US native here working in cloud tech. Absolutely agree on titles and hierarchy … not as important in the US. Also, we don’t put such a huge emphasis on collecting certifications. We also put less emphasis on tasks and more on other skills like critical thinking and innovation.
Outside India. The most important things i have learned in my life is “Be Kind” whatever the situation is personal or professional.
Very true. I am based in US and work with remote teams from India. There's definitely a HUGE 'work culture' difference for sure.
Hello GK - Your videos are really inspiring - I keep watching your bits whenever I get time. Kudos for your work to improve the Cloud/DevOps community. Good Luck :)
Thank you sir!
Hello GK! I have gone through many of your videos & I have found all of them to be very concise & informative. Here you have described the culture difference with all your simplicity hence we could easily connect. Thanks for making these videos & helping people like us to get the clarity towards achieving our career goals. :-)
My career path begins just like you sir, oracle DBA,then AWS, slowly moving to Devops role, you are an inspiration
It's a good insight. Thank you for sharing your personal experience.
You are bang on right on the 'status' point. I have worked in Hyderabad for sometime and was surprised to see this culture in IT industry there. Though this is same across India, in Hyderabad it's quite on your face, like calling sir to manager and all. Currently I am in Pune and that culture is not that much on ur face but I agree this mind-set very indian.
I like your honesty.
I hardly find UA-camrs who are honest like you.
🙏🏽
Yes very useful information, we to noticed this when working with our teams in Australia aswell. Very professional and no gosips.
I am a kind of shy person and I hesitate to convey something to my senior colleagues and manager. Thank you for this video which I really in need . Hoping to see you soon with more topics like this GK
I'm from the US, but my first enterprise level tech job was with a company based in India. This video made my experiences with that company make much more sense, as I didn't have any real grasp on the workplace cultural norms of Indian businesses at the time. I'd worked in other places in the US previously, so I took most of the points brought up in this video as being the norm; it was jarring to be thrust into an entirely different set of standards that I didn't intuitively understand.
What were those standards?
Hi GK, I m planning to travel USA by end of this month. And this video very much useful for me. Thank you for sharing
Good luck!!
Congratulations
Thanks for sharing the knowledge. Will try follow these going forward.
Art of saying NO is very important..very true..don't say yes when u want to say NO
Hi GK
Thank you for your videos. It is really getting me through the day. Your calm voice is so smooth and the information is alway spot on.
Things I have mentioned above are completely my own interpretation and what I have learned during my stay. I might have generalized certain things. Be sure to apply things that you are comfortable with :)
Whatever you said was very generalized ... at the end of the day its the culture where you work in makes a difference but cannot be generalized to IT culture .
Indian managers from the 70's kids they are from industry revolution era .they want to command , be respected like Sir amd Madam ...In USA its not much like them a bit different
The art of saying "NO" is a huge mistake here in India .... in short you may loose job eventually and gradually
I dont say every company or every manager is this way but most of managers about 90% are this way so does that 10% help ??????
You must be damn lucky to get such a kind of workplace ......or the practises that you say are good and beetter way to enhance career
All the Best
@eluru vibes...I agree with your statement in regards indian IT culture.
Sir Cloud Developer Engineer vs Cloud DevOps Engineer which one to go for??
@Cloud Advocate Sir Cloud Developer Engineer vs Cloud DevOps Engineer which one to go for as a Fresher? I possess a bit of Development skills in my clg days
@@South-Ecstasy it is the way you react to the situation around ... if you want to complain you will keep complaining your whole life ... if you see positive in every situation all is good at the end...

