time, as I am interested to see, if it may be something for me, as other MMOs never really caught my attention. I certainly wish you all the best in your new chapter with FF14.
It’s closely related. It has many of the same elements and game play as L2 does. I think it’s the easier ones to change to now that a majority of my time has been in FF now. You should check out my latest video as reference.
I started playing lineage on C4, and why I love old l2 rather than new is that I could see the endpoint of the grind... NOW I need kvintibiliardtrillion things to drop... it feels like infinite misery. I love this game, but unfortunately there is no trust in this company.
I never really played beyond Interlude. That was peak for me. Thankfully, private servers for old chronicles are always up and new ones launch all the time, so I always have a place to go when I wanna get that nostalgia hit.
We have met with my Wife on an L2 private server back then in the mid 2000s as teenagers and married eversince so L2 will be always a very special game for us. We stopped playing after C6 because we didnt find that fun we had anymore because of the new things that came in. It has been a topic eversince between us " lets play l2 again , would be so much fun again etcetc" but we never manage to play longer than a few weeks... I think that the nostalgia, the times when we were young , no problems, endless freetime, new worlds to explore (mmos were generally relatively new in the era) that lures us back to it.
5:31-6:24 this was one of the big reasons i left was not being able to make money by grinding mobs. coming out of grinding all day to only a couple mil said more than enough. playing bdo for the first time was kind of a shock as to how much easier it was to make money. just 1 hour there even in bad grind zones will get you way more money than can be made all day on l2 if you don't pay. i still occasionally log in to look around though
I had been playing ff for weeks and has like 2m Gil. No need to spend it either. The game gives me everything in some form or another. I didn’t have a sense of having to save for some item that I needed. It’s a big reason for leaving for sure. The reward for doing said task. The sense of satisfaction is no longer there for L2.
I played Prelude (chronicle 0) through Interlude (C6) when it was a monthly subscription. It went pay to win because NCSoft saw how much L2Extreme (private server) was making. Hands down the most fun I ever had playing this game.
Cutting this game off cold turkey is the only way to quit. I was at one point one of the if not the most prolific players of the game (First 99 on North America) and if you want to quit you just have to sell everything, uninstall, and even cut ties with some people because the game is that addictive.
nothing can describe this game better then "endless continuation of insanity" 😂 and the reason why people get captured by the game is because it is actually great game it is just become this kind of drug type. nice animation, nice music, nice characters and spirit they has, interesting scenarios player can expirience. I would say the game so good that it killed itself and pleople playing it are zombies trying to achive that very first feeling of play again and again. pvp win, echanced weapon +n with that satisfying glowing and so on...
The only way i was able to keep up without putting money in, (back in the days) was when I was leading a clan and was able to take over Aden in a castle siege. The money that came in was insane in a server that was populated with active players. I quit ever since 2011 when awaken classes became a thing because it felt like the game became so dumbed down to appeal to the masses that classes weren't unique anymore. I think it was 2011, man it's been so long.
Started on lionna server in 2003 the game was amazing played almost 15 years but when it began to become play to win I was done. It was tough to move on considering all the friends I made playing. We really tried our best moving to the new servers when they opened but it became a never ending cycle if you didn’t invest real money you were never gonna be on top.
I tried the L2 Reborn, it's normal, neither good nor bad, but they mixed all info together in Trade channel like normal buy/sell stuff, looking new recruit in party, Raid boss, looking new academy..... Weird... Other normal chat appear frequent only in huntingzone ? or party maybe
Cool. I’ve taken another path. L2 is done for me for good. I experienced everything I wanted to in the game over the years. Nothing is keeping me wanting to come back. It’s stale and no longer fun for me. Onto bigger and better things like Final Fantasy 14.
@@Clobberstomped Agreed, I try just because it's free download and no p2w, use it will ban immediate and permanent too, fortunely did not experienced everything I wanted to in the game, something can help me to explore, and did the same things as you do, too. Maybe try WoW classic the last phase of burning crusade and future's Wrath of Lich king (Heard it's bit different for classic than pervious in 2008), did not have chance to deeply to try Death knight fully, gotta make no regret this time FF 14 is on the play list too, but have depends on result of big test about dentistry in last July. And another good shooting game is Sniper elite 5, Look forward to it. I follow the simple rule of Games, which is: I play the Game, Not the Game play (controlled) me, prevent addicted
Sounds like a healthy way to continue gaming. Really for enjoyment and chill times for me. Which is why I settled in FF14. I have no pressures to play or keep playing other than enjoyment is all. I play when I want. I don’t feel the pull to have to play which is what I needed. We shall see what I do for content creation or not in the game. I tried posting previously and reading a lot of dialog doesn’t seem to appeal to my fan base so I’m going to change it up some I think.
