this video is very educative may you continue the good work , in zimbabwe GIS is a new area and if it could be used in education at secondary and at college .this has helped me much for my diploma in applied GIS and remote sensing
Very informative. Thank you.. also my love for the Bonobo has increased ten fold
This is the most comprehensive and the best VDO about GIS. Thank you very much. Anyone new (or even experienced) to GIS should watch this - several times. By the way, if you allow, I would like to make a narration of this VDO in Thai and publish it for free on UA-cam. All original VDO will be kept, and the content will be translated precisely according to the original English narration.
This video made me choose GIS as my major Sophomore year of HS. I appreciate it.

God among men. You literally covered what took my prof an entire semester. She's an extremely nice lady….but she overcomplicated EVERYTHING. I wish I wouldn't found this video earlier….her class was the first geog class I did not enjoy and I believe this may have altered it…but at least it'll save my ass on the final. Thanks!
Very useful to trainingmy students. Thank you
Found it very helpful and comprehensive!
I like the mention of John Snow's map. It is one of the greatest use of spatial analysis in the early days of modern science.
thank you! thank you! thank you! You just made my subject more interesting. I have a prof who really makes his class of thins interesting subject very boring and hard for all of us students to understand. But listening to this and following his presentation things become a lot easier for me and more clear. Thank you one more time :)
Great video.
Thanks Jere Folgert, very clear!. If you don't mind this video it will be shown as a part of explanation of mine, about Coding on GIS. It will be edited but I will give the source video on UA-cam.
Thanks for making this topic understandable and not scary :)

Very helpful and easy to understand, THANK YOU!
Thank you for this video
Thank you so much for this video, Jere. I can tell you put a lot of work into it. Wanted to learn a bit about basic GIS while reading a book on PostGIS (a database called PostGres that has an extension that supports GIS data). Learned quite a bit! Still having trouble with understanding what datums are other than the concept of horizontal/vertical datums, and that vertical ones seem to be about elevations.
Thank you for this great video. It is very useful.
This is a great video. Thank you,
Thanks for the presentation
At 35 minutes and 55 seconds into the video, you state that: "Longitude angular measurements stored in the GIS often have a negative value if the angle is west of the Prime Meridian." However, the angle is ALWAYS (not just OFTEN) negative if it is west of the Prime Meridian.
This video is full of dad jokes. Besides that, very useful!
Thank you. Visit KnowGIS.com I'm here to help. Let me know what project(s) you are working on. Our KnowGIS 10.x training series has been sold to folks around our globe (30+ countries) and we've had wonderful feedback. I have many people to thank.
Thank you Srinivasa Rao Dasari. Thank you for your kind words. Let me know if I can help you in any way. Sincerely JF !

Nice introduction to GIS.
Thanks ! Helped me a lot !
very informative
"In a nutshell" is a saying that you relate to something you say. Implying that it is a nutshell version of the actual amount you could have said about a subject.

Thank you sir
Perfect Work and Videos, I hope you all progress.. If you like to translate them to Arabic, our company will be ready for that in future,MAKAN GIS Ltd.
Enjoyed video and think the jokes are great!
Oh Gosh! Who did plant a brazilian monket puzzle tree in northern India, (see 20:20)?
Thanks. It was a good learning experience.
Good explanation indeed
Remember, the map is distinct from the territory. (58:28)

19:49 Spatial reference. Required for geoprocessing. (43:53)
1:23:15 Analysis.
thanks, it was awesome!!!
Very useful one..
Ohh I was watching the video with my earphones and when the lion roar at min 1:08:15 I got scared! xD Thanks for the video.
I'd like to learn this as a second career post retirement in about 10 years or so maybe, I can do some work while traveling. I see lots of potential and many fields I could specialized in. What you think?
At 39 minutes and 40 seconds into the video, you state (and show in a graphic) that the International Date Line is the Prime Meridian. However, the International Date Line is at 180 degrees longitude (and varies) and Prime Meridian is at 0 (zero) degrees longitude.
Whoops
What resources would you recommend to teach middle school students about GIS?
i'm geographer too.
trying to specialized in gis soft .
and scientific gis.

How do i get the program, and what is the cost. Thank you. The presentation of the tutorials are quite interesting.
Real helpful, thanks.

You Need GIS mapping qualification for registratering for this class.. to use it you haft to be sponsored/ registered thru a government entity. This is useful to locate water tables for water levels on building sites...
Great video! Terrible jokes!
