- With correct working methods and proper tools, a mousse tire change can be an easy 4-minute job. This video represents the everything I’ve learned from an array of UA-cam videos into a process largely following the @Rabaconda 3-Minute Tire Changer method but super easy for anyone. You don’t need to be a pro to do a tyre in sub 5 minutes! And that’s axle to axle!
If tyre changing is your hate, then this is the video to watch. Here’s a full how to tutorial video with all the top tips to get your tyre changing time down to as near to the 3 minute pro time as possible. Using this process I’ve got my time down to 4 minute 22 seconds!!

Rabaconda and levers from www.endurotyres.com and tyre by @michelinmotorsport. www.endurotyres.com/product/r...
What’s your best time?

Video process:
• Set up Rabaconda - estimate 2.5 minutes
• Set up according to your wheel size, I'm using an 18-inch tire for the demo and I already have it here set up at the 18-inch marker
• Recommended to have sprocket down and the disc side facing up to give you more room to operate the tire irons
• Loosen rim lock - do not removed, instead lossen to the last couple of threads. Keeps it in place but easy to work around
• Position the rim lock opposite the bead breaker system
• Grab a tire iron and use the straight end for dismounting. The straight end is easier to insert. It is stronger. And later, it is easier to get them out between the tire and the rim.
• Using a double motion action - grab the Rabaconda handle and position the bead breaker as close to the rim as possible. Sometimes the mousse can be really hard and it’s so difficult to get the tire irons between there. The key here us to put your body weight as close to the end of the green lever as you can for full leverage, simultaneously pushing the tire iron. It's best done with one quick and strong double movement.
• Using four levers place them in using the same method roughly a 4-inch or 10-cm distance between the tire irons.
• Now, quickly check if they’re nicely engaged. If you pull and they don't slide out, then it's all good.
• With really hard mousse, there's also one trick to get the tire irons flipped easier. You need to brake the bead from the opposite side. This will allow the tire to come over the rim more easily.
• Now leverage the tyre off. Grab one in the middle first If and the other one in the middle. If you grab the ones in the middle first, then those two here won’t slide out. If you start with the one on the side, the other ones might slide out easily. Now you can see the straight ends come out easily between the tire.
• Now that you have about a quarter of the tire dismounted, it's time to flip around the tire. Flip around the wheel
• Position the section which is just dismounted tyre under the bead breaker. Grab the handle again and start pushing the tire off.
• With force but being careful not to rip the tyre you can dismount both sides of the tyre using the Rabaconda
• Once you’re at the rim lock, change the Rabaconda setting and push behind the rim lock, it should slide off effortlessly
• It’s actually possible to mount a new tire without taking the old one off. But I'm mounting the same tire here for the demo purpose.
• Prepare your mousse as normal - do your homework here
• Ensure your tyre is the right way if directional
• With rim lock opposite Rabaconda arm, engage the rim lock and then using one lever to get the bottom of the tyre on. Once on you should see no mousse on the top,
• Position rim lock directly under Rabaconda arm and use first lever using curved end. Hook this under the Rabaconda lever holder
• Now using two levers work around the tyre pulling it on. Big chunks at first getting smaller
• At the 2 and 10 o’clock position place a lever in the removal position. This will hold the tyre low in the rim to allow easier rim lock installation in a moment
• Continue around the tyre
• Once at the rim lock using a level leveraged on the brake disc push the rim lock in - and in the same moment push the Rabaconda down onto the tyre edge. Engaging the tyre in full
• Tighten rim lock and refit to bike.