@@Clobberstomped Lookforward to it, keep health and safe, God bless you Taiwan is bit trouble about COVID recently but still ok, will make it through :)
there a free to play high rate servers that give you the same nostalgic buzz of L2, without the months of grinding. some have a catch, some don't. but the music is the same... 😁
Definitely aggre with you on every Point. That's why I quit l2 officials and played some Private servers, but like u said we don't play it for the fun it's for the nostalgic
I used to love play healer. I started playing L2 from the very beginning of the game and used to be fun… but then I had to choose life over a game. I was so addicted I had to delete it from my computer and had withdrawals for months after 😢
Have you tried BDO? Its far from being as P2W as L2(from what I can gather from your vids and Timmy Johns) and it has the mob grinding you seem to like.
I did. BDO is pretty good. I moved to FFXIV which has an amazing story. 10 years of content to explore. Grindy things that are worth while for grinding. The game is better is every aspect.
@@Clobberstomped “Better” is subjective. I’ve played FF14 since 2010 and played all the expansions except for EW. Once you get to endgame and your goal is to get the best gear, well it only takes a matter of weeks and then that gear becomes irrelevant after a few months. Its a great game, glad you enjoy it, for me it was the type of MMO you play 2-3 months, get the best gear, then get bored after being BiS, take a break of 5-6months and then come back for the new Savage Raid Tier for the new gear.
I didn’t mean better compared to BDO as yes it’s subjective sure. I was comparing to L2. It is better. It’s fact. Hehe. As for BiS gear that’s not an easy task now. Before it may have been easier where 1-2 months was it but joe the raids and savages are insane. Getting that gear takes months and months or continued Grindy effort. Moreover there’s 10 years of content to explore in the game. No way to no life it and still get it done in a month or to. There’s just too much to look at right now. As a new player it’s rather overwhelming even.
@@Clobberstomped Gearing hasnt changed, BiS is not harder than before, they actually had to tone down the difficulty of the Savage Raids because the community complained back in Heavensward. Getting BiS in FF14 is really not hard and it will take you ~8weeks of Savage Raiding and you can only get 1 drop per weekly clear. And that gear becomes irrelevant once the new raid tier is out so theres no point of clearing 10 year old content unless you are a completionist or just want the gear for Glamour reasons
Depends on your perspective. Clearing the old content can still be enjoyable and challenging for those learning the game. Either way I’m sure we can both agree there are better games out there to play than continuing the 24/7 endless grind to nothing in L2.
@@Clobberstomped I do still think that lineage 2 offers something unique. A very interesting world, very cool design, cool lore, and with some innovations it can compete with final fantasy frankly.
Really got me from 3:00 I remember how great the game was back in C4 Until HF. but now it is something else........ Very well described the problem with this game. and the same sh*t goes on private servers. Even GM shop asks me for 50 Million adena for a B grade weapon while mobs barely drop anything on a few private servers. But you can donate LOL
I played this game first on the Korean servers around 1998/1999. When it came to NA West, i joined Teon server on day 1 in 2004. Ive played this game till 2015. In the beginning when it was subscriptions, ive used to box 5 accounts on the same time. 5 times an subscription a month. Then they made it Free2Play with P2W elements. I am not against Free2play, neither i am not against micro-transactions. But if you made a successfull game at that time, and put it into the ground with P2W, then ye, alot ppl quitted. Ive picked up the game this summer 2022. I left around 2015 when i was around 80. Now today i am 106, and spended months ingame. We all know the grind is hard, but the ammount of money you need to spend to LVL somewhat normal, is crazy. I am just gonna lvl my old clan to lvl3, and mess around a bit till Throne And Liberty releases.
