    thanks for the video. Came here to replace my headphone jack. It stopped working after I replace my battery and it was that ribbon cable next to the battery had come loose.

    Ok, so I've successfully replaced my headphone jack and the new one works for headphones, although the left ear seems a little bit louder than the right and I haven't noticed that before, is that normal? Thanks

    • @SmartEasyDIYer
      @SmartEasyDIYer  8 років тому +1

      +Jacob Hughes Ok. I haven't experienced that personally so I don't think it's normal. It should be the same out of both sides I'd say.

      +Smart Easy Repair any ideas on possible ways I could fix it or something I did wrong possibly? I am puzzled as of why it would be different in one with the replacement headphone jack

    • @SmartEasyDIYer
      @SmartEasyDIYer  8 років тому +1

      +Jacob Hughes The only thing I can figure is it's a faulty replacement part. I would try to get it exchanged for a different one. I don't think it'll ever be the same otherwise. I don't think it's something you did.

      +Smart Easy Repair ok, well I guess I'll try that, weird how it's doing that but I guess it must be faulty, I'll keep it for a while to see if I can get used to it ok but if not I'll get another, thanks for the response

    Will this cause your phone to restart as a whole new phone bc I don’t want to lose anything of my phone

    • @SmartEasyDIYer
      @SmartEasyDIYer  5 років тому

      No it won’t just for changing out this part. It’s a good idea to keep your phone backed up anyways but yeah you should have no problems. Only if you change motherboard does it change the memory.

    My headphone port didn’t recognize my headphones so I decided to replace the whole flex assembly and it still doesn’t recognize any headphones. Any ideas of what the problem is?

    Thanks for the video! I've bent the Jack socket out of shape on my phone... I dropped it on its corner. It's not in terrible shape and the phone works perfectly still, but I can't put my headphones in any more, because the jack hole is bent. If I can somehow bend it back into shape, do you reckon my jack socket will work again? It's not catastrophic damage, so I'm hoping that if I can carefully manipulate the metal back into shape it might work again. If you think that's possible, is there a strong, safe tool I can use to press the jack socket back out into shape again? I don't want to apply force with a metal screwdriver, 'cos I fear I may damage the inside of the socket. So I'm thinking that maybe a reinforced rubber spudger of some sort. Does that sound like a good idea, or am I going to break it?

    • @SmartEasyDIYer
      @SmartEasyDIYer  7 років тому

      +ummmerrrrummm it's worth a try yes. I'm not sure what's strong enough that won't damage the jack. The reinforced rubber spudger is a good idea if you can find one small enough.

    • @ummmerrrrummm
      @ummmerrrrummm 7 років тому +1

      Thanks so much for this reply!! :) Yes, I think I'm going to give it a try. No-one wants to take it on at repair shops, so I'm going to give it a careful try myself. I like the sound of the reinforced rubber spudger, or something very similar, but I can't seem to find one online. Would you know if such a tool exists? I've searched Amazon, but all I can see are delicate plastic spudgers, which I'm sure won't stand up to the force and standard thin metal spudgers and screwdrivers, which will probably provide the force, but without the cushion. I don't want to press a metal screwdriver in there very hard because it will probably damage the jack... My backup plan if I can't find an appropriate tool online is to perhaps put some electrical tape, or some cushioning on to the end of a screwdriver, to avoid too much pressure. Would you know if there's a specific tool out there that I can find on Amazon. Searching for rubber spudger doesn't do it... :( ...and it doesn't yield nearly as many rude results as you'd have thought either!

      @SmartEasyDIYer  7 років тому

      +ummmerrrrummm Hahahaha no ride results huh? 😂 good times. Ok so no I haven’t found a tool like that either. As I was reading down through I was actually going to suggest electrical tape to question but your on to the same exact thing. So yeah I would get a screwdriver or nail or something that is smaller diameter so you can build it up with tape to get the cushion you need.

      Hi there!! Finally raised the courage to give it a crack a few days ago, after the tool kit arrived. Want to say thank you so much for your video and responses here! So helpful! After a bit of careful pressing and prodding, I managed to bend my phone back into shape! ...well sort of! The Jack socket isn't quite as round as it once was, but after a little bit of effort, it's so much better than before. The glass is lowered again and looking better, the frame is less buckled and best of all I managed to squeeze a jack back in there and hey ho it works again!!! Really pleased!! I can listen to music again. Thank you so much for your video and help here!

  • @jacobhughes1287

    The main thing I'm worried about is that I'll brake the antenna while replacing this piece for my headphone jack, it looks so fragile, if I were to accidentally brake it is there a cheap replacement piece I can buy somewhere? Do you have a link? Thanks

    • @ummmerrrrummm
      @ummmerrrrummm 7 років тому

      Yeah... I have a broken jack socket and I really don't want to fix it myself for similar reasons to you. I don't want to break my phone! But Apple want so much money for a repair. I've slightly bent the jack socket, so I can't get a lead in there anymore and you'd think that Apple could offer a cheap budget repair option, or you'd hope. I'd be quite happy if they get out a screwdriver, try to bend it back into shape and charge me a few pounds for the effort. If it doesn't work or it's not quite perfect, then no biggie, but they want £300.

      +Smart Easy Repair I've gotten my headphone jack piece stuck in there and i tried getting it out this super glue on a stick and i think i might of gotten it stuck in there forever. Will doing this solve the problem like will it take out the headphone piece with it?
