    when practicing mindfulness/meditating I like to think of my thoughts as waves coming in from the ocean. I acknowledge them as they splash up on shore. Then I peacefully and effortless watch them withdraw back to the sea. There's no time to analyze the waves or think about them in detail. One can simply just observe them for a brief moment and then watch them go on.

      Ironically, I lived a life that centered on the feelings of others. Instead of expressing my feelings frankly, I thought I had to live a happy life that would require suppressing my feelings to avoid making problems.
      At the same time, I firmly believed that my inner anxiety or nervousness should not be revealed. I tried to think positively or forced a smile on my face, hiding my unease and pretending not to know.
      There were feelings that discomforted me, that I knew I should not be feeling, yet whenever those feelings arose, I would deny myself and suffer....
      I thought this was the right way, but reality told me the contrary. I became more vulnerable. I started to use the "Intended mindfulness playlist' and got much better. It really works 😌-)

    Mindfulness simply means being present ! It is something i struggled with for so long … it doesn’t matter if what you’re ruminating on is positive or negative in the long run it causes you a lot of unhappiness and stress regardless 😊 Being mindful and focused should be taught to every child because even the ones that struggle (like me with OCD/adhd) it can still always improve with practice !

    Anxiety is from living in the thoughts too much, by relaxing and moving into your body and feeling it instead thinking only does help. However chronic anxiety is a coping mechanism learned that if your in your head you can’t actually feel the emotions that we like to run away from, as we become adults it becomes learned helplessness. By being mindful we can feel and we can act accordingly to what is needed. Eg in an uncomfortable situation if you feel anxiety, you can breathe into the uncomfortable situation before the anxiety takes over and respond with saying this makes me feel uncomfortable please stop or I am leaving now. You have the power to leave most situations and not have to live with anxiety.

      How does mindfulness tackle having PTSD and severe financial difficulties, while your phone constantly rings off the hook and the only contact you get is in the form of mail, from debt collectors? Just asking because as someone who is currently not in a great position financially, and struggling severely with PTSD, I keep getting told to be “mindful” and practice “mindfulness.” How does this help my current state? To me it doesn’t, it’s just a way to think about something else instead of my problems. But it doesn’t make the problems go away. Thinking about how awesome the beach looks today doesn’t pay the bills or fox anything. So could you enlighten me on what I’m missing here?

    • @kevinsanders3630
      @kevinsanders3630 3 роки тому

      It seems to me mindfulness works when you’re perfectly healthy, have a set career path that you are currently trajecting on, and no financial problems. If that was your situation and your day was going to be upset by your boss’ shitty attitude, then yeah, mindfulness works great. Ignore your boss until work ends with your mindfulness and then do as you please after work, problem solved. But what about serious, ongoing, neverending problems? You can quit your job, or block out mundane tasks it requires. You can’t just quit paying bills, rent, trying to find healthy food to sustain yourself properly. Mindfulness seems like something some women from Orange County, CA who grew up privileged came up with. People that had problems or currently have problems that are to me, not even a register on the stress or anger level. Your car broke down? At least you have one (mindfulness). If my biggest worry for the day was my car breaking down, therapy wouldn’t be necessary.

      @@kevinsanders3630 what's the difference between one who has a lot of challenges and always thinks about them and feels rotten, and another person that has a lot of challenges but also practices mildfulfulness, slow breathing, works on having a loving/forgiving/thankful/fun attitude, exercises, eats healthy food, trusts in God, and finds positive people to spend time with? The difference is that you give your mind a break from life's challenges. Your body becomes relaxed. You're able to breathe. You develop a sense of peace. Your mind is clearer. You feel more confident about overcoming life's challenges. You know that today is a blessed day. You take away the power from your challenges as you become more powerful.
      Smile and have faith! You will overcome these challenges!
      I also recommend watching Joel Osteen on youtube, talking to a counselor about you ptsd, also look into videos about how to release trauma from your body.
      Challenge your challenges by being filled with love and peace! Take care, my friend, I hope the very best for you.

      @@kevinsanders3630 Why do important tasks need to be stressful?