I started this game around the end of C3, at that time it was an experience to remember. I played all the way up to Hellbound and then I quit because of the mindless grind and numerous bot trains hogging hunting grounds. The time spent for xp gain was just not worth it, and the crafting/enchanting system was not fun. You were right on the money with the toxicity, clans were way too political, and some of the big clans had a bunch of murder-hobos. Another Toxic waste dump was the L2Blah/L2Guru forums. I admit, my younger self had a lot of laughs reading it from time to time, and then you have the few that just took it too far. I had a lot of fun in the earlier times when I had just reached A-Grade, but since then it just started to taper off into monotony
How many of you played on L2Extreme server, one that got shot down by fbi. I was a clan leader in one of the underdog alliances. We had largest most epic castle sieges on entire server. Gamepley was entirely social. It was Pking , and revenge killings and real in-game beef with others. The game dynamics was so engaging and entertaining that official servers couldn't even come close.
I played Lineage 2 back in the early 2000's using a trial I got. Met a likeminded kid from a neighboring country also playing a trial. We got to talking and upon realizing you had to pay to play, we decided to make our own private server - him setting up the server and me handling the graphics and customer service. I remember we got the server up and running at some american dudes house for like 4 days growing to 300 players before the guy ghosted us. Couple of months later L2Extreme got sued by NCSoft and we realized the whole thing was illegal... To be fair, we were like 12-13 years old. ~20 years went by and last I checked he was working as a game developer and I've spend the last 10 years doing customer service + the occasional freelance graphics design. Life's funny like that, huh?
when i was a kid i couldnt afford to play on official servers so i just stuck around on private servers and i always came back because of nostalgia. so in 2017 or so i got into retail and everything was so different!i leveled and started grinding hoping to hit max level to grind for gear and get into pvp (lets face it L2 revolves around pvp only) but then i realized every race was pretty much the same now, with no uniqueness. like elves used to be faster than all others, DEs had more dmg and humans were more balanced. that was all gone (still is). then i saw some video of a dude and a healer deleting an entire clan from the screen. so im like wtf is that and later found out that the guy was using a stage 3 dragon weapon and it costs like $25k? and the stats are so extremely absurd i instantly deleted the game and never thought about it again
I had that old familiar feeling of nostalgia and searched for this. My buddy and I wanted to buy an mmo just before wow came out, got L2 rolled a orc on devianne, pkers everywere, you were hunted, fast forward in time and I got hero on a nonbot basicly no boss jewelry tank at lvl 77 in majestic armour.. Found this video, snap back to reality I guess!
Lineage 2 lost its meaning many years ago, and died in late 2011 with the release of the GoD version and when became it "F2P" a.k.a P2W fiesta, it explains why the absolute majority of L2 players after that date went to private servers and still are at private servers instead. Any one who would wish to try lineage 2 as a returning player or trying it for the very first time, will have a WAY better time at good private servers instead of the pathetic money grabbing joke the current lineage 2 is in the official servers. Even tho most private servers don't last long, they are still a far closer to what lineage 2 used to be, than what it is nowdays.
Private servers have their own shady dealings. Not all but many. Instead of giving NCSoft your money you’ll be giving it to the private server owners to run their servers. Shut down. And spin it up again under another cool name. Rinse and repeat. It’s how many make money.
sure the game changed with GOD update, alot of players felt betrayed when their time spent grinding levels became fasttracked with the flood of new players. for me it was the repetative daily content.. zero exploration or questing.
Clobb, I'm with you! And I NEVER made it to anything near lvl 100. I have been playing since 2003. Back when Bofa, Dontlookatme, Playa, etc all played. Long live Erica server! LOL anyway, I think its the community that keeps people around. Yes its toxic, but is has its own vibe that no other game has. I have spent prob 5k on the game and countless hours. Hours taken from time with my kids!!!
It had a good vibe back in the day but now it’s a cesspool. Too much money spent for nothing. I’m the same. Happy I’ve left. I have had such a more enjoyable gaming experience in ff14.
@@Clobberstomped i tried ff14 but there's just something missing. Then again, I've tried other games too and I feel the same way. Could be that im a sick individual and it's the drama that i miss, i dunno. There's something about Lineage that draws me to it. Anyway, maybe i'll give ff14 another shot.
You should. Come play on Aether / Siren and you can join me in the FC called Rough Crowd. Solid people. Helpful. Enjoyable game play and shenanigans. Good times had by all.