So true. Thank you for sharing !
Well framed and precise content, luv ur videos

@@CloudAdvocate Hi, I have a stammering problem, is there any difficulty to get job??
Good info.. Keep it up. Indian IT should follow but it will take time. Hopefully the current generation and future generation should follow the principles..
Hey GK, thank you so much for making this video! I wish I have watched this before I join my last company. I was an engineering manager (US based) and my whole team was based in India. My team members were the smartest I ever worked with but they never say "no" to me. At the same time, all leaders above my level won't take "no" for an answer. Another thing I thought it was "funny"... a direct report asked me if he/she can call me by my first name. I was confused and asked why not. I bet you know the answer. Please, don't "sir" me, I'm a servant manager.
Yes most of the Indian managers get offended when not called “sir” :)
Always love from my side ♥️💯💯.
Thank you broo 💖
Agree with small gatherings-they are a good mini break .
Great Summary Krishna!
Hello Sir your videos are so informative and inspiring.
Thank you GK for helping us a lot..
Bro I always inspire with your content bro. ❤️❤️
Thanks bro.
Hi GK, Thanks for uploading this video.
Hi GK, great content!
I think this gives a broader view of work culture.
Hello GK, First of all Thanks a lot for being "my knight in shining armour" and I seriously meant it. As I was thinking and searching a lot in terms of "what should I take next step in regards of my carrier " and than I saw "How I switched to DevOps and Cloud" and it just felt so good and boost my confidence that I have decided now to move to devops . Right now I am working as a part of build team like can say - mini devops .
Could you please let me know best way to start carrier in devops - first making theory strong or should start getting basic knowledge and than getting experience through attending interviews?
Very informative 🙌
Thanks for sharing... 👍
Great video !!!!
This also happen in india sir, people do there work first and help others.i also do the same.
I worked in US for 4yrs in most notable software provider in Redmond.. All sorts of people we come across as its a International market... When you go near - all exists - a racist, a bully, a idiot in high positions.. and also wonderful guys who make your day!
So just follow normal decency instead of being american or asian.. as a person, At work, we are GLOBAL VILLAGE(INDIAN), even if we work from India!
Sir your videos are very much motivational for our present generation, please give me some of your valuble advice on how to switch career from a mechanical domain to an IT sector?
Very informative 😊
Labour laws also do matter
In in India if you overwork and if don't get paid nothing happens, but in the US they'll definitely drag you to the court of justice
Because of the huge unemployment and enough human resources Indian employers (not all) really don't care about your work life balance
Beautiful Background. Looks like you got a new house.

There is no freedom of speech in corporate in India. If you say No to your boss, you may face retaliation. One dialogue is famous in corporate in India "Boss is always right".

Yes!! Please.
Then we will be having some basic knowledge on Linux and coding watever needed for devops like we will not have an idea how to implement or how it works because if I gve an interview i will have basic knowledge on this
I am scared that if they reject me because I m from testing background and also a manual tester

Hii I am 2011 B.Tech. Passed out, I wanna start my career now!. Shall I know cloud is the right platform for me for getting job please advice me
Sir in the USA can we call our Boss/Manager/ Any higher Officials by their first name? I remember you said this in your previous videos. will it be Embarrassing for them. please reply to this GK sir
Typically in most corporate cultures in the U.S. you call your manager by their first name and that's even the case with our directors and Vice Presidents. One of my Indian friends called our manager "sir." Our manager was not comfortable with this and asked him to call him by his first name.
It’s only in India that we still have this backward attitude, which the British left us for.
If you call someone “Sir”, they get really uncomfortable. Even your professors in college ask you to call them by their first name.
Watch a couple of lectures of SOC 119 on UA-cam, that professor literally calls his students “Dude” or “Dawg”, and wouldn’t care if someone called him the same.
@@wlouisharris Thank You very much vista
@@rohitsai4995 no problem. You can start calling your manager "Mr. manager" and ask if it is ok if you call him by his first name, but I am in a Fortune 10 company and we call all our leaders by first name.

You can use @technical guftgu channel
There are mainly few channels that have quality content.
Hi Sathish, I might have missed your message earlier. If you wanna go with a structured learning ..start with certification and you can find videos on UA-cam or if you can afford I would also recommend Udemy.
For the whole He/She thing. The answer to this is simple. Call them by their name. That's all you have to do.