Love your garage. Really nice set up.
My rabaconda arrived today, looking forward to giving it a go and getting my new wheels on the bike. Will be using this video as a step by step 👍
Nice review and demonstration of the tire changing tool. Thank you! Really enjoy your videos. Ride safe Vanessa!
Thank you too dude. Thank you, it's mad how easy the Rabaconda makes it
Damn! Great tutorial! Made it easy! Thanks
Great demonstration one of the best I’ve seen with some everyday useful tips thanks for sharing
Oh wow, thank you Peter, that's so lovely to hear. I really appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment. Thank you
very effective demo!
Vanessa Excellent video. You did a great job explaining how the Rabaconda works.
Yey. Thank you for watching ❤️🥰
Thanks a lot for these lessons. PS. nice boots!
This is the best demonstration video i've seen using the Rabaconda
aw amazing, that's lovely to hear, thanks Stephen ❤️
I remember seeing this two years ago on your channel. I literally just bought mine for the 17 motorcycles I purchased because I was sad and needed something to do. 😅❤😂
Good choice!
Nice work
Thanks dude
Great video. You make it look to easy.
Hehe thanks Rafael
This system is much more sophisticated. I cut of mine in June and put some new Dunlap on with three spoons.
Wow I bet cutting through the tyre wall took some work? Yeah its amazing how much Easter any job can be with the tools that help and the technique. Good effort
If my wife know making this )))) respect for you
Enjoy your channel im thinking of getting me one
You won't regret it. Amazing kit
I have watched many Rabaconda videos and have yet to see anyone fitting a NEW Bib mousse into a NEW Desert Race tyre. The sheer ease with which Girl on a Bike gets the bottom lip of the old tyre/mousse onto the wheel (at 5:45) bears ZERO resemblance to the reality of doing this with new mousse/tyre combination.
that's a fair comment, I've changed many new ones too and I'd recommend using some water on the bead but the same technique 100% works
Well Vanessa, following your method was the quickest I've changed a mousse tyre but I can only draw 2 conclusions. I am a heavy handed oaf or you have magical powers. I could not do it half as effectively as you on a fairly stiff Mitas C17. My second mousse change with a Rabaconda. First one on a rear took me a miserable couple of hours. Now the front, following your video, about half an hour. And I used mounting lube, whilst you didn't. I am going back to you have magical powers.
haha I wish I could say I have magical powers! haha Although, let's go with that just because it makes me feel magical haha. To be honest.. I spent hours in lock-down just practicing so it's probably just down to sheer resilience trying over and over until I got faster hehe
@The Girl On A Bike I practice my innertube changes and can do one in about 10 minutes with a Baja No Pinch, Motion Pro levers and hand sanitiser gel as lube on a Motoz Rallz. But yours was damned impressive. I'm a big lump and what your demo showed me was brute force really doesn't help. Shall we just say you have magical powers and I'm not a clumsy oaf?
@@TheIdlesurfer haha deal
Another great video. Looks a little more complicated than fitting a 700C tyre on my road bike 😀
Having said that there is probably not a lot in it if you go tubeless! Not having done any off stuff before, do you have to balance the wheel/tyre after fitting a new tyre?
Hehe thanks Graham
Just found your channel! As a fellow woman rider I love seeing the representation and can’t wait to see more of your videos. ✌🏼
aw yey. Welcome and thank you ❤️💪
Many thx for sharing - great video...I will be looking into getting one...it is your fault!!
Haha sorry... Not sorry! 🤪 You'll wonder how you ever changes tyres before once you have it 🤣
Just did my first mousse on front tyre. There was much wailing and gnashing of teeth. Seemed like it took me hours.
Have to do the rear now having seen your vid. OMG.....picked up a few pointers but bemoaning the lack of proper tools.
Hehe fingers crossed my video helps. The technique is so key hehe
Hello Vanessa...I just got a Rabacondra and was using it to take a tubed TKC 80s off an 18 inch rear rim....broke the bead with hardly any effort, got the first tyre edge off the Rim using the tire irons, flipped the wheel, but when I went to use the Rabaconda bead breaker/arm to push the tyre and tube down over and off the 2nd edge of the Rim I found the sharp teeth/edge of the bead breaker was digging into and cutting/gouging the top face of the tyre...had to give up using the Rabaconda and get the tire fully off the old fashioned way ....vertically on the ground using two tyre irons and my knee. Any thoughts on what I was doing wrong ?? Carl.
Hello Vanessa....any chance of an answer of this ....would be much appreciated... I'm a big fan of yours. Carl
soapy water makes it much easier
also pushing the bead into the center of rim give you more slack too
Thanks for the tips. I avoid water with mousses as you won't want water in the tyre, window cleaner is pretty good as it evaporates but thankfully with this machine you barely need any effort anyway
😍
Yey thank you
Please make a video fitting the tube.
It’s coming super soon on the Michelin channel. We filmed it recently
@@TheGirlOnABike you are the
Will this work only for tubeless?
The method will work for tubes or mousses with small variations for sure. Tubeless I'm not personally familiar with though
Should I wear wellie boots when I try it? 😉
totally, they add 10% skill
I've been doing enduro for thirty years and I never thought I'd see a woman (a beautiful woman ...) change a tire better than a man ... you also drive very well! This is true passion! Greetings from Italy
aw thanks you Luca, that's very kind of you!! Yey
Takes me three hours 😂🤦🏻♂️
I was hoping it was a tire with a tube, it must be a whole different process with a tube.
No it's not too differed. Put in the tube and fill with enough air for it to hold its space. Then you can do the same process. Just be careful not to punch the tube
I only came here for the Mousse. I feel cheated! 🧐😎😜
Oh no haha that’s the bit I didn’t explain. I’m sorry! 😝
The Girl On A Bike It’s cool. I got my mousse action elsewhere, so I’m all moussed out now. 🧐😎😜
Ride safe