Do you have any tips on how to get to 85th level faster cause it takes a lot of time to get there and your old tutorials seem real easy and I think a lot of has changed and it's a lot harder to get there.
It was kind of possible to get a lot of adena without paying 4 years or more ago. Farming those raid boss shouldnt be just removed like that and not increasing adena drop on 24/7 grinding
Hi clobber, you don’t need to struggle on these types of servers. L2 Reborn is a great way to get your lineage 2 fix, currently interlude due to be upgraded in November. Join x3 and it’s due to merge with x1 in august, gives you time to catch up. If you decide to move over let me know and I’ll be happy to help. Great video interaction currently also.
i was a player at Some Tyrael Server. Played for 8 Months was Amongst Top100 In the server i think. an update came and some double dagger user that played for 1 month and paid for gear kinda 1shotted me. That made me Quit the Server.
A bit late here but I'm glad that I quit back in 2009 :D. Started playing with C1 and up to Interlude it was ok, Kamael was meh but then I felt kinda of disturbed with Garcias and left. To me C1 to C5 were good, and then it started going downhill after Interlude.
This is exactly why I switched to FFXIV when it first came out. I wanted more than just grind without end. (Ok, and I'm also a huge Final Fantasy fan) L2 was fun when it came out back in the days and it was fun to play on P-servers or to go back to live from time to time but it's not the game I love nor I want to play anymore. Too much grind or too much money out of my wallet to enjoy it to the fullest.
@@Clobberstomped I'm canadian but I play on Chaos Spriggan with european friends I found back during beta. With my disabilities, I prefer to raid during the day, which gives me time to relax in the evening. This game is a blast, for real. I can't even play other mmorpgs since Shadowbringers, this game killed everything else for me. I'm farming P4S at the moment with my roster, planning to start ultimate soon, I'm confident in our capacity to manage this new challenge. Have fun! :D
I played on the north american servers for the last time back in H5. What you have to understand is that, you will never experience Lineage II for the first time again. The good old times are not coming back. Don't hold on to nostalgia and try something new!
you are right about the p2w aspect of the game i dont wanna argue about that but you said you do over and over the same thing on l2 most of the mmorpg i played when you finish the story you do the same thing just coz thats the best thing to do so i dont think you are right on this one
I tried Lineage 2 on the classic server today for the first time since....... 2004? Got bored after 5 minutes and logged back into Old School Runescape. Guess I missed the boat. Should've played Lineage 2 from 2004-2007
i left when they add broosh and stones and i see game is still exactly the same as the day i left. even players with 100bots (rly, we had i clan few people with servers that run 100 bots) had to rmt to be in top 100 on server...
The amount of time i spent in this game tryharding and loosing my mind ...for 12h/day while others were using adrenaline and having fun...it makes me wanna vomit
playing 2 years at chronos without using credit card my gear worths arround 20tril..market is the way to gear your self..u just cant do it and cry gl :P
I loved Lineage 2, played for about 6+ years back in 2004-2011. I was lucky enough to raid all the top raid bosses, Anthy, Baium, QA with RDogs. I had 5 man bot train that I manually boxed to farm all the other raid bosses by myself, ended up level 85 with all 3 subclasses 75, oh and I spent lots of RL monies on it which I totally regret now lol. It was fun though.
Money. Everything revolves around money. The downfall of L2 is the ability to buy Adena with dollars. I've been playing L2 for over 10 years and the best mix hasn't been on the Official but on private servers where the game economy was handled with mob drops. Prices weren't inflated by Adena's fanatical buyers. It's a shame because L2 was still a simple and addicting game. By the way I stopped too.
I enjoyed to play Lineage 2 not official servers. Official server, I joined after H5, when they introduce the 85+ what I believe destroyed the whole game. Freya and H5 are best. Official server is full of bots and people with endless pockets, L2 is the most Pay to win game I have ever seen ( maybe just Archage can beat it) Also official servers deliberately lowering drops for players because of bots And those lags... the game was unplayable on 1 gig connection with the best computers at a time....
If the game is free and the other option is a fee. Play freely without a fee. Play without spending too much money. Free time to play freely is better than a incremental boost but a boost is fine by being permanent and a small fee.