    • @kevinsanders3630
      @kevinsanders3630 3 роки тому +7

      @Personal Excellence Foundation Your comment proves my personal belief that mindfulness only works for the privileged. Have you ever had to pay rent and not had the money? Have you ever lost a job due to outsourcing and came home to a pay or face eviction notice? Paying rent is a monthly important task that causes massive stress in millions across the world. Some people are one missed paycheck from homelessness. How could not stress about such and be mindful? When you’re living in poverty for 2+ years, you face a daily struggle of being able to feed and house yourself, which causes your mind to race at night when you want to sleep, along with whatever othe problems you have in life, making tomorrow even worse as your problems carry over and now you’ve lost out on important sleep. But I guess if you’re being mindful through all of this everything is AMAZING according to you and those preaching “mindfulness” to solve your problems. Some people have to stress about how they will eat or pay their bills everyday, and it’s a survival instinct. You know if you can’t succeed in the task, you may face harsh results (not eating, losing housing, etc...). And those are just two basic important tasks that you can’t negate and need to face head on every day and month. It’s not escapable and never will be. People will always stress of these things as a means to survive poverty, and no form of “mindfulness” will help with that. Once again, it’s great for those who are about to throw a hissy fit because their $70,000 BMW blew a tire and now they have to wait 30 mins for road side assistance so they can get it repaired and go to their party full of drugs and alcohol. Then you can focus on birds and trees for 30 minutes and mindfulness seems amazing. But for people with complex PTSD that live in poverty, mindfulness is just a burden.

Mindfulness is the commitment to not fighting but surrendering you mind and body to the suffering. When we suffer we feel inner resistance, tension and fear, our usual response is to fight this with our mind, cringe and resist but when we relax into the discomfort and let the pain wash over us, it soon subsides and you have cleansed a part of your inner being. Our brain has thousands of negative impressions from our childhood and life...each time we surrender to an impression, it is wiped away....practice this and you will see a massive reduction to your inner suffering...regardless of your life situation

    Blessings to you all. The practice of mindfulness is the holistic process of becoming self aware in the current state of your physical, mental and spiritual existence. Our self mastery stems from the knowledge that our minds are very powerful and that it is constantly shaping our realities and the manner in which we engage in the world as we perceive it. Like the masterful captain of a ship at sea, we must navigate our way through the never-ending waves of our own thoughts and feelings, being able to discern those that have been artificially produced and unconsciously suppressed while accessing the inner compass of our greater selves as a guiding North Star. To be mindful is to also engage with intent in order to deliver meaning to our actions, to become one with our true nature to access the divine force so that we may manifest from true inspiration. Being mindful is to be in the here and now, where no past exists and no future need be concerned, the actively conscious form of surrendering. Carry no judgements, ill-will nor machinations of ever-morphing thoughts, as the practice of mindfulness is to reconnect us with those greater aspects of ourselves where kindness and compassion thrives. Wishing everyone a transformative journey . . . ua-cam.com/video/SJYaCuFVVJ0/v-deo.html

    Sit in the position that is most comfortable for you. Do not sit in a semi-asleep position. Sit in a quiet place. Not hot, not cold, not hungry, not sleepy. Then close your eyes. Breathe in and out slowly, naturally, without straining. Put your hands on your lower abdomen. and try to feel your stomach stretch out. (This process may take several days.) Next, put your feelings on your breath. Take a deep breath and feel it. Breathe out and feel it. Just do this. Peace of mind, stress, pressure, ADHD. will alleviate in not using..

    In the latest video on the Practical Health channel, it says that there are only 2 types of meditation practices - concentration meditation and mindfulness meditation. Basically, every time I focus on something, only on that object, I meditate. Is it really the case?

    Is it normal when I meditate having a constant dialogue with my self? Like having a voice that describe everything I do while I’m meditating like “ok focus on the breath” or “ok I’m having a thought, return to the breath”. Is it correct or should I stop to talk to my in this way during my practice?

    This has never worked for me unless I was in a relatively easy time in my life. I don't even logically understand how it would work. If I'm in a lot of physical and mental pain, distracting myself from the pain works better and logically makes sense. Literally laying there focusing on the pain just makes me feel like I'm drowning. I've had panic attacks and anger attacks trying this. I get filled with cortisol and snap. My heart rate rises, it gets harder to breath. It's a powerful biological instinct to fight or flight when you're under a lot of stress. Laying still gives you a sense of overwhelming vulnerability unless you're under very mild stress. And I think most of the studies on this have likely been done on people with mild stress or depression but they think it's severe because of the soft world we live in. Most people never experience severe stress and I doubt very seriously this would work unless you're some type of monk who trained for 15 years to do it. But monks have no stress anyway because they live simple lives that purposely cut out stress.

      The purpose of meditation is not to calm you. At least not at first. Meditation for you right now is about feeling the anxiety and panic and allowing it to be there with zero resistance. If you’re in a state of anxiety don’t focus on yourself focus on your surroundings. Every time your mind wanders you gently bring it back. In order to heal from anxiety you have to allow yourself to feel it and refocus your thoughts on the present moment. Not with the intention to calm down but to stop the resistance that is fueling the anxiety. Later is when you start to feel peace and calm but not at first. First you need to teach your body you are safe so it can stop panicking. It’s a very counterintuitive process but it works. And it’s also not an over night thing.