That isn’t the issue. Anyone can play for free. My issue is you can’t roll with end game content playing for free. And on top of that there’s a massive lack of content at all really. Grind grind grind. Raids are one shots. Dragons are one shot. It’s a shell of its former self. The game is dead and the community is the most toxic on the internet. Simple as that.
even if you try to pvp some one if you kill the wrong afk player they will constantly kill you and there are top players that have programs to find you on the map 24/7 if your on. look at divekio with pvping you in the past allthough now he has no gear which is kinda funny i guess.
I was trying to play again L2 this month but feel like here isn't a friendship anymore, just afk farm for nothing or random chance to enchant, 120 boss died with 3 hits, so crazy. take care too.
It all true, for example if you start the game as a new player, you level up to lv105 in two days, then you can start your daily, which require someone level 115+ with thousands of dolars in equipment to beat that lvl 105 daily content... like literally you can't do any lv105 content unless you have someone with dragon weapon carrying it for you. Then if you want to farm lv105+ places you also need someone very equiped to carry you, if not, you simply can't. xdddd
thing that drove me to play this game back in the day ,friends to play with.. the needed of other player to progres n their welcome, feeling needed by other wait for your arrival, unlike today game MMo that even you can solo it whole progress lack of mutual, when thing change, we all busy grown up n server dying / lot of zombie ,, i thing thats the real end game .. im really glad still saved some screenshot gameplay 2006-2014(server end megaxus service) from the past on my old hardisk to look at they serve their purpose ,, a good old memory
Good point! I'm quiting too. (Im near the top with low investment because I'm a support player and those with xxx $ investment need me :D ... but the fun was lost)
I have 5 toons farming 24/7 in silent valley and 1 fishing in Heine, they are in party for almost 1 month there, I have 2 computer on but as you said I have no idea for what Im online farming os killing mobs... Im just coming and checking 1x a day jut to see what is going on, to play this game you must have to be insane or crazy to believe "one day to do a pvp against a full donator" .
Might as well play a private server, pick what chronicle you prefer, join a CP and have real fun playing a class, feel needed. Sure srv will not last forever, but u can then move with that CP make real relations and ofc not open your wallet. Many servers got only consmetics as donation.
Official servers are crap. Should I drop then ? Forget best moment in 2005-11? No! I’m playing at Elmorelab x1 c1. The only one server with C1 and 4K users and no boxes :) That’s the highest lvl of socialisation. I can pick SE and always find a party
The official servers are totally wasted by p2w. From pvp game l2 becomes an endless grinding. It makes no sense to play official servers. There are lots of non-official servers where you can choose your chronicles and have fun without huge donations.
I quited that game 5 years ago and newer look back, it was fun go around with owesome cp we had but its only thing i realy missed. Game become designed how to make you spend more money..
Man the game was at its peak when C4 and C6 Interlude ruled.Lets be generous and say gracia and freya were good as well ok.But thats it.The game has died since 2013.Its the best online game for me and there will never be a more adictive and amazing game.
How did you manage to play L2 after H5? I remember back in 2013 when we had a polish official server, even with translation. Hype was big but there was one problem - it was GoD chronicle... after 3 weeks when people found out it wasnt L2 they know but just stupid P2W with repeating kartia server died, it lived for few players longer but they closed it, there was nothing to do out there. Lineage had it prime in C3-Interlude, but after that it was only getting worse, for me top EQ was S-grade and later Elegia, thats it. No cloaks and other shits including auto-farm, they killed the essence of this game, you can even take a look on private server - its only old chronicles or classic sometimes, nobody wants to play GoD+ chronicles, they are just stupid :/ I miss L2, but there is nothing we can do, ncsoft is greedy corporate, even NA classic was P2W garbage, they are too greedy to restore L2's glory.
Older lineage 2 was not trying to be better than another like Kalonline is for players. Lineage 2 upgrade the appearance and menu's that Kalonline has their 2nd menu appearance since 2010 or something. Kalonline would be nice to have a menu upgrade.
Today i played l2 for the first time, goddes. i played i think 3-4 hours, and i've been playing mmorpg for over 10 years, and in those few hours i saw the signs, rng, p2w, infinite grind, rmt, bots, multi accounts, needless to say, instantly deleted the game, i just want to play and have fun, ff14 is the only mmorpg worth playing imo
Bro you did the Right thing to leave the Game i watched you thru the years i even played on l2 dawn the private Server and it was very good i hope that the video can reach many people and open there eyes;)
quitting L2 is easy, I've done it hundreds of times
Not for everyone but yeah.
😂😂😂 the perfect quote!
its all about that nostalgic feeling we all have for l2 from times to times
If you want nostalgia play a private server
It's all about the bots. That's all people do in this game since it came out and they take pride at how lame they are.
It's not very nostalgic to get 1 hit and press to village :))
Clob, you are absolutely correct regarding to why we go back to this crap! We want to feel like it felt back in 04 - 05, nearly 20 years later i still crave that feeling.
We all do which is why people return however I found this feeling in Final Fantasy. So I have the feeling again.
@@FairPlay012 l2 is really dead for many years already, but essence version of it was the biggest disappointment ever...
it's soooo far from everythin l2 was ever about (except cash grabbing, this thing essence does perfectly), ingame money has almost no worth, people basically don't group up ever for anything, except few bosses here and there and some pvp content maybe (exping is just turning autofarm on and go afk, making party for exp is even worse than just afking solo), clan wars are basically just going from spot to spot and killing afk players of enemy clan
i was disappointed of anything post-god update, but essence (quite ironically, because the name suggests, that they keep the essence of l2 experience) was much much worse and has nothing to do with what was making this game truly great
L2 is the biggest disappointment ever honestly.
It was C4-C5 for me.
C6 was amazing still.
Kamael and Hellbound were the beginning of the end imo
Thank you sir for your good advice 😊
It is all about the nostalgia. Once every like 2 years I go back to this game just to experience the nostalgia again.
I play private H5 servers only, because everything GoD and beyond is crap.
It usually takes 2 months for a mid-rate private H5 server to collapse but oh boy I always enjoy the ride.
Try Warland.
Stays up for years!
Try rpg-club its there for more than 10 years
I'm watching this video almost a year after it came out, but it's still true.
I can understand those things but for me it isn’t enough. It’s the same. Over and over. Nothings changed. I needed something more.
WHEN WAS THAT ROFLMAO?SINCE DAY ITS PAY TO WIN
@@teoteo516 I played earlier chronicles, it was all about the game, lore, possibilities, we were exploring the game, we didn't know what it was about.
For nearly 20 years, every year, I have to go back to L2 at least a couple days. Just feels like home everytime. But only servers up to Hellbound.
Not me sitting here hoping to hear a reason being "I found this amazing group of friendly and fun people in FFXIV that won me over!" Lol.
Hehehehe. Ooooh don’t worry. I wanted to show those ideas from the Final Fantasy side of things. Not the L2. You are the best @Feeya you wondrous people did help win me over.
Wow so needy! :P
@@emptyay You shush 💜
What killed the game for me were multiple things:
The built in bot that was added some time ago - there were already bot programs before, but I wanna play the game to actually play the game and not let it run in the background.
Thankfully, private servers for old chronicles are always up and new ones launch all the time, so I always have a place to go when I wanna get that nostalgia hit.
that feeling when I crafted my first Sword of Miracles....and my Arcana Mace...it used to be the top mage weapon in my server back in the day....
I was at one point one of the if not the most prolific players of the game (First 99 on North America) and if you want to quit you just have to sell everything, uninstall, and even cut ties with some people because the game is that addictive.
and the biggestu cheater/exploited from ncsoft too, we know martel...u get perma banned for that
Since 2003 i left manny time but i back all the time😅
Have to stop doing that hah.
Hey, u thinking about doing guild wars 2 videos again?
Interesting…. Hmmm I had not but it’s not off the table by any means. I think I found my home in Final Fantasy 14 but I would consider some GW2 again.
@@Clobberstomped I purchased End Of Dragons and I am going all in on Guild Wars 2.
Hell yeah. Enjoy that.
This is why there are so many private servers, and you don't need much, with 50$ you get all you need, some servers only give cosmetics for money
nothing can describe this game better then "endless continuation of insanity" 😂 and the reason why people get captured by the game is because it is actually great game it is just become this kind of drug type. nice animation, nice music, nice characters and spirit they has, interesting scenarios player can expirience.
My man .. I stopped playing when they released Awaken classes too ..is it really 13 years already?
@@Clobberstomped

Maybe try WoW classic the last phase of burning crusade and future's Wrath of Lich king
(Heard it's bit different for classic than pervious in 2008),
did not have chance to deeply to try Death knight fully, gotta make no regret this time
FF 14 is on the play list too, but have depends on result of big test about dentistry in last July.
I tried posting previously and reading a lot of dialog doesn’t seem to appeal to my fan base so I’m going to change it up some I think.

there a free to play high rate servers that give you the same nostalgic buzz of L2, without the months of grinding. some have a catch, some don't. but the music is the same... 😁
Definitely aggre with you on every
Point. That's why I quit l2 officials and played some Private servers, but like u said we don't play it for the fun it's for the nostalgic
I used to love play healer. I started playing L2 from the very beginning of the game and used to be fun… but then I had to choose life over a game. I was so addicted I had to delete it from my computer and had withdrawals for months after 😢
I could hold all party 10 ppl + and they really respected me and helped me a lot.
It's a free to play that pays to win game.
As a game developed I'd love to redesign lineage 2 back to a community and gameplay plus pvp based game and make it actually fun
Yeah would be cool but there behind the times. There’s so much more to offer in over games now.
@@Clobberstomped I do still think that lineage 2 offers something unique.
A very interesting world, very cool design, cool lore, and with some innovations it can compete with final fantasy frankly.
@@Clobberstomped I would release a revamped lineage 2 but from the start, with C1
l2 was holding up in it's design up to grade A, was overall well thought out for all classes.
People enjoy the challenge and being better than someone in pvp.
❤
its true is incredibly addictive and without a whale wallet there is no way to compete after a point.
Server?
It’s in the description.
What about playing Lord of the rings online or Star Trek online?
Quit at 104 hero dagger. It never ends and never will. In the end it's a hugely dynamic game, but requires more devotion than a job to compete.
Life's funny like that, huh?
lol sure
Memories bring me back to lineage 2 but i see noone online
You wonder why people love this game? Because it's life. Endless grind with no reward at the end.
when i was a kid i couldnt afford to play on official servers so i just stuck around on private servers and i always came back because of nostalgia. so in 2017 or so i got into retail and everything was so different!i leveled and started grinding hoping to hit max level to grind for gear and get into pvp (lets face it L2 revolves around pvp only) but then i realized every race was pretty much the same now, with no uniqueness. like elves used to be faster than all others, DEs had more dmg and humans were more balanced. that was all gone (still is). then i saw some video of a dude and a healer deleting an entire clan from the screen. so im like wtf is that and later found out that the guy was using a stage 3 dragon weapon and it costs like $25k? and the stats are so extremely absurd i instantly deleted the game and never thought about it again
Yep. Time for a change.
Now those are some names I haven't heard in a long long time..... the greatest L2 days.. Long live Erica!
@@Clobberstomped Aether.....is that a lineage server?
Do you have any tips on how to get to 85th level faster cause it takes a lot of time to get there and your old tutorials seem real easy and I think a lot of has changed and it's a lot harder to get there.
I remember playing dark elf back in 2006 damn
It was kind of possible to get a lot of adena without paying 4 years or more ago. Farming those raid boss shouldnt be just removed like that and not increasing adena drop on 24/7 grinding
A lot has changed in 4 years.
Thanks for the invite but I’m done with L2 for good. Reached its peak for me.
Can you recommend a game in which the community is not so extremely toxic like in Lineage II?@@Clobberstomped
FFXIV was nice. I found some great communities there if you want MMO. Plus it’s endless content.
i was a player at Some Tyrael Server. Played for 8 Months was Amongst Top100 In the server i think. an update came and some double dagger user that played for 1 month and paid for gear kinda 1shotted me. That made me Quit the Server.
So is the grind for this game basically gone? I got to level 20 in like a half hour and was thoroughly disappointed.
Goddess of destruction destroyed it for me
Start of the end for sure.
This game used tondrain my life in 2006 to 2010, worst decision was start playing it
Mr. protagonist has declared this activity as universally unfun
Literal personification of the “stop having fun” meme
i remember when i got the adena bug, got 500b and i cant match vs American Express Platinium
Which server and datacenter are you playing on? I’m on Aether Siren. Loving FF.
Have fun! :D
SHB is so good. EW just continues that awesomeness.
Thanks for watching. I’m glad you agree.
I tried Lineage 2 on the classic server today for the first time since....... 2004? Got bored after 5 minutes and logged back into Old School Runescape. Guess I missed the boat. Should've played Lineage 2 from 2004-2007
respect bro i have been playing 20 years now ;D
Yeah me too. Always loved the game.
i left when they add broosh and stones and i see game is still exactly the same as the day i left. even players with 100bots (rly, we had i clan few people with servers that run 100 bots) had to rmt to be in top 100 on server...
Nothing will change other than more RMT.
When I played this you couldn't even buy items for real money. Maybe eBay if you really tried.
The amount of time i spent in this game tryharding and loosing my mind ...for 12h/day while others were using adrenaline and having fun...it makes me wanna vomit
That's why for my nostalgic times.....i play on my own server ^^
playing 2 years at chronos without using credit card my gear worths arround 20tril..market is the way to gear your self..u just cant do it and cry gl :P
Two years to get 20t in gear. Hahahahahahaha. Enjoy the end game.
Iineage 2 Reborn servers is where its at. Retail is your mistake. they doing seasonal server on high five and it seems pretty cool.
The real truth! I did the same when NCSoft merged the servers and the top gear still was dark/bloody eternals.
theres always a way to solve a problem, with time!
You are right, but still this game is damn nostalgic.
Happy you moved on. Good on you man.
I enjoyed to play Lineage 2 not official servers.
Official server, I joined after H5, when they introduce the 85+ what I believe destroyed the whole game.
Freya and H5 are best.
Official server is full of bots and people with endless pockets, L2 is the most Pay to win game I have ever seen ( maybe just Archage can beat it)
Also official servers deliberately lowering drops for players because of bots
And those lags... the game was unplayable on 1 gig connection with the best computers at a time....
Take care. Thanks for watching.
Then if you want to farm lv105+ places you also need someone very equiped to carry you, if not, you simply can't. xdddd
thing that drove me to play this game back in the day ,friends to play with.. the needed of other player to progres n their welcome, feeling needed by other wait for your arrival, unlike today game MMo that even you can solo it whole progress lack of mutual,
when thing change, we all busy grown up n server dying / lot of zombie ,, i thing thats the real end game .. im really glad still saved some screenshot gameplay 2006-2014(server end megaxus service) from the past on my old hardisk to look at they serve their purpose ,, a good old memory
I agree with you 100% no content for the average players.
Nope. Leave and never go back.
Good point! I'm quiting too. (Im near the top with low investment because I'm a support player and those with xxx $ investment need me :D ... but the fun was lost)
Smart move. I’m so much happier since I left.
im registering plaing 2-4 hrs & delete the game - monye and no more but this was a good game in my youth!!
That sounds horrible. 5 accounts. Sigh. That just is nuts. Any other game this is not needed. Move onto something new.
The only one server with C1 and 4K users and no boxes :)
That’s the highest lvl of socialisation. I can pick SE and always find a party
Yep. Leave the game for good and enjoy your time in other things is my suggestion.
Indeed it has. You are 100% accurate.
No cloaks and other shits including auto-farm, they killed the essence of this game, you can even take a look on private server - its only old chronicles or classic sometimes, nobody wants to play GoD+ chronicles, they are just stupid :/ I miss L2, but there is nothing we can do, ncsoft is greedy corporate, even NA classic was P2W garbage, they are too greedy to restore L2's glory.
top gear everything means you've been botting 6 accounts for 10 years :P
Was about to Download it and play for Fun. But this video made me Play League.
Older lineage 2 was not trying to be better than another like Kalonline is for players. Lineage 2 upgrade the appearance and menu's that Kalonline has their 2nd menu appearance since 2010 or something. Kalonline would be nice to have a menu upgrade.
Is it worth the time ? iam a new player
and game to free?
Nope. Waste of time. Don’t start. Play FF14. You’ll have a better experience.
was a fantastic game years ago when it first started my first mmo !! its way too old now and served its time now just a cash cow til death
I hope so too. Thanks for being such a long time supporter. I hope you’ll follow me to Ffxiv.
I had your epiphany 3 years ago and I just let go and it's great 👍
That’s awesome. What are you playing now? Found a new home?
